Mr egg is a scouser, they dont like people of African descent over there, ask John Barnes.

tell the right wingers that ;)

who cares what race he is! he a f__king fantastic man utd player. id still love him if he was from abu dabi! just how many caps would the boy have if he was english?

its not true how the hell is ryan giggs dad black although i have never seen him i dont think he is black because he does not look black. its pure science, if a parent is black his children is black or dark. and giggs does not look black.

but his father is englishand he did change his name. but we all know that.

If you've never seen him, how can you say he doesn't look black

i've seen a picture of his dad and he doesn't look dark black, but he is kinda dark...either it doesn't matter much...

Ryan Giggs' Dad is mixed race. So Giggs is quarter as it were. His Grandma lived in Cardiff which was visited by many sailors from all over the world, so Giggs grandad was of a black persuasion.

To all those people jumping on the 'Does it matter' bandwagon. Who said it did? It's a simple question of someones background. Nobody said it mattered, they were just showing interest. :p

Thank you for that well reasoned response. I find it amusing that some posters immediately assume some darker (excuse the pun) reason for me asking the question.

It seems that some (I'm not mentioning any names Murt), perhaps tongue in cheek, assume that it's a typical intolerant scouser who's posted this - and had to get the John Barnes reference in.

I asked the question because a Utd fan was trying to justify black people (Giggs was mentioned as mixed race) being physically better at football - hence the supposed "reason" Arsenal are doing so well.

Do you actually follow the message thread before posting?

No need for people to get up in arms about a simple question. Giggsy has interesting looks and when I first laid eyes on him (unfortunately via the television!) I thought he was unusual looking (in a fantastic way!9.

As for all the talk about mixed race backgrounds -all European descent people are of mixed background anyway. Believe it or not some of the Irish, Welsh and Scots have more in common with the Turkish who are not of Arabic descent. Galatia in Biblical times was the home to Celtic peoples, some of whom later went to the British Isles and Ireland.

The English are a mixture of German, French, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Icelandic, etc. And believe it or not, Mongolian. The Mongols travelled far and not a few European descent people have some Mongolian blood whether they know that or not.

If we all had DNA tests done, we would be very surprised to find that we are products of a lot of racial mixing. And of course human life probably originated in Africa.

Obviously failed genetics 101

Maybe telepathy 101 wasn't so succesful either

I heard a rumor that Gigg's dad is a bloke? Is this true?

Sorry for being so sexist

Basically we all originally come from 4 races distinguished by certain features :

We are either Caucasoids, Negroids, Mongoloids & the Australids ( or the Malay/Aborigine race. )

Thus the white Europeans, Americans, Arabs & Asian Indians are Caucasoids, the Africans are Negroids, the Chinese, Japanese & native Americans ( American Indians & Eskimos ) are Mongoloids & the Aborigines & malays of South-East Asia are Australids.

Just thought you'd like to know! ;)

actually..the aborgines fall into the negroid bracket.. as do some indonesians and southern indians..(basically the dravidians..who were in India before central asians(aryans) conquered the place.)

The Turks originate from Mongolia...but they settled in the place now know as 'turkmenstan' these were the seljut turks.. who then went west and conquered and assimilated, the eastern roman empire (byzantine) so really, i doubt how much real Turk blood is in Turkey.. actually the Turkish striker Manziz looks an original turk.

To the original topic, he must be mixed race because I heard he could play for Wales, England and Sierra Leone, thus going back to the point that he has some African background.

He did play for England... schoolboys.

No, his father and mother are both Welsh. He only played for England School Boys because he went to school in England. He never did and never will qualify to play for England even if he wanted to.

Ok! ;)

Are the Welsh a race? Or in Davo's case, homo sapiens?

I heard he picked Wales because Sharpey was ahead of him to play for England.

i thought it was to do with his "auld dad" something personal.

Isn't/wasn't his dad in jail or something? And he chose to play for Wales because his Mum's Welsh, and he doesn't speak to his father anymore?

Correct me
if I am wrong, but I think Giggsy COULD play for England if he had an English grandparent or great grandparent? I am not sure of the rules. Does it have to be a grandparent enabling a player to play for their country or can it be a great grandparent.

As for Giggsy`s mum, I heard she was not born in Wales but in England so Giggs could have played for England.

Can someone clear up those points for me? Thanks.
