Even if it were really good it would more or less be reinvented over 3 summers. That's an absolute age in football terms, let alone for a team that wants to progress and build on that progress, if it attains said progress.
We'll need to make much quicker changes than that. And I think we will. The new hierarchy briefed two or three times last season that everyone had a price, or everyone was for sale bar 3-4 players or some such. We're hearing the same again now. Only difference being plenty are out of contract and the hierarchy has actually assembled a structure of operators capable of making footballing decisions which is a novelty for United in the last 11 years.
I expect plenty of players to be let go for free, sold at a loss, pushed out, and sold at decent value. Can't imagine we go into the new season with Rashford, Lindelof, Eriksen, Shaw. There might be a stay of execution for Maguire. If serious offers come in for Garnacho and he's yet to adapt to Amorim's system and principles then I could see him sold at a favourable price. Can't imagine we won't try every creative solution possible to get Casemiro and his 300K weekly wage off the books.
Evans and Heaton won't be renewed.
It should take at most two summer windows to get a very good squad, but I am expecting the squad to be cleared of any unwanted players before the start of next season, even through unfavourable deals, just to clear the decks.
