Is it fair of Ralf Rangnick to give Erik ten Hag a dossier of the players, or should he say nothing and let the players have a clean slate?

When ETH comes, ralf hould give him a clean slate, then let him smash each one of the squad around the head with it.

Given a clean slate? No
Given a smack in the face? Yes
With chair? More yes
The chair is on fire? Oh hell yes

These lot don’t deserve a clean slate. Even the local lads (looking at you Rashford) have been a complete disgrace, I’ll never forget this season and the way they all sulked and put in 20% effort. I’ve never felt so disconnected to a United side in 30 odd years of support.

Feck the lot of them

Ralf should tell it how it is.

Bollocks to the players, they deserve nothing.

He is staying on as a consultant, pretty much the job he was hired for anyway. Surely the very first thing he should be consulting a new manager on is the current players at the squad, is that even a question?

But regarding a clean slate, there are only 12 players signed for us who havent already played under three managers. One has already left, one is leaving in the summer, one has already played for the incoming manager. That only leaves nine and I woul dthink the incoming manager knows all he needs to about Ronaldo, Sancho, Fernandes and Varane. Two of the remaining five are youngsters that have been out on loan who will be getting a fresh start anyway.

So that literally only leaves Maguire, Bissaka and Telles, who havent played here under three managers having two fresh starts minimum already. NOne of them have really excelled and even the biggest optimist couldnt give all three reasons for fresh starts....if any in all honesty.

So no, none of the squad deserve fresh starts and the incomign manager should be given as much information as possible about all of the players, and then make his own mind up as we need to act fast this summer

Yes it's perfectly fair. There will be a dossier for Ten Haag and let's face it, these players have had many chances for a fresh start.

The same thing Chelsea fans said after sacking Mourinho, holding out banners calling Hazard/Cesc/Costa snakes. They won the league the following year, with those players playing a big role. Real Madrid fans go through the “sell all the players because they’re useless” phase every few years, they don’t, and end up winning things. I guarantee you next season some of these players look like much better footballers because they’re no longer playing for the worst manager in Premier League history.

I'm sorry, but when was the last time those clowns won anything at United?

These losers have been given multiple clean slates and it all ended in disappointments. It’s finally time to start afresh.

Honestly, enough is enough. I fear for some of the players safety. Give em a picture of a successful footballer and let em go..

Who actually rates our players? at least 80% of them a bang average to absolute garbage.

Hope it's the most detailed dossier going, with every single instance of each player failing to follow an instruction, not challenging for a 50-50, not tracking back (as our wingers seem unwilling to do) and being outrun by their direct opponent.

With recent reports suggesting that Ralf will provide the new manager with a full report of our current squad, is it the right way to go, or should the players be allowed a fresh start when the new manager takes over?
Third time lucky eh????:annoyed:

Feck the dossier, we need minimum 10 new players if not more next season to challenge.

We are a fecking joke now in world football for the last decade. Spent the most in the world with one of the highest salary but got humiliated again by fecking Brighton.

I would be very surprised if Arnold had not instructed Rangnick to produce a full, no holds barred report on players by the end of the season

I would expect such a report, based on Rangnick's persona, to be detailed, honest with a recommendation to keep or move on

And I would expect such a report to be given to ten Hag who will take note

I'm sure we won't get the report published and I'm equally sure that we won't get a straight talking Murtough but that is what will start to drive the direction of the playing staff

I think the transfer window opens on 10th June. I hope ten Hag can be at his desk by the 1st. His first priority must be to work out who has what it takes

A bit of both. I think ETH is intelligent enough to know which players are good and which ones are bad. He can judge them based on the numbers, their individual abilities, or within the first week of training.

A majority of the squad is leaving as it is... so that makes things easier. What he needs to know from Rangnick is the overall influence these players have on the rest of the squad as well as their mentality and temperament.

Either from Rangnick, or his own team of assistants - ETH will definitely have a clear idea about the remaining players before first day of training.

A fresh start is right.... At other clubs or retirement homes!

You've watched this group struggle and practice themselves when fighting for top four, losing out to the likes of West Ham, Arsenal and permanently bottlers Spurs for pretty much the past decade.

Why should any of them be given a clean slate when they have no backbone and couldn't their way out of a wet paper bag?

Standards are through the floor, and most of this fan base cheering on the mediocrity of these players really don't help - these are millionaires paid to do a job, they don't give a feck about you, that's been clearly demonstrated, this season especially, so again I ask, why would you give these mercenaries (wrong word actually as mercenaries tend to get the job done) thr benefit of the doubt and let them have another chance of wasting another year of this clubs history, and another year of your life.

If it were up to me I'd be more than happy to finish 15th in the table if it meant most of these guys didn't put a United shirt on again, I just want to see some effort, show that they care, I don't even mind if they're faking it, just run a little for your millions.

On point.

What clean slate? Bar Cristiano and Varane, these players have won nothing worthy so far and they always crumbled under intense pressure, the many semifinal loses and EL final's choke up are the testimony of their fragile state. The only one who deserves "clean slate" is our club, and HOW? by kicking half of these overpaid tossers out ASAP, so that we are sending signal to other players that no mediocrity is allowed at this club ever again.

How is it unfair? We hired him as a consultant basically?

All ten haag has to do is watch the games and judge himself.

Maguire no pace.
Rashford runs onto players and sulks
Mctominay just isn't a premier league player
Our full backs are dodgy as he'll

Like it's clear as day for all of us and I'm sure a top manager can see it as well. The board will be the problem, because they won't let most of these players go.

does he need a dossier if he has a TV? Just watching that game last night shows how pathetic the team is, no need for words to describe it.

Absolutely. He should be full, frank, and forthright in his assessment and say what he thinks.

He was paid to consult, not half-arse manage the club. He should do the job he was paid for and consult ten Hag and the club over what he sees as the issues they need to address and then ten Hag needs to look at them himself and decide if Rangnick is right, because he's the manager.

Not sure why people are saying a dossier is not needed. ETG wont know who the toxic players are simply by watching our games on telly.

Heck even I dont know who the toxic players are. Can someone list them for me?

It’s entirely fair given that some of them have been persistently underperforming and getting away with doing as they please for too long.

I'm hoping Erik ten Hag knows enough about his system, the type of players required to play said system and our squad full of well known players that he'll be able to pick and choose who can contribute and who's expendable asap.
I agree. I think Ralf should absolutely give him a detailed rundown on his opinion of the players and the club. And Ten Hag should consider that information and then make an objective judgement based on his needs and vision. This is the most balanced approach.

I think Ranick should, ten Hag doesn't have to take it as gospel, but it will be a good reference and they have to work as a team for this to be successful.

Let's save everyone time and effort.

THEY are all *** useless
Two categories for every player:

1) Good enough but lack effort
2) Not good enough but put the effort in

If that was the case I doubt he would have took the job.

I'll bet now he is pouring over hos contract to see if there is any way of legally escaping this *** show

First three months sorting through the dross. Get a core group of players he wants to keep. Bring a few Ajax players in, in the meantime. Look to the market for right players.

Yes, of course it's fair.

There was a story I remember hearing once about Sir Alex Ferguson dropping in on a youth team training session during an afternoon off. The kids were all racing against each other in sprints. At the end of the session, he called on a handful to be promoted to first team training. But it wasn't the ones who were fastest that he picked. Instead, SAF picked out the ones who ran as hard as they could all the way to the finish line and didn't let up until after they'd crossed it. The players who let their heads drop because they were losing or who eased up before the line didn't make it through.

What matters at the top level is how hard you're willing work in adversity. If a player is capable of downing tools now, he's liable to do it again at some point in the future. EtH needs to know which of his squad are weak willed at heart and which will run through a brick wall for him when it really matters. It's really easy to look good when you've got something to play for (eg.the last couple of seasons). It's a lot harder to do it out of sheer competitive spirit (eg. this season). United need to build around people who fit into the latter group.

So giving everyone a clean slate is a nice idea in principle. But you're just giving the troublemakers a chance to hide before the next opportunity they get to make trouble again. The manager should know who they are before he takes over. The ones with the character to be die-hard winners are the ones he'll want to make his key players.

This post should be thrown into the abyss.

The feck is this thread? These players have had countless chances and have failed to produce time after time. Get them the feck out the club and start a fresh. Let’s give ETH the best possible chance of succeeding.
