Film Is Die Hard really a Christmas film...

a) my life isn't that interesting, and
b) its isn't Christmas for nearly 2 weeks yet
 
Saw this in the Christmas section of the store earlier. Considering reporting those cnuts for false advertising.

1. Die Hard is set on Christmas eve.
2. Nakatomi Plaza is having a Christmas party when the terrorists infiltrate the building.
3. There are numerous references to Christmas.
4. There is a Christmas tree on screen in the Nakatomi Plaza.

How is this movie any different to Home Alone in the sense of both being set around the Christmas period, yet not even the Karen's debate that Home Alone is not a Christmas movie.

Case closed./

He's also wearing the same expression I do about an hour after Christmas dinner when the in-laws have progressed to their fourth anecdote.

5. Pretty much all the music in the film, except for the original score, is Christmas music (and the original score even includes an instrumental of Let It Snow)

If the soundtrack is a Christmas album, the film is a Christmas film.
 
This is really a binary decision. You either think that Die Hard is a christmas movie, or you're wrong.
 
I remember being at a Christmas party a couple of years ago where the subject of conversation was everyone's favourite Christmas film. Someone said Die Hard and there was (rightfully) no pushback. I said In Bruges and I was told that wasn't allowed. In Bruges is set at Christmas time and there is snow in the movie. What more do people want?!

These are some of the quotes off the top of my head, I’m sure there’s more, Christmas songs aplenty aswell.

If the movie was set in a different season it would lose alot of the charm and feels. I think that’s the silver bullet. Christmas is central to so many things that make the movie great.

I goto this in cinema every Christmas and it never gets old. Bringing my children as they grow up is so satisfying…. I light candles for children whose parents neglect this right of passage… Thoughts and prayers

Not even that one. The biblical Jesus was probably born in spring or maybe early summer. Like so many Christian holidays they usurped "heathen" holidays, in this case the Saturnalia and winter solstice, with their own.

I really liked it, too. But that one is definitely not a christmas movie.

Yeah I know, but if Raging Bull isn't a movie about boxing without boxing what would make a Christmas movie about Christmas?

Someone doing anything to spend Christmas with his family maybe?
