Is all well that ends well?

Everythings shite. Doooooooooooom!

That seems to be the burning question. Why we have to take unnecessary risks?

We might get by in the league but it'll be the reason we get knocked out of europe. We wont wake up till we're a goal or two behind a top team and come up short

Nope. If we get the right personnel on the pitch then we end up being the superior side in nearly every match this season. Trouble is that the right personnel have been on the pitch for 90 minutes only against Newcastle or Chelsea. I love Ferguson but what the feck is he doing?

I think that is a clocking bomb, it will backfire.

Saying that, I still hope that SAF will make this midfield changes.

Not by any stretch.A lot more worrying stuff on display matches after matches

Yet we still largely keep winning.

Great response to going down, again. Great impact from the subs. Evans slipping back into the form he showed before his injury. Fletcher coming back in contention. Top of the league.

But feck it, lets focus on the negative.

If we learn from it. If we start playing Cleverley and Ando in centre mid with Chicha up front flanked by Van Persie and Wayne in 4-3-3 until/unless the wingers return to form. If not...

Basically this.

Rotation isnt as excuse simply because no other team does it as much as us. Playing unnecessarily weak teams doesnt do us any good.

Mindboggling team selections.

It's my opinion Pops, I kinda expected a little better against QPR.The result and the reaction is great but it's not everything
This bad habit of conceding goals in order to wake up later is something the team should really get rid of

Is true too.

The thing is, we rotate far too much, leads to there being no continuity. Even if we play our best 11 in a big game in Europe, it wouldnt have played together often enough which will harm us.

I would say it's not the best mindset to slip into. However you gotta give credit to Fergie for making the right changes and to the players for producing when it mattered.

Yep as well as being questioned why he persisted with Scholes once again....but no it's a necessary risk to make because we can take for granted our subs will always make the difference :wenger:

Yeah, pretty much sums it up for me too.

The team selections are quite baffling, and winning the games eventually because he eventually puts the right players on the pitch is not going to fix our problems.

sometimes it's better to be lucky than good..

but I'd rather focus on improving where we're going wrong than blindly saying it's fine because we won in the end.

really enjoyed watching us this season. its great fun so far.

The most depressing part of this season is reading redCafe reactions!

Fantastic sub selection. These last two games were always going to be hard regardless of league placements. They prove to be year in year out. Strong finish and 3points~Top of the league having come nowhere near our best. Lets be thankful and not spoiled eh.

Lets put things into perspectives. Starting from this game. They are one of the weakest teams at the moment. So there shouldn't be a problem with not fielding our best XI. Fergie has done it countless times before. Sometimes it backfired but generally it's a good time to test formations and combination of players for example.

Really enjoyable season. Its good that everything isnt rosey, makes for interesting discussions, and as long as we get comebacks and exciting games every other week everything is good :D Football is supposed to be entertainment after all.

If we go behind because of poor midfield selection yet claw our way back in and win like we have so far for the rest of the season this will go down as one of the better seasons in my book entertainment-wise.

I honestly do believe that Fergie knows what he's doing. When it comes to the City game, I seriously doubt he'll start with the vets. Up until that game, I don't really care if we start with Carrick-Scholes-Fletcher in midfield, we have the team capable of beating the teams up until that crucial game. I believe we have West Ham and Reading as our next league games before City - so even though I expect moaning about the line ups, we should beat those two comfortably even with vets in the midfield.

I'll only begin to agree with the team-sheet moaners if Fergie plays a horrible combination when the big game(s) comes along.

You always want the win above all else. Guess what? We got the win, so let's not be too hard on Fergie and the boys.

On the other hand, you do have to wonder whether it's possible we can improve our play so that we don't have to scramble to overcome a one or two goal deficit.

For me, I'm not worried at all. It's still only November and we're momentarily at the top of the table and we've won our group in the CL. That's a pretty good place to be in, which is much better place to be in that City (effectively out of the CL and apparent intramural turmoil) or Chelsea (no explanation needed) or Arsenal (pretty much out of the running for the prem trophy) or Liverpool (a complete clusterfeck of a once-proud club). So I caution red mancs against jumping on Fergie because of whatever upsets you. We're piling up the wins while growing some fantastic young players who will be called upon as we march into March, when the likes of Giggs and Scholes will be worn down and pretty much relegated to the bench. Fergie knows what he's doing and we might as well stand shoulder to shoulder with him. This is no time for reaching for panic buttons.

I wonder if some fans understand football. Just because the subs came on and changed the game doesn't mean they would have the same impact from the start.

In case anyone wants to flog Fergie, take a look at the final score at Villa Park today. Villa 0, Arsenal 0.

No.

I came back very disappointed despite the win. You pay good money to be entertained.

No you don't. You pay to go and support your club. I find this a problem with modern day football, and in particular modern day fans. Too happy to sit and wait to be entertained. Too caught up in the glitzy Sky Sports era of entertainment and soap opera style football. You're there to support your team in the hope that they score more than the other team and win. That's what is important.

So, to the OP, is all well that ends well? Yes, if we win then that's the job we set out to do on a Saturday done, whether people were entertained by it or otherwise.

Football is about a lot more than results. If it wasn't we'd just watch the results coming through on the vidiprinter. Football is all about entertainment but different people obviously derive their pleasure in different ways.
