Out very soon, do you think it will be as good as the first?

I doubt it.

Probably not but I am still looking forward to it

The first one was unexpectedly good!

I can only hope so Hectic. It looks like it has loads of characters in it, it could either end up being brilliant or a convoluted mess.

Yeah, the first one was a nice surprise, but I've got a feeling the sequel won't be anywhere near as good.

But it was War Machine and Black Widow in it!

Yeah and Justin Hammer. And Nick Fury. And Whiplash. Look at how other comic book movies have suffered from trying to cram in too many characters, like Spider-Man 3 ?(obviously that was just one of many problems with that movie...)

It could go either way for me, I'm either going to come out shaking from multiple nerdgasms, or in an angry nerd rage. Seeing the suitcase armour has been worth one nerdgasm already.

And yes Spammy its the same director.

I thought the first one was decent, but wasn't as impressed as some people. A few people I know were stating that it was a better movie than 'The Dark Knight.'

Which I think is bullshit, personally. This one gives off a 'Spiderman 3' vibe to me. Which is not a good thing.

Well the Dark Knight suffered from it a little bit, what with them trying to cram Two Face into the movie at the end. That was utterly fecked up - I really thought they'd try and save him for another film, which would have made more sense.

Its hard to tell what kind of involvement Sam Rockwell is going to have as Justin Hammer. If that role is fairly low key and just meant to lead in to another movie, the same with Jackson, then it probably won't be too stuffed.

Im looking forward to it.

Having no ACDC albums is not something you need to rectify.

I mostly agree which is why I don't have one, I like a few of their songs but whenever I've heard an album of theirs I haven't been too impressed with the overall product. The songs I like happen to be on the Iron Man 2 soundtrack which is essentially the best of AC/DC. As you can't legally download any of their songs, this album might be worth 9 quid.

On topic I will probably check the film out as the original was far better than I thought it would be.

Have you tried 'Back in Black?'

Excellent album.

Have you tried 'Back in Black?'

Excellent album.

I listened to it on an entertainment channel on a plane a couple of years back. Probably not the best listening environment!
Considering it gets so much praise, I wasn't overly impressed. The title track is very good though!

I know it could end up being a big let down, but dare I say it seems as though it has the potential to be better than the first which would be very impressive.

I didn't watch the first one until monday night! mainly because it looked like the kind of movie I just don't enjoy but Iron Man completely took me by surprise and I can't wait now to see the next one. Downey Junior is quality!

First one I thought was surprisingly good. Hope this is too.

:nono: Jay I can't believe you deprived yourself for so long.

Hollywood Reporter
“Everything fun and terrific about Iron Man, a mere two years ago, has vanished with its sequel. In its place, Iron Man 2 has substituted noise, confusion, multiple villains, irrelevant stunts and misguided story lines

Visual and CGI effects are the best and worst thing about Iron Man 2. The film relies far too much on them. They catch you up in the action but, unfortunately, nothing else does.”

Variety
Iron Man 2 isn't as much fun as its predecessor, but by the time the smoke clears, it'll do.

High expectations from the first movie may leave some wanting, but there's enough brilliance on display to leave you wanting more as well.

Sam Bathe (just some guy of the street)
Iron Man 2 might not have the power or tone of the recent Batman film, but that's not what the filmmakers are after, and crafting thrill ride that's so easy and accessible to take in, it'll be tough to find a more fun way to spend a couple of hours.

Hmm, went to Rotten Tomatoes and read two review-one from IGN and one from The Mirror. The IGN was balanced, it did say that the movie is a bit too bloated, but overall was positive. The Mirror one was very negative, but terribly written (its The Mirror) and some of the points were actually contradicted by the IGN review. So I'm inclined to believe The Mirror's review is a crock of shit, and the movie is at least decent.

Looking forward to this, the first one was good (I don't think quite as good as has been made out though) but this looks like it may have a few too many things going on at once.

Superhero films tend in recent years to produce sequels that are superior to the first one - Spider-Man 2, X-2, Dark Knight (although usually followed up by shite third installments). Will this one buck the trend?

Copy and pasted from the movie review thread, because my views are worth reading twice.

Iron Man 2 No, it isn't as good as Iron Man, but I was going in with lowered expectations and came out pretty happy. The action is good, Robert Downey Junior is good, Scarlett Johansson is a total fox, not bad at all. The Whiplash character was kind of weak, Rourke wasn't bad but the character's motivations were kind of flimsy and the last fight with him wasn't too impressive.

Overall I'm thinking 7.5/10

That was the only thing I didn't like about the movie, I enjoyed it a lot.
