Ireland under Stephen Kenny

No crowd, no pre season, I'm sure it's not just us finding it tough to get going. Certainly not much in the way of attacking pattern from us so far.

Any chance of a win - my bet needs the cnuts

Thought he could have brought on Coleman for O’ Dowda and push Doherty up.

It's refreshing watching us be a completely different type of shit.

On a positive note - we looked far better when Callum Robinson and David McGoldrick entered.

I think none of Molumby, Idah, O'Dowda, James McCarthy, really took their chance but should see better days.

I reckon the front 6 against Slovakia will be something like this with Arter maybe offering slightly more than Brady, Molumby and McCarthy currently.

Connolly Didzy Robinson
Arter Hourihane
Hendrick

Yeah it was but we did create some chances and we really should have scored.

Hopefully it's a different situation come October when they've had a few games with their clubs and they're all a bit sharper.

Yeah, this is basically pre-season for a lot of those players. After the longest off-season ever. And I like the way we kept trying to play proper football. Still, though, bit of a downer.

Were not beating Slovakia man.

I wouldn't overreact. First 2 games, during strange times, when Kenny is trying to do something new. I'd be more focused on 2022 than the euros if serious about rebuilding team and philosophy

I really cant understand why people go on with this kind of mindset. They are not Irish so it just needs to be dropped.
I accept the decisions both made, but after watching that dross play, you can but fantasise about the difference a couple of English fringe players, who legitimately qualified to play for us, would make to our team.

Can't complain too much. We're already getting McGoldrick, Robinson, O'Dowda, Arter, McCarthy etc. There was no way Molumby and Idah were gonna set the world ablaze in their first games. It will take time but hopefully Molumby will be a first XI player within a year. Idah, O'Dowda and Parrott maybe in 2 years.

I agree with that. We are very poor on players and there is not really any talent on the way through.
Kind of stacks up with the mess that the FAI is.

You can see Kenny wants us to play decent football but it is going to take time and better quality to see results .

Shane Duffy might score the odd time but as a defender he is useless and that showed these two games .

O’Dowda in 2 years?! The lad is bloody 25 already.

One of the most pointless players I’ve ever seen. Controls a ball nicely and proceeds to never do anything with it. He’s an AM/winger who got 1 goal and 1 assist last season. He legit doesn’t actually provide anything out there.

Parrott, Idah and Connolly could all end up Premier League quality strikers. Molumby and Knight look promising. There's also Joe Hodge (17) who looks a big talent but pretty sure he's a Manc (Irish Grandma) so could end up being another Grealish/Rice situation. Not to be cynical or a dig at Ireland but they will always be able to fill the squad with lower PL English-born players which should keep them reasonably competitive as a team.

It looks like Arter needs to be the first name on the sheet in midfield, not that he's particularly good, but because he at least shows a bit of urgency to do things quicker.
