Iran v US confrontation

There are posts on Twitter urging Trump to turn Iran into one giant parking lot or their desert sand into glass.

Who are these people and why is this mentality allowed?

apparently Trump is going to give a prime time speech to the US, from the Oval Office, only the second time it has ever happened, if he does it.
Television baby! He's going to go for war. Its election year. 4 more years of this.

Mostly obese armchair military armchair experts who've been lucky enough to never experience the horrors of war. Its just one big dick-swinging game to them.

So I thought Congress has to approve any drastic actions? How is Trump seemingly in full control here?

Congress can’t do shit unless they pass laws removing powers they previously handed to the presidency.

Technically, he does, but Congress ceded tons of power to the President over decades of refusing to declare war. He can order military action for up to 60 days (plus 30 day withdrawal period) without formal authorization. The problem is: what are the consequences? Of course, Trump will use some ridiculous justification for his actions to say it falls under the 2001 or 2002 Authorization of Use of Military Force (Al Qaeda/terrorism and Iraq respectively). As long as the GOP covers for him, there's no real Congressional recourse or response.

I do not believe they are the majority. Hopefully if this is how they feel, they'll be the first ones drafted to go fight this mess.
Most Americans don't want a war.

If soldiers have died there's no way Trump doesn't escalate this. I certainly wouldn't trust his military advisors to temper the response either. After all, the Soleimani incident was not Trump's idea.

Apparently Iran flightier jets have taken off and are in air. Some people are saying that they are planning to intercept American aircrafts which have been launched from UAE (no idea how this is a good idea).

Oh I see. Thanks for the explanation. Rather depressing..

I know that people outside their borders are not fully human for any govt, and most people inside as well, but the US and her allies are the countries with the power to consistently put those feelings into action.

corbyn was the one man, a genuinely unique leader, who saw non-brits as human and now he's gone and that's that.

Thanks for the explanation.

Do you think the international community can hold talks with Trump to hopefully calm him down? Or is he more afraid of the military industrial complex?

He’s insane and there is nothing anyone can do.

'A US official tells CNN that are no reports of US casualties at this time but an assessment is still underway.'

I don’t think he’s scared, he just doesn’t understand what he’s doing. The US put a semi-senile TV reality star in a job where every action you take has huge international repercussions. And now we’re seeing the consequences of that.

the video is right, it shows the missiles landing. Iraqi soldiers shouting get inside.

Well this is all rather depressing and terrifying.

Trump will unquestionably ramp things up even further now.

They might just be scrambling and relocating to avoid being hit. Doubtful, more likely they are going to take a defensive position.

Is there confirmation that Trump is about to go live?

Yes, every channel has said so.

CNN:

In its Telegram channel, Iranian Revolutionary Guard says the “Pentagon reports that the US will respond to Iran’s attacks.”

IRGC then says in a footnote, “This time we will respond to you in America”

He's going to declare a war on Iran isn't he?

This makes more sense. In Iran, they might be able to do some damage (helped by defensive systems located there). Outside of it, they will be totally destroyed.
