IPL 2016

Fat cnut Pollard with that lazy bowling deserves to be smashed out of the park every time.

Looking a bit tough for MI and RCB to make it to knockouts. I think at least 8 wins will be needed to make it through. RCB have 4 wins out of 10. So, need to win all 4. Even 3 wins out of remaining 4 might not be enough. MI on 6 wins from 11. With a bad NRR, they may need to win all 3 of remaining. So many big hitters won't be in knockouts if both MI and RCB miss out. If current 4 stay as it is, there will be 3 teams who have never won it before(if one considers Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad as separate teams).

I think a team of

D Warner
S Dhawan
K Williamson
Y Singh
DJ Hooda
T Suman
N Ojha
B Kumar
T Boult
A Nehra
M Rahman

Would be excellent for SRH.

Nope Henriques has done just fine for them. I think SRH have got their first XI absolutely spot on tbh. Bhuvi and the Fizz were off colour yesterday but it won't happen too many times.

RCB have been a mess as usual. There was no need of putting Gayle back in and hampering the partnership of Rahul and Kohli. This should be their team, absolutely no idea why Mandeep Singh isn't getting a game.

Kohli
Rahul
AB
Watson
Mandeep
Sachin Baby
Binny
Richardson
Shamsi
Chahal
Aaron.

Delhi looks a bit good, great to see Karun Nair, Samson and Pant making their marks. All good talents and I'd be very disappointed if two of them don't become a regular fixture in our ODI team(Samson in all three formats really)

Kohli and the management have basically given up on the bowling which is why they went back to Head and then Gayle in the last game. I don't blame them. Shamsi and Richardson are both terrible. Jordan has been just as bad. Richardson had that one game where he had good figures but that was more down to Pune imploding and him bowling at the tail.

Mandeep was never really going to get a game in this team given the batting options. Might get a game now that they're all but out though.

Thats their problem. You can't afford to have the pair of them in a T20 team. Yesterday they faced over 61 balls between them and scored 61 runs, it pretty much neuters any chance of your batting winning you the game and relies on your bowling to bail you out every time.

Dhawan's form (I don't think he's actually playing particularly well, but he's the 2nd best batsman SRH have atm) means you have to keep him in over Williamson I'd say, but they need to do something about the fact that Warner's explosive starts are getting cancelled out by Dhawan going at a run a ball and the middle order being required to try and hit everything for six to make up for the stodge at the top.

Would any of you guys be interested in doing the NatWest fantasy Blast if it runs again this year? I think the format of the Blast suits a fantasy thing a lot better (split into Gameweeks rather than each game) but obviously its a lot less accessible if you're not familiar with the players knocking around the County scene.

They're not running it this year because 'not enough people took part to make it worth the cost of running it'. Cnuts missing a big trick if the idea is to promote the tournament.

Butler's been shit

A few cameos here and there but yeah.

I don't really like how they've been using him, its the old way England used him. Think he does much better up the order with time to assess the pitch than he is coming in either trying to save an innings or hit from ball one.

Have been disappointed with Williamson. Struggling to score run a ball. Guess not yet 100%

Henriques is one fast bowler too many and his batting is decent at best. Suman is a decent spin option iirc. 4 fast bowlers plus 3 spin options are better than 5+2 I think.

But yeah as you say why change something that ain't broken.

I just don't think he's a very good T20 player tbh, and I think its a problem thats exasperated when he's not given the power play overs to pick gaps.

That is what is surprising. Most technically sound batsmen seem to find boundaries with ease. Guys like Amla, Steven Smith, even the likes of Jayawardene weren't power hitters like maxi Gayle and all but they could score fast. Williamson seems to struggle.

Has anyone ever scored 100 off 50 balls before and been overshadowed this much?

What an innings, now all we need is GL to win this!

ps. cu'mon KKR (later)!

I like how during the PP, commentators were praising the slowness and turn like it was not going to be a typical Bangalore pitch.. What a day in fantasy as well. ;)
