IPL 2014

Yup it was.
They only gave Maxwell 3 games last season so were never going to retain him. Did bid for him this time but lost out. Their batting is still good, they jut need to sort the order out

Yup it was.
Its scary how many first teamers in other teams are ex-MI players. Goes to show the poor management there. They only end up buying the flavour of the season.

Ex MI players
at CSK: Bravo, Dwayne Smith, Nehra
at Delhi: Coultner Nile, Duminy, Karthik, Saurabh Tiwary,
at Punjab: Rishi Dhawan, Mitch Johnson, Maxwell, Thisara Perrera,
at Kolkata: Uthappa
ar Rajasthan: Binny, Iqbal Abdullah, Kulkarni, Rahane
at Bangalore: Nechim,
at Hyderabad: Dhawan, Henriques, Finch

Now I understand that due to multiple auctions, the same may stand true for all teams. But the ones that have been highlighted were those who were never given proper time to prove themselves like Rayadu was and went on to be first teamers elsewhere.

Maxwell performed well for them in the Champions League aswell. Also I'm not sure what Rohit Sharma is doing coming at no.4, he should be coming ahead of Rayudu or Taru.

Tbf, they wanted to retain Dinesh karthik, but he refused because he thought he'd be getting more money elsewhere. The rest is spot on. Mitch and Maxwell should never have been let go.

Pollard, Mitch, Maxwell and Malinga should have been their foreign players. They already had good indian base in Rohit, Rayudu, Harbhajan, Ojha.

I think that wasn't possible as you could only retain 4 players? Though that begs the question why you'd retain Harbhajan AND Ojha. Also Pollard seems criminally underused as he's so far down the order. Will also be interesting to see if the Corey Anderson gamble pays off.

Could retain 5 players and also used one right to match card, so basically you can retain 6 players.

MI were right to retain the Indian players because look at what happened with Karthik. If they left out Rayadu in there, he would have gone for 8 crores + as well.

You can only 4 foreigners and they were never going to drop Malinga or Pollard.

Mistake was not getting Dwayne Smith back who did not cost much as well. I would have gotten him and Johnson and Corey Anderson.

But generally yeah, they have always failed to back players properly like Rajasthan or Chennai do

I watch only Rajasthan;s matches, when possible. Big fan of Samson and like watching Rahane play.

Rest of the teams are very slog-heavy and I don't like that.

"Cuppu engalukku, aapu ungalukku" reads a Tamil banner held up by one group of Chennai fans. The cup is ours, the aapu is yours. Aapu, in Chennai slang, roughly means an unexpected jolt or setback, although much of its flavour is lost in translation.

Last year, when a prominent team official was implicated in the betting scandal, many Super Kings fans must have felt they were at the receiving end of an aapu.

From Cricinfo.. people on this forum who know Tamil will understand this.

HOLY SHIT!

What a catch!

fecking Yuvraj again...34 balls to score 31. No idea why deVilliers isn't sent ahead of him.

How the feck does a team with Kohli, ABDV and (yes) Yuvi get bowled out for 70?

Looks like RCB are on course for yet another double digit score. Pathetic.
Yet another batting lineup that looks amazing on paper and amusing on the field. We've seen many of these in cricket over the years.

They have 3 top batters. Yuvi is past it now. They need 1 if not 2 of these 3 to fire every game for them to get a good score.

I haven't been following this year's IPL as closely but who is this Takawale guy? And why is he playing ahead of AB and Yuvraj (who is not good enough anymore ... he's going down the Sehwag route)

And didn't AB open the batting with Gayle earlier? So why is Parthiv Patel doing that now?

They were pretty good last season. It was the bowling that let them down.
You're right, but I do watch RCB the most and the batting never had me confident last season and it's the same this season. I think it was a big mistake to tinker with the winning combination after 2 games and it's gone downhill since.

I don't think it was the changes as such (though Murali's inclusion baffled me). You can't legislate for the bottle job against KKR and that defeat seems to have had an effect on the confidence. They have a better team this season imo.

How terrible have the umpires been?

So disappointed in AB these last two matches. I'm always saying he should bat higher up the order but he had two chances and didn't deliver. He'll make up for it though.

KKR have the worst batting lineup in the league

Gambhir, Pathan need to be benched and Bisla, Al Hassan or Ten Doeschate need to be used more

Easily. Bloody sucks that they cant even score or chase 140 odd easily.

Pathan is so far past it that its not even funny anymore.

And yet they retained him on a bumper contract and not Tiwary, or Shami or any of the local boys

Gambhir is playing for the India squad so I doubt he will take tough calls which are needed right now

Yeah, its mental they retained him.

Epic last game. The composure from Smith. Wow.

What a shit umpire! Unbelievable stuff.

He is doing that right now.

He has taken Dale Steyn apart once again.

Atleast it was an exciting last over I suppose. Hyderabad losing from the position they were in going into the 19th over is ridiculous though.
