Internationals September (Euro Qualifiers)

Republic of Ireland have a tough must win game tonight against the Netherlands, if they lose its pretty much over for them.

FFS.

A performance to be proud of but not enough in the end. They’ve barely threatened us apart from a few shots from distance.

Should’ve punished them from one of the countless of counter attacks, but we lack quality in terms of the last pass etc.

A very good defensive performance in the low block, but we ran out of gas towards the end. Which is understandable after the 11hr flight (and time zone switch) from Kazakhstan.

The low tempo of Denmark’s game definitely worked for our advantage.

Slovenia away is a must win now.

Denmark score.

Very possible that all of Kazakhstan, Luxembourg and Moldova could automatically qualify.

That's one for everyone saying the minnows should just be put in pre qualifying as even 5 years ago those three were finishing on 1-2 points after 8 or 10 games.

Agree some of the minnows have made great progress.

It’s very nice to see some smaller nations improving. In terms of Kazakhstan I doubt they’ll qualify though. They’re tough to beat in Kazakhstan, but they’ll face all the three top teams away in their last four games.

That is why we saw Rudi Völler in the stands in Wolfsburg yesterday. He will work as interim manager for Germany.

Wieffer for De Roon and Malen for Wout. Improvements both. Now it's just Blind that needs fecking off.

Is that silly looking elderly man the President of Ireland? And why is he shaking everyone's hand?

Meh. They’re not that good that you could be proud of losing to them at home. Not even close to that level actually. Bizarre substitutions on second half, but Rive is allowed to make some mistakes. Draw is enough from Slovenia.

Simply comparing the clubs them and our players play for shows the difference. Never said I was proud of the result.

We were knackered and needed some energy in the second half. But in hindsight one could say some of the players brought in were not the right ones. But it’s not like we have that many in-form players to choose from.

A draw might be enough, you’re right.

Sure. But they lost in Kaz and drew in Slo. And haven't been in good form since WC. If it was some lucky bounce or refereeing error, one could be proud of the performance. But they deserved to win 0-1 and we created pretty much nothing. First half was totally fine, second not so much. Schüller is the only one who reads the passing lanes well, you keep him until the end. If he really couldn't finish the game, then bring another central midfielder on, not an attacker.

Still over 50% to qualify, just got to get that result from Slovenia.

And Michael D would be around the same age as the USA president Biden.

Correct call to give bazunu a yellow instead of a red on the penalty?

According to the rules. Personally I think that should still be a red.

Harsh to call the foul on Idah there.

6 of 1 and all that, Dick Van Dijk just fell over.

His prime was what one or two seasons? On commentary I'm watching Ronnie Whelan is trying his best to defend a poor showing by Van Dijk.

Does it matter? He might not have had the longest prime (Pickford ended that prime too early) but during that prime he was really really good.

The only reason we are not 3-0 behind is because Ireland obviously have Jameson instead of water in their bottles.

Never 'best PL CB ever' level that people would have you believe, though.
