Internationals March/June (Euro Play-Offs + Friendlies)

Austria against Slovakia had its highlight after 7 seconds and seemed to be a dull affair after that.

Also it seems that Southgate managed to lose with the best England squad of the past few decades against a poor Brazil. Imagine that guy being involved in transfers.

What really maters is June, but if they find the right lineup and playing at home don't see any special reason to say Germany cannot have a good tournament. One thing that puzzles for me regarding France is that as many top level players they produce I don't see where is the guy there to replace Griezmann, maybe I am wrong.

Griezmann was great but their primary issue in my opinion is that they can't control games. They either lack the coaching or the right midfielders for that. A Modric type of player would work wonders for them.

I think Germany will do far better in the summer than most people think.

Going into a home tournament on all time low, top seeds so get a straightforward group etc...we saw this script nearly 20 years ago and that was the springboard tournament they needed to become major contenders again for the next decade.

Their midfield is potentially very very good and that's where so many knock out matches are won or lost.

As for France....Deschamps seemingly favouring Upamecano over Saliba just feels bizarre. Saliba been one of the best CBs in the prem for nearly two years so not like he's just come to the fore in last few months.

They don't particularly need to, they're unplayable in transition. What they need is quality from deep. Which Griezmann provides because he's that ridiculous a player. That and a better box presence than Thuram maybe

They don’t produce that type of players, anyway they certainly will improve during the competition, but without Griezmann they aren’t the same team.

Mainoo and Toney apparently starting, hopefully Branthwaite does too.

Holy shit, Ødegaard and Bobb are combining beautifully at times. Haaland doing some nice lay-offs in tight spaces too.

Come on Poland, huge game tonight and it would be a bummer to miss out on Euros!
Oi, please be respectful. We support Wales on this forum tonight. They're England's little cousin who smells of wee, after all.

Be interesting to see how our midfield works tonight together for the first. That’s our first choice threesome I’d think. Shame Branthwaite didn’t get a start.

Holy shit, best penalty save I have seen. Haaland misses. Hard and low penalty all the way in the corner. I suspected it couldn't been legal by the keeper, but his foot is actually on the line when he shoots.

Maroune!!

At first I thought it was David James

Dunk gets a start after his mistake.
It was amusing that after Maguire went off, the goal scored against us was largely because both our central defenders made what could be considered 'Maguire-esque' mistakes. (Stones header was atrocious too.)

I hope Germany is less up for this than they were for their match against France :nervous:

I love Mainoo but I do worry about an 18 year old being asked to play increasing amounts of football.

I’m Polish and can’t fathom the idea of missing out on the tournament, sorry. Wales are still slight favorites according to the bookies though!

Georgia and Greece gone to penalties.

2-1 Georgia after two pens each.

Same lineup as v France, let's see if it works so well a second time.

this mainoo rice bellingham midfield is going to hit like crack

Nagelsmann will have to cook up a plan to deal with the force of nature that is Daley Blind at wing back(?), but otherwise the Dutch team doesn't actually look that inspiring on paper.
