Internationals March (Euro Qualifiers)

Right, we fixed the issue, next WC is ours.

France were foolish not to conserve more energy tonight. All that effort will cost them on Monday.

I understand the Irish contingent playing it down but traditionally the big boys don't go full throttle in the qualifiers particularly with games back to back like this. A narrow French win with a plucky Irish performance is the most likely.

I'd settle for that but France have depth and they'll be playing for places. Also they would murder us on half throttle more often than not.

French complacency is our best hope. If they play we can't live with them.

They did feck all really. They gave us the ball for about 75 minutes and put in a bit of effort a few times and scored 4.

Aye, I watched it. I was joking, they'd beat us if they had pints with their pre match meal.

Watching the highlights of Greece vs Gibraltar I'm semi confident we can steal a point playing Gibraltar at home on monday.

The passion the players and fans have for their country is unrivaled, I have never seen anything like it. This would never be possible in the cynical western world. I don’t know if that is good or bad mind because I’m cynical myself as a westerner.

So i guess you didn't see Iceland fans in the Euro 2016?
Or missed the german celebrations when they won the WC in 2014? Or Spain in 2010? Or Italy in 2006?

Also Argentina is as western as they can be, most of them literally descend from italian and spanish, many parts of their culture is rooted in european traditions, and most of their football clubs were founded by europeans...you couldn't have chosen a worse example of "non-western" country if you tried.

I never aligned the entire continent of South America with the western world actually, I don’t know why. There never seems to happen anything that affects global relations deeply unlike the stuff that happen in Europe, Asia or the Middle East. It is also not really the playground for the huge powers like Africa has always been and still is. In Europe we never learned anything about South America in school, there were no world wars there. In fact have there ever been big wars on your continent?
It always feels like the South American countries are just minding their own business, which is good Imo

That's because South America never had a proper superpower, the closest thing to it it's Brazil. That's why there is no repercussions in other parts of the world if something happens here, very simple.

And yes, there has been wars, not as big as in Asia or Europe, but there were : Chile vs Peru, Peru vs Ecuador, Chile vs Bolivia, Brazil+Argentina+Uruguay vs Paraguay, etc

Well but that has to do more with lack of info than anything else, we have been sadly quite a huge playground for many Global Powers, social, economical and political experiments and we'll still be, specially in the 60's and 70's.

In the 1800's in the Independence wars period, after and between them there were quite a few direct attemps of direct colonization from various countries like France, England etc after the Spaniards and Portuguese started to loose their grip, in fact what happened down here shifted in more than one way the course of the balance of powers in Europe during those days. And yes there were a copule of wars in the old days and some few "little" ones, but happily the majority of countries kept there hands out of the WW1 and WW2.

In some ways I felt that the countries involved at some point preferred this way to have at least kind of have a huge Switzerland in the size of a continent just in case.

If we are ever looking for a right winger - that guy Lukebakio looks like the real deal. Haven't seen him much - but he tore Sweden to shreds today. Pace, trickery and a superb left foot

Why is it that if someone gets something wrong on this forum there should always be someone who wants to put the record straight in a condescending manner making the other look dumb.
There is a lot I don’t know and I’m not ashamed to admit that.

I’m not even going to reply any further than this, I don’t like the tone.

Another random to have signed for Watford at some point.

Yeah it's strange that he was never given a chance there - because his stats once he moved to Fortuna D and Hertha Berlin have been really good. 1 goal every 3.5 games is pretty impressive for a young winger. Especially when he probably also has a lot of assists, his crossing was very good yesterday

@Fobal

Thanks for the reply
I know both USA and Russia have pushed for influence during the cold war but I’m not sure how far they got. Don’t think there were any proxy wars going on in Southern America, not sure?
Anyway it doesn’t matter, I’ll look it up!

McT couldn't have scored twice....he's a youth team level player at best.... something something...poor player....etc
