Iniesta to United

I approve of this thread.

In an interview with radio RAC 105 yesterday Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta spoke of his desire to one day play at the Theater of Dreams.

"I was talking to Kaka the other day and we both agreed that we'd like to engineer a move to United, so I've come to announce it on the radio," said the Barcelona talisman.

"I've done it all here in Barcelona and it's time to usher in a new era here, I'm looking for new challenges and United is an interesting challenge."

It is believed that Lazio and Fulham will fight newly appointed manager Louis van Gaal for the Spaniard's signature, but with the acquisition of Juan Mata and Ander Herrera many believe United are out front.

There's no chance this will happen but it would be nice to a quality experienced midfielder among our ranks. It would definitely benefit the younger players.

It's typical Iniesta paying respects to United and LVG. Xavi and Pique did that already multiple times with countless quotes about our club and players like Scholes or Giggsy.

Anders being a great guy on the pitch and outside is nothing new.

I relished doing that, personally....
....

As did I!
Rooney's departure in FIFA14 paved the way for Reus's arrival on the LW leading to a front 3 of Reus-RVP-Nani.
The team had real balance, as would our team in real life if we sold Rooney... but I'll defer to LVG's experience to see how he chooses to fit them in.

This would be akin to signing Zidane in the 2000's or Roberto Baggio in the 90's. An absolute wet dream but ultimately never gonna happen.

declining force...what on earth would Utd want him now...think he would struggle in the PL anyway nowadays

ive just had a retrospective wet dream at the idea of Roberto 'Dave Lister' Baggio in a united shirt.... great player, dosn't get enough credit.

Would lose my shit if we signed Iniesta. Was lucky enough to see him live last week, magical magical player. Don't care if it costs 100m, I'd be over the moon to see him in a United shirt.

It'll never happen of course, but one can dream.

so any player that says they respect or admire Van Gaal is automatically now a transfer target? ok

Why is this a thread?
i think it proof the parallel universes exist.... basically the idea is that is if something can exist then it will exists so that fact that the probability of it existing is so low it means that billions of other universes have to exist for this thread not to exist in........

well Van daal said he respected Vidal now half united fans think us signing him is a done deal........so are you really surprised?

 Dave Lister! Nice. Never saw that until now. But yes, Baggio was absolutely incredible. One of my favourite players ever.

Fulham are interested? Ah feck didn't know that, way to dash one's hopes...

Apparently Andy Iniesta is demanding that the Michael Jackson statue be appointed Fulham manager and be permanently installed on the sidelines of Craven Cottage. So they're not sure if he's really worth it.

On topic, if the price is right, then hell yes. But we have a couple of other priorities.

Well that's us clearly out of the running, Fulham can go have him then with their cracking new manager whilst we're stuck with Herrera :(..

Yes, van Gaal is so reliant on the 442 that he wouldn't consider altering that formation to work in someone like Iniesta. He would be an impact sub at best and would have to play as a striker.

I can't believe people think this is beyond Iniesta's capabilities. You can't compare him to someone like Mata or Kagawa because he's been a top class centre mid as well as being a top class attacking midfielder.

But then do you waste his talents by making him change his game? Iniesta will probably go into a more reserved role as he ages but still, I would rather us spend silly money on someone else.

I think playing him as one of the more attacking centre mids in a midfield three and allowing him to influence all aspects of play is him at his best, and playing him as an AM - either out wide or as a #10 - is when he tends to be more reserved.

Of course! Just like every Dutchman is a target - we were linked with van Gogh last week.

 @ the past it comments! The guy would automatically be the best player in the PL. This is not happening though as Barca would be mental if they sell him.

Of course he isn't coming. But at least we can believe that his admiration for our manager is shared by our own players.

I find it amusing that Iniesta is the one speaking about our manager now as an ex-player of his. We had Tim Cahill talking about how United will adapt to David Moyes last season.
