i've been on the Iniesta bandwagon for years, just the Messi bandwagon took off a little quicker and left the INiesta bandwagon behind
They should of had one penalty imo and I've already stated that at the time, lets not make it out like Chelsea are the only team to be denied entry into the next round after a harsh decision.
These things happen and in my personal opinion if you go out and play like Chelsea did you deserve everything you get.

Iniesta has plenty of freedom, as Gerrard likes. He's mainly relied on to close the ball down, rather than be positionally aware at all times, like Gerrard likes. He's relied on to provide a creative threat, which Gerrard likes.

He lacks the intelligence, dribbling or passing consistency Iniesta has, that's why.
Yet unlike Gerrard he can beat people for fun with the ball at his feet and has superb positioning sense. It really is no contest. Gerrard is no way near Iniesta as a midfielder.
He is believed to be a Kaka type of player.
I'd have Iniesta over Gerrard anyday. Players like the former who can run football matches like he can are rare, and footballers like those actually having such technical skill and the ability to beat players with skill is even rarer. He's a uniquely gifted footballer. The difference last night.

You can see why Barca put up such little resistance when Arsenal poached Fabregas because in Iniesta they really do have a superior player in my opinion, he can offer them a lot more and that's no criticism of Fabregas because I think he's a very good player - just that Barca knew what they had.

However on 2nd thoughts, Iniesta has more in his arsenal than Scholes. He can certainly dribble much better and is faster than Scholes ever was in his prime. One question though, for those whom have watched him for quite a bit, does Iniesta score as frequently as Scholes used to do for us?

I think Ever Banega can become something similar. Somewhere between a Xavi and an Iniesta. Probably more of a Xavi than an Iniesta though due to not having as much mobility as Iniesta, so perhaps you wouldnt be able to play him on the wing like Iniesta.
Still has a lot to prove and a long way to go, but he's made of talent and his distribution and skill are top class. Also Argentine, so he has that low centre of gravity they are all born with.

If he adds goals and more consistent end product to his skills he will be the best player in the world no doubt. Could be Zidanelike in his impact on football Terrific player.

Scholes' passing vision still is and has been much better than Iniesta's as was his instinct for goal and finishing. Iniesta has other qualities that are better. Very tough comparison. Iniesta's probably more talented.

He's the current Giggs. A central midfielder or winger with very good dribbling skills and and very good vision for a pass, but not a great scoring record.
