I think Ratcliffe mentioned that it will take three years before we're properly competing with the top teams

Thats ridiculous if he said it as Man Utd who are the biggest club in the country so should not be taking 3 years to compete with the top teams especially when Ole had us competing with the top teams a couple of seasons ago with 2nd and 3rd place finishes.

I could understand if they said it will take at least 3 years to win the title but 3 years just to compete is a joke, where is the ambition.

I think he meant in the terms of consistently challenging, we seem to have very bipolar seasons from one to the next.

Three years really isn't all that long in the grand scheme of things.

The ambition is there and was clearly stated.

But in order to reach it we need a total rebuild - starting from the structure and then to the management staff and the team itself. Add the financial constraints, and that could take time.

Nothing wrong with being a little conservative in time assessments. And anyhow, no one can actually predict if it will take two or three or four years. Football isn't a car factory.

After 5 years of owning Nice they ended up 9th in the French league. Just compare Qatar owned PSG who were a mid-table club before they were bought, to Nice, INEOS and Qatar competing in the same league its clear to see who is doing better, PSG have won 9 out of 10 titles or something.

No shit state ownership is a cheat code man, you just worked that out?

I didn’t say PsG were stopping Nice did I? Nice are exactly where their spending/wage bill expects them to be.
Nice have underperformed under Ineos. Whats worse, Ratcliffe promised Nice fans he'd get the club competing with/challenging PSG when he took over in 2019. Nice actually challenged for the league title in 2017/18 and were one of the best run clubs in French football. They've gone backwards

He did not make us compete with the champions. Ever.

”Challenged for the title”

They finished 8th that season, on 54 points. The following season they finished 7th on 56 points, then INEOS took them over and Nice have only once took less than 56 points in a season since then.

As for “best run clubs”, have a read:

https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.c...n-lee-the-mysterious-e22m-december-2018-loan/

Claiming Nice challenged for the title and were well run is like claiming the Glazers challenged for the title in 2021 and were well run.

Nice are currently 5th, with the 6th highest wage bill in the league.

There’s the facts, use them accordingly, there’s no need to make shit up man.

He did, we were top in January and finished 2nd only 12 behind City after losing to Leicester and Liverpool in 2 of our last 3 games when the protests forced us to play twice in 3 days.

Also I might be wrong but didnt Ole's side beat City more times than they lost to them.

The interesting things(for me at least) are :

The changes they're planning for Carrington?

The improvements in the Medical department?

The improvements in the Data Science department?

The improvements in the Fitness department?

The improvements in the Sport Psychology department?

Maybe establishing departments that didn't exist before.

I'm carefully optimistic about the direction they're taking the club in and the moves they're making, but given the endless number of false dawns we've had over the last 11 years, I'm not going to criticize anybody who doesn't share my optimism. So I definitely don't think OP deserves the abuse he's been getting, even if I vehemently disagree with his conclusions.
