India vs WI

ganguly was brilliant ..

dhoni killing them atm ..

338/3 WOW

I always had the impression Karthik was a better keeper than Dhoni. Perhaps he should be the one keeping with Dhoni playing as a specialist batsman if necessary. Its also puzzled me (especially in the last game with a couple of slip catched being dropped) why the second wicketkeeper doesn't field at slip. Given that he's a wicketkeeper by trade, shouldn't slip be a reasonably natural position for him?

so Karthik is playing as a pure batsman for us now? is a dhoni a better keeper? i haven't seen karthik keep.

He's a very decent keeper...

I'd say he's seems more natural behind the stumps than Dhoni.

did you watch the game today? did powar impress? i've never really liked him. and how come sreesanth didn't play today?

we don't seem to be anywhere close to settling on our best eleven. with yuvraj coming back will gambhir be dropped or karthik?

I kept wicket myself, catching techniques are completely different with gloves.

The slips are the domain of the old, fat and slow.

Powar is a dependable bowler, I really don't think he's international class. I hope he doesn't know I post here, he's a very good friend of my cousin and visited our house a few times last summer.

Yuvraj is a must. Karthik has looked class in SA and today, he's probably cemented his place for the forseeable future. He'll also make sure Dhoni keeps his feet firmly on the ground.

I still reckon Ganguly will struggle in WI with fast bouncy wickets. He'll be targeted big time with short deliveries.

they'll probably bring back sehwag, munaf and pathan for the next 2 games. the team that plays the ODIs against Sri lanka will probably be the one that makes it to the World Cup.

what do you have against india?

Nothing.

I love India and Indians.....there is a fairly sizeable community in Zimbabwe with their own 'Little India' in the surburb of Belvedere in Harare, where the main street is known as The Ganges.

Just that WI and England are my adopted favourite international cricket sides. The former it is a racial thing I guess, the later....well...the mind boggles because we are supposed to dislike our former colonisers. South Africa, arrogant neighbours and all, are my third favourite team followed by India.

Pakistan and Australia I dislike passionately.

New Zealand, I am a little ambivalent there.

My own beloved Zimbabwe is now completely hopeless because politics connived to destroy a side that was fairly competitive. Now they are probably worse than Kenya.

Nice day.

The demise of Zimbabwean cricket is depressing. :( You guys were starting to form a competitive team with a backbone of very good cricketers, (Olonga, Flower brothers, Heath Streak, Taibu, Campbell, and even Blignaut was a fine batsman on his day), and in a couple more years of development would have been able to hold your own against the likes of WI, SL and Pakistan and India at home. I still remember as a NZ supporter our first ODI series loss to you, and thinking that you were destined to become a formidable force in ODI cricket. Yet your team was torn apart just as this was happening, and now unfortunatley you will not recover unless something is done to the management of your cricket. :(

who dropped those catches? dravid and sehwag usually stand at slips and are pretty decent there.

Sehwag didn't play, Dravid wasn't fielding there. Tendulkar dropped one and Utthappa (i'm not sure why he was fielding there) dorpped the other.

We have pretty good test slips with Dravid, Laxman and Sehwag with Tendulkar also being decent but can't seem to make up our mind on the slips in the one-day version.

Also with Yuvraj, Kaif and Raina not playing, the general standard of fielding has dipped considerably. We look like the lumbering fielding team of old with a lot of fumblers and trundlers to hide and not enough positions to hide them in.

I think they could've got to New Zealand's standards, eventually, i.e. middle of the road side, that are pretty decent at home. I can recall Sri Lanka's early years. Like Zimbabwe they were truly awful at beginning, but improved beyond doubt in the early 90's. The world cup win, made the game even more popular on the island. At the moment, they're in the NZ bracket, if anything a tad better side, in both forms of the game.

thanks for clearing that up. the state of affairs of zimbabwean cricket is indeed disturbing. andy flower is one of my all-time favorites. it's sad that to see politics come in the way of a nation's progress, even if it's just in a sport.

This is the first time since i can remember that i just dont care about a series. I havent watched a single ball of these two games.

Squad for the last two one-day internationals against the West Indies
Rahul Dravid (capt), Sachin Tendulkar (vice-capt), Robin Uthappa, Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wk), Dinesh Karthik, Suresh Raina, Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan, Sreesanth, Ajit Agarkar, Anil Kumble, Ramesh Powar, Harbhajan Singh

mehro do you rate Yuvraj Singh as a player? I have always liked him as a player and India seem a much better cricketing team with him in it. And how good exactly is Mahendra Singh Dhoni? I have seen him bat a few times and looks a wonderful batsman, and a much more complete player than the slogger tag people associate him with.

Yuvraj is possibly our best batsman in the last year or so, behind Dravid. Has all the talent in the world and is finally fulfilling it. Dhoni is one of those player who has that something special about them. He can really tear apart teams and wins games. Problem is i think we've overhyped the latter ridiculously.

No. You haven't.

Dhoni is a class act IMO.

He has. You wouldnt have believed the hyped over him a few months back. Its just calmed down a bit after hes had a bit of a stutter. What we need though to be a top side is Pathan to return to form.

203/3 after 29 overs!

I wish I could see this.

One wicket gone. :D :D :D

I think the atmosphere at our cricket grounds pisses all over football matches.

india was 232/3 in 37 ..
i go out and shit happens

gooooo the bowlers

It was like watching a train crash in slow motion 7 wickets for 30 odd runs... pathetic.
