India vs West Indies

Shiv Chanderpaul is getting on a bit. Fidel Edwards looks a very promising bowler though, bowls a well-pitched albeit inconsistent delivery. His line will come with time, the length he gets on his deliveries is fantastic.

Bit of a stretch calling a 29 year old with 44 test matches to his name 'promising' isn't it?

FWIW, he was fecking superb in 2009ish and would probably have made a lot of people's World XIs. Spent a long time out of the game with what I assume was a bad injury, but he's come back and bowled with all of his old fire.

Cracking bowler when on form. Can genuinely hurry a batsman with his pace, has a crazy bouncer as you pointed out, and can get vicious outswing in overcast conditions. The failings of his early career have sadly left him with an average of 38, which will decline quickly enough.

The weather forecast for tomorrow's pretty good apparently do there's still a chance for a result though that depends on us getting a move on and declaring with 80 overs to bowl at the Windies.

Good squad for England today, pretty much the expected one although Saha and Mukund are surprises.

Good, early declaration by India today, kudos to Dhoni for doing this regardless of the result IMO. It shows the amount of confidence our team has right now.

Needed a reserve opener, Sehwag will miss the first two tests.

A dearth of openers in domestic cricket, I guess. Although Mukund's been getting plenty of runs, he doesn't look like the real deal. Pujara, Kohli, Yuvraj, Raina, Rohit all jostling for that middle order spot.

I don't like the idea of starting the tour with Mukund opening at Lord's. The good thing, though, is that Lord's seems reasonably flat and it could be a draw. Glad Sehwag's missing that one.

Final test today..

5 wickets in 4 innings for Harbhajan on pitches where 300 has been the par score... let's hope he stops being a useless cnut because the England tour's around the corner.

No?

Well, it's probably 50 less than that.

Anyway.

Mukund. Boring fecker, isn't he? Great temperament. Too defensive, though. Shame about the technique, bad on the eye.

He is much, much better than Vijay.

Who was the genius who decided to have a test series during the Caribbean monsoon?

He is much, much better than Vijay.

Vijay's been spoiled by T20. I thought he looked superb in his debut. Made 40~ in both the innings against Australia. He goes chasing outside the off stump too much now. He was good in the test he played against Sri Lanka as well, he got 88 or something.

He's been terrific in T20 for my local team, but that's been his undoing.

I think he is bit a flat track bully. Got a decent century against Aussies IIRC but it was also on an Indian pitch, he has looked thoroughly incompetent on this track,

Once again Dhoni performs when there was some scrutiny over his form.

This is shaping up to be an interesting end to the series. India have secured the draw and have an outside chance at victory. 112 runs needed in 26 overs with 9 wickets in hand. They could bat sensibly for 10 more overs and then give it a go I guess.

Yup, seems a sensible option.

The umpiring in this match has been terrible btw, Some decisions given WIndies Batsmen have been awful.

What an utterly ridiculous decision to end the match with a draw.

Cricket loses again

Draw.

I've never understood why 5 an over for the last 15 overs is deemed impossible in a test match. The fields are far more attacking than an ODI, why can't the batsmen give it a go?

Agreed.

Cowardly decision...if a team can't stick for another hour then it doesn't deserve to win the series in my eyes.

90 runs in 15 overs not possible. Did you see the line Bishoo was bowling? Wide outside leg and a lot of turn. Not possible to score against that.

180 in 47, however, was possible. They should've tweaked the batting order. Laxman at 3, probably, would've been better. Anyone but Dravid. We should've showed a lot more intent and a lot more earlier, but at the point which we accepted a draw, I don't think any other result was possible.
