Laxman getting in on the act. A lead of 350+ should be enough towin the testI reckon.

End of play

India 146-5

Great day for India, a lead of 311.

How fecking brilliant is this people?? :D
Really proud of the team today. The application from the big four as i mentioned yesterday was great to see, and today the bowling effort was outstanding. Mehro, seriously, when have we had a pace attack like this? If theres one thing this lot can do, its swing the cricket ball. And Munaf and Pathan, the brightest talents are out of the team.

Fabulous day for Indan cricket. Its happening more often away from home, but obviously as has happened in SA before it can all go wrong very very quickly.

To be honest, this would have been an ideal wicket for Pathan...
Pathan instead of VRV for me. VRV has looked average everytime hes played for the country. Doesnt seem to move the ball at all. Its all very predictable. Pathan would have been perfect for this pitch. Pathan, Sreesaanth, Zaheer and Kumble is a quality attack.

On the eve of the Test, Mickey Arthur had spoken with more than a hint of cockiness about how the curators had been asked to prepare pitches that had plenty of pace and bounce. Famous last words?

it's only vrv's 3 match. guess they want to give him a chance to impress. i still don't see why munaf wasn't picked. he's taken 24 wickets in the 6 matches he's played. anyway, won't complain as long these boys perform. still would like to munaf and pathan back later. they're the 2 most talented ones i feel.

Just what i said about Munaf and Pathan. Everyone here knows im a huge fan of Pathan, for me, hes the best talent i've seen in the game in recent times. The kid has everything. Munaf is a huge talent as well, gets real steap bounce and has very good control. Add to that the bowlers on show who are doing so well and lets not forget Harbhajan. VRV has played a few ODI's as well not looked great. RP Singh is apparently hitting 140 regularly now, and theres always Agarkar. IMO thats the best lot of bowlers i've ever seen for India atleast talent wise. Need a bowling coach i think, theres definately a lack in the management of our pace attack, in pace in particular.

Oh and Munaf is injured. Did you hear Gavaskar have a go at him when they showed him outside the boundary ropes wearing the India shirt untucked??

The thing with oue bowlers is once they are in the test setup they seem to start losing pace for some inexplicable reason. In VRV's defense he has barely bowled so far this test and was decent with the bat. Also Pathan relies heavily on being able to reverse swing the ball and I don't think any of the bowlers managed that today or yesterday.

India on their way to win their first ever test win in South African soil whilst England are getting the right hammering. Also last night a group of Marwari women fatally flogged Donado with broomsticks and other weapons somewhere in Karol Bagh market for some bizzare reasons...Life cannot get better.

 Malbari women are pretty nasty at the best of times.

2 quick Wickets have fallen although Laxman is still there.

If we win the test series it will make up for the dismal one day form definitely.
I always rated Zaheer Khan. Pathan's place in the side is very shaky right now.

Whether Pathan finds a regular slot or not its always great to have a set of four or five bowlers capable on walking in to the test team. Australia and even England have that previlege, we dont have.

We've had talented bowlers like Nehra and Balaji who showed some potential but didn't have the mettle to force strong comebacks after they got sorted out once or twice.

true. With Patel, Khan, Sreesanth and Pathan we might finally have a decent pace attack to go along with the best spin attack in the world.

Jacques Kallis, very much the cornerstone of South Africa's Test side, is embroiled in a controversy over his refusal to sing the national anthem. A report in South Africa's Sunday Times suggests that Cricket South Africa will ask for an explanation from him after the Johannesburg Test.

The current anthem, first sung in 1996, is a combination of Nkosi Sikelel'iAfrika, which was a symbol of the resistance to Apartheid, and Die Stem (The Call of South Africa), which was adopted as the national anthem by the Apartheid regime in 1957. The issue regarding Kallis was first raised by a Sunday Times reader, Ebrahim Sadak, who wrote in to Cricket South Africa asking whether Kallis thought he was indispensible or "anti new
SA".

Ros Goldin, Cricket South Africa's marketing manager, wrote back to him saying: "While we do encourage all our players to sing the anthem, it is at their discretion whether they wish to do so. Jacques's choice not to sing is certainly not due to his being anti SA or because he thinks he is indispensable! It is simply his right within a democratic environment not to sing."

She went on to cite examples of other sportsman who didn't sing, including some South Africa footballers and rugby players, but Sadak wasn't appeased. Eventually, he got a reply from Kallis himself. "It is my choice whether I sing or do not sing the anthem," it said. "I certainly do not
have to explain my reasons to anyone, especially you. I do have good and valid personal reasons and I intend to keep it that way."

Interesting stuff from an article on Cricinfo. Making big news in SA
