I'm glad we've been saving Veron for European games

He was the best player tonight, although he had couple of bad moves. Assisted for Ruud's penalty and had some other great passes. He was played out of position, and United did not have a midfield. Only but and Scholes were the ones making tackles.

Bollocks what game did you watch, he was complete sh!te... Nicky Butt was superb in Midfield my Utd MOM, Blanc played solid until second goal. Unfortunately Giggs, Veron and Scholes were well below their best..!

ok, ok. I'll say second-best. However, I never said he was playing great, I just said his performance was, well ok, second best, out of all the other crap performances. You have to remember that if it wasn't for him, we could have been 2:0 down. He started both attacks from which we scored, and it's not his fault he played bad because, as I already said, there was no midfield and he was played out of possition.

Commanding performance by Turkey tonight, although it seems some just don't appreciate his sublime talent.

I am sorry to say, and I have bitten my tongue, but Veron was a disgrace tonight. He has to buck up his fecking attitude.

Veron: when u will deliver ???,,,Frankly, i think we play better when he is injured.

What amazes me is that alot of people are actually shocked by his performance.

that's right...out come all the Veron knockers....and i suppose rvn, solksjaer, scholes, giggs et all had the game of their lives...if only Veron had played to his absolute best, we'd have won, what, 10-0....screw you bloody fickle lot...and the MOM was definitely Ballack....Utd's best player was Silvestre....looked to be the only one aiming for a win....it was a crap performance by the whole team....had a downright lethargic look the lot of em....jedi master will scythe with lightsaber, the next dingbat who takes a swipe at Veron for the poor display of the WHOLE bloody team!!!!!

Agreed. Veron was no better or worse than any of them, AND he was played out of position. At least he helped keep Ze Roberto quiet.

No they didn't actually

But they have had good games this season, whereas.........

give us a break. Veron played tonight like he couldnt give a toss. If he's not fit, dont play him, if he is fit the least he can do is put the effort in. Keano showed more in 5 mins than Veron did in 90!

Err, sorry that I don't agree.

Sometimes I feel that as long as footballers run and run like headless chickens fans will be delighted - even if it brings absolutely nothing. Seba wasn't bad, he wasn't great. None of our players were.

That's a bit harsh, calling him United's achilles...come on now, give the man a break!!!

we'll have to agree to disagree then.
I've tried to hold back from knocking him all season (nearly made it) but tonights performance from him really disappointed me. Euro-Cup semi final, at home...surely set for the big game player like Veron.
Constantly gave the fecking ball away.
Maybe 4 good passes all night.
Admittedly he was out of position, but surely a 30m superstar can do a job anywhere across midfield. He could start by trying to hold onto the ball.
In fact he was lucky he wasnt sent off. He had a couple of crafty kicks at the back of some guys ankle whilst he was sat on his ass.

Such an eloquent reply.

Veron looked like he was completely shot from around 70 minutes. That's fair, he has been injured, but I was surprised he wasn't substituted.

We looked as though we played the last 20 minutes with 10 men as a result, and we never looked like getting the initiative back after it went 2-2. I think the substitutions when they did happen were about making sure it was no worse.

The situation is, I'm afraid, that if we want to keep Seba we should play him in midfield. Otherwise there was just not point signing him.

It's very simple, tonight was a bad team performance, we all know we can do better. Regardless of how badly Veron played, he's going to start next week, so let's support him and the rest of the team.....Okay, now i'm out of inspirational words...GO UNITED!!!

Don't worry, mates! He'll come back home very soon, where he belongs, he he he he!

After all, it's not a crime if many of you don't understand his kind of play...He makes the ball run, others run after the ball. Simple, as football.
Although just out of an injury, he set up the penalty and almost scored the third goal: only a miracle from their goalie ruined it all.

I keep noticing there are far many Man Utd fans that don't really deserve to have Seba in the Red Devils jersey!

know what jedi....jedi master think this bloke may have a point here....Lazio fans truly appreciated the Veron masterclass even when he sometimes `underperformed', shame Utd fans don't get behind their players the same way, shame indeed...but don't you worry Pier, all these fickle imbeciles will be right back going gaga over him after a masterclass display in the Bay Arena....after all, with all due respect, Lazio are no means the same huge club Utd are....a whole lot more glory-hunters over here, mate
;)

Veron was outstanding against Deportivo. His passing is the most incisive at the club. No player would have seen the pass that put Solskjaer through to score against the spaniards let alone play it to perfection.

Regarding tonight's performance let's get a few things straight:

He's been injured and not fully match fit.

He was asked to play out wide on the right and starved of possession, as such he struggled to get into the game.

He still set up RVN's penalty and played a defence splitting ball through to RVN - which he failed to control and should have had a shot on goal at least.

I can't believe the criticism Veron receives, especially from UTD fans. He's a UTD player for goodness sake. He needs encouragement not whinging, prawn munching critics who sit back and say "go on then...impress me." Veron has sometimes been outstanding, sometimes average in what is an outstandingly talented team. But he has NOT been as bad as people make out.

If we're not careful we'll drive Veron away. A player when he is allowed to play in his best position and dictate play (instead of defering to Keane)is one of the best in the world. Next season, if we haven't driven him away, will see him come good. Mark my words.

My outlook was that he played as well (or better than) as any of the other midfielders (barring Nicky), and that being played entirely out of position. He should never have been played in the wide-right position, for he can't control the game from there. When he came into the middle, he was involved in two goals, so that isn't bad. Butt played better, but not all that great. Lets face it, we were lucky to even draw that match, Bayer were the better team. Its all well and good to have a go at Veron, but frankly, Ruud was shite, Ole wasn't doing anything, Giggs was useless for the most part, and while Scholes started off well, he just dropped off after around the 30th minute. Butt was the best midfielder, but only just barely, for he was caught out many a time, and were it not for Blanc and Silvestre, Bayer could have scored a whole lot more.

Quality play list:
1. Silvestre
2. Blanc
3. Wes, I thought he did well enough
4. Butt
5. Veron
....The rest.

I think it was the general "I don't give a shit" attitude from Seba that got on everyone's tits more than anything.

The way United played, at home, it looked as if there was a general case of I don't give a shit.

True

But yet, he just wasn't there

He was so lethargic

Hardly tracked back after his man and when he did, he never got anywhere near him

I'd understand this if at least he would've added something offensively, but honestly he added nothing

He seemed afraid to make any physical contact, he went down for about 3 tackles all night and then these were just pathetic really

I agree that he, like other players, doesn't play as well when played out-of-position but there are basic things, like stopping the ball or giving a 2-yard pass that one has to do well at this level, no matter where you're played

I'm very disappointed to be honest, it seems the lad just can't find any sort of consistent form.

Well, I agree he wasn't quite there tonight, but my point was that he was hardly the only one. Veron is never a physical player, so we have to realize this by now. Offensively, he wasn't bad, and made United's most dangerous moves, hell, he made all of United's moves. No offense, if Ruud could have controlled a pass tonight, United would be in better shape than they are. But back to Veron, he only made a couple of bad passes at the end, and granted, one ended as a dangerous break, but then again, Nicky gave away a stupid ball and Bayer had a 6 on 4 break then too. Were it not for some good defending by Blanc and Silvestre, it could have been bad today. United, as a whole, played like shite, and made Bayer look bloody brilliant. They deserved to win, and rather than complain about Veron, I am simply happy we didn't lose 4-2.
