If Jose gets the job what does it mean for Mata?

How do you know that? RVP is very likely considering that he is his Holland captain, but Rooney? It might happen or not. We are talking for the player who played a 19 years old Muller and a crapy Olic on Bayern while leaving on the bench the best goalscorer of German national team (Klose), the last season top goalscorer of Bundesliga (Toni) and the player who broke the transfer record on Germany (Gomez). We are talking for a person who sees things differently to most of people, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if we see some surprising decisions by him (like not playing Rooney as a starter).

I wasn't aware of these things, very interesting!

Just because Mata didn't fit into Mourinho's system some ppl have now convinced themselves that he can only play No 10 for us. Where would Silva or Nasri play for us then? Would we also question what would happen to them if another manager joined? Mata's best position is No 10 but that doesn't mean he is useless in other roles. You just need a good manager who knows how to use your attacking players and of course you need a midfield who is a bit better than our current one. Just because we don't have that midfield and that manager yet, doesn't mean that we should call a player kind of useless in other roles when in fact he is a very versatile player.

At Valencia (where he actually played his best football, even better than at Chelsea) for the first 2-3 years he mainly played on the left for them while Silva occupied No 10. And even then at times he played as striker/second striker, but also on the wing/Left midfield in a 442 at times. Only after Silva moved to City in 2010 he moved to No 10 for a year, before he himself then moved to Chelsea, where he again played in different roles very successfully by 3 managers with different style of play (AvB, RdM, Benitez).
He now might or might not be one of the first names on the next permanent manager's team sheet, but please Mata didn't start playing football in 2013 when Mourinho joined Chelsea and if you haven't followed him before that and at Valencia then at least don't make a judgement on his suitability to play different roles based on Mourinho's decision to get rid off him or based on Moyes' use of him.

If Mou gets the job then he will have to accommodate Mata like he accommodated the less than defensively adept Ozil and Ronaldo at RM. A team can usually carry one defensively weak player without much fuss. Plus Mata isn't short of effort like Ozil/Ron are, he's just not very strong in the tackle.

You make a good case for him but this is the blood & guts Premier League, where nearly every game is a war, certainly the games between the top seven & virtually every game (these days), featuring our Club.

Giggs & Beckham were taught from a young age to track back & support the full back, a task they did brilliantly. In an age where (opposition) attacking full backs are of increasing importance & threat, Mata & Kagawa, are going to be exposed. That's why I'd again disagree & say he is a wonderful, cultured player but he only has the forward no10 spot, as an option & I'd take Modric over the guy every time.

Can we make up the rest of the lyrics with Mourinho words?

You can try. That's as far as I could get.

OK then, you've twisted my arm.

Do you know the way to sign Jose?
Kick Bobby Charlton's arse out of Old Trafford,
We've been waiting long to sign Jose
Just hope he doesn't bring John Terry along
Send a limo down the motorway
Full of cash and bottles of red plonk

Carry on mate...

Don't know if anyones brought this up yet, but if Jose becomes the new manager does it put Mata's future with us in question? Or will he be fine because of the different circumstances?
Sorry, it's absolutely irrelevant. Mourinho will NEVER become Manchester United Manager. He is actually one of the reasons we got stuck with Moyes - United did and do not want managers who are flakey, getting into needless controversies. Moyes is not known for that and never will be, one of the reasons he was approved.

Louis Van Gaal has a reputation for being unusual but he fits the criteria better than Mourinho. Mourinho is also way too familiar, we've seen his antics many times in the Premier League as well as in Europe. Not going to happen. I'd love Van Gaal but it seems to me that Ancelotti is the one. He has the proven success and the right way of presenting himself and behaving.

And before anybody says 'But Ryan has that bad rep because of his efforts to keep his affair with his brother's wife out of the media and of course people laugh at him over it', our Ryan is a Salford lad (via Cardiff of course), and as much part of United as the Busby Babes and the Stretford End. Ryan Giggs is a United Legend.

He stuffed up with his private life becoming public and looked like a rotter but he has always conducted himself near perfectly on the pitch, he does not make the papers for controversies as a rule. However, the next Manager will come from outside the club and he needs to be somebody who is not controversial in the way Mourinho is.

Jose had a similar player in sneider at inter and he used him perfectly.. Just down to the players he'll have available..

the jose boat sailed last summer when he was available and went to chelsea, he might have decided he was going there no matter what, he might have even turned us down, we might have never tried but there is no way he's leaving chelsea after less than a year in charge again. we might have had a chance if he'd gone anywhere else but he won't want to tarnish his reputation at chelsea by leaving them so soon as it would be a big feck you to all their fans and would paint them as small fry compared to us.

Yeah posters with "thought" didn't consider David Moyes as a viable candidate last year

Your tagline says it all, pats little Rammie on the head. Moyes had long been a candidate , well mentioned in almost every discussion of who would replace SAF for a couple of years before he retired. So once again you are a bit off there. Jose is not coming this summer, Chelsea is not firing him, he is not quitting, United is not going to pay his way out of the contract.

I agree

He won't get the job, but if he was to come, I doubt Mata would be in the team. Mourinho likes pace, power and energy. Mata, although a top player, doesn't give you that, which is why he didn't play at Chelsea.

 I am shocked Mourinho has ruled himself out!

He'd be sold in preference for someone else in the squad whose form would then drop off a cliff and make Maureen look really silly.

I have to admit,, you are good at being an annoying little **** fair fecks to you. Jose was the much preferred choice between himself and Moyes and when asked ahead of time not many picked Moyes. Regardless of that the question was a fair one. IF not WHEN Jose got the job what would it mean for Mata. You carry on there little Rammie over and out

Won't be happening so nothing to think about. If we thought our style of play was bad under Moyes can you imagine it with Mourinho, f*ck that sh*t.
