Probably would be if he sees it through. Since the LBW review and drop, he's looked like he doesn't even believe he could get out.

Afghanistan have 290 here at a run rate of close to 6, and if Australia get bowled out for 100, their run rate would be 2 giving a difference of 4. It’s in Australias interest to get as many runs as possible - so they can give up on going for victory and just play risk free cricket to maximise the runs they make, as going for the win no probably condemns them to a lower score.

There is a bit more nuance to net run rate but that’s essentially it. That number gets averaged out over the tournament. A big loss like the one Australia are staring at right now isn’t good for their nrr.

Ah, thanks. I guess it makes sense that they calculate it on 50 overs regardless of if they actually gave that many.

Even Cummins and Zampa can win this now for Oz. I think they are just giving Maxwell one more over to hit any if he can.
 
Cummins has scored 50 off 14 in the IPL.. he needs to start hitting a few boundaries.
 
This is such ordinary bowling from Afghanistan. Their inexperience in this situation is really showing.
 
FFS just bowl wide yorkers to Maxwell. He has no footwork to play any meaningful shot there. They keep bowling on his pads
