ICC Champions Trophy 2017

yep, its unbelievable to watch

how the hell did pakistan get so good, destroyed england and india
Haven't they been playing well in the last 18 months? We don't hear much about them because obviously no international cricket in Pakistan and their home in the ME is soulless...but, I thought they were ascending.

I could be wrong.

Been in terrible form. Ranked 8th.

Obviously a fix :wenger:

On a serious not, despite Amir's superb spell, this has been a pathetic performance by Indian batsmen. No excuse what so ever. Also this is why I never like to chase in a big final. I know we won the 2011 final chasing but in general we have won batting first in finals. I agreed with @zing 's take that it made sense to put Pak in to put pressure on their batting. But our bowling just choked, it seemed to be driven by poor captaincy and tactics. Chasing 300+ against this Pak bowling attack was a non starter. We seemingly did not make any back up plans after the SRL game wrt to the bowling strategy.

They should just bring Amir back to finish this quickly.

ODI form has been useless. 1-4 against England, 0-2 in NZ, 1-4 in Australia. Beat Windies before this competition but they're not the greatest either & the best thing out of that series was Hassan & Shadab taking their chances.

The test team is alright. The ODI and T20 team (prior to this, obviously) has been completely useless.

Been trashing Windies home and away, drew test series in England. Not much else to write home about, especially not in ODIs. This is a team that wouldn't even have made the Champions Trophy if the cut-off date had been 5 days later.

Yeah, the batting has been pathetic, it's a flat pitch and they've just been meek. That said, you can't plan around our bowling being so poor and Pakistan batting so well. If the match happened again, the correct call would still be to bowl first imo. The captaincy was absolutely poor though, agreed. Just let the game drift away.

Every kid growing up in India knows that when you win the toss you fecking bat first.

I am 50/50 on the bat first/bowl first decision on a flat pitch in this final. If it was any other team, I would defo say bat first.

"What a performance this has been for India..." you sure about that Sourav?!

For a team that's done so well over the last 10 years, we've lost far too many times just 1 or 2 steps away from the trophy. We've been consistent but our conversion rate in the knockouts has been poor. Maybe that's just the way it happens.

Glad this is happening in a champions trophy than the WC. Lots to learn from this for Kohli.

Core of the team is very good. Maybe look to breed a few new players.

So they've basically done a Portugal

Good on them too. This group is way more likeable than past teams and perhaps Mickey Arthur will get some respect too. I've read comments by ex players like Waqar Younis criticise him a lot and even put their name in the hat to replace him, so he deserves some appreciation now.

Wow, three in a row!

Pandya has some power in his shots.

Not sure. I think Dhoni needs to go, am personally not sure Yuvi's got another 2 years in him too. Jadhav is too slogy for my linking. KL Rahul would come in and we can't seem to find a right place for Rahane in the lineup. Bowling wise, we are much more settled with lot of pace options. Pandya is the real find and could be our Klusener.

After so many defeats this will be first win for Pakistan against India in ICC tournament.
