I just bought a playstation 3

Those are the two games I'm really looking forward to aswell. At the moment I have Motorstorm, Fight Night, Resistance, Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Oblivion.

Don't really play my PS3 much at the moment. I'm gonna be glued to it once the real games start coming out though.

It's interesting this thing with the XBoxes dying on mass. What are Microsoft supposed to be good at? Then you get the Playstation online thing supposedly nowhere near as good as XBox live. What are Sony good at?

Yes, that's right, Microsoft is a software company that makes software. Sony is a consumer electronics company that makes, well....., consumer electronics. Why they both have to tread on each others toes and feck t up in the process I really don't see.

Well, I do actually, and it's this:

Microsoft saw how powerful the hardware in games consoles was becoming, and how these machines more and more could do things your desktop PC could do. This got them worried, and so they should be. Without and XBox interference, the PS2 would probably be around the 150,000,000 sales by now. If the PS3 ever sold that amount, it would mean 150,000,000 pieces of kit sat in people's living rooms running Linux, and obviously all that entails. It's a threat. Not with the PS3, but it will be in 8 years with whatever Sony might produce then. Answer, try and get Sony out of this market, because it's not just games at stake here.

Sony on the other hand need to keep Windows out of the living room, because otherwise, they will be forced to pay Microsoft of OS licences for every product they make in the future,be it TVs, Movie Disc Players, whatever. So, how to keep Microsoft and Windows out of it? Well, by offering better kit and trying to offer better software.

You would think the cnuts would simply have come to a simple arrangement. It all has the watermark embedded into it of Big Blue (IBM) and what finally happened to it. They tried to be everything in the computing world, mainframes, super-computers, chip manufacturers, software writers, PC builders. It all went pair shaped and they were forced to retreat into high level services for companies, specialist chips (Cell being an example), and great big feck off super computers. They make shit loads out of doing this, and quite rightly got rid of the crap, like making PCs. That's right, the company that invented the PC has not made one for over two years.

And an interesting thing here Mods: Is the PS3 entertainment? What if I was only using it to run Linux and Open Office? Just a thought, you can play games on a PC as well, but PC topics do not end up in the entertainment forum.

I know you have an XBox GB and that you love it immensely, but there is not need to bundle the PS3 together with a simple games machine such as that.

He he he!
you were right weaste in your previous thread when u said the 360 is shit. I'm just going to sell my games on and then buy a ps3. Pro evo and GT a-spec are going to destroy my social life. The only thing I'm going to miss on 360 is halo 3, after the amount of days I wanked over it like a ...:muppet:

what makes you think ps3 won't die on you too?

plenty of ps2 consoles have died over the years on some of my mates

Sony has fecked up itself over time, trying to stick its fingers into too many pies. Why they are still trying to make computers is beyond me, they tried it once and got their arses kicked with the MSX, yet they still are trying. It's not going to happen and they will have to pull out again - no more Viao.

A similar thing happened with mobile phones. In the end they had to set up a joint venture company with Ericsson because they simply couldn't hack it on their own.

The only thing probably saving them in the digital camera market is the lenses that they somehow got Carl Zeiss to agree to put on their cameras. Probably this division is not making any money either.

They should basically stick to what they are good at, making audio-visual equipment for the living room (a PS3 fits into this, thus the Blu-ray player as standard) and high-end studios.

Microsoft should concentrate on Windows and Office instead of washing billions down the drain trying to make consumer electronics. Maybe then, all of our computing experiences might be a little more pleasant.

It seems that the PS3 has been over engineered. The build quality is very very good.

XBoxes were getting returned in their droves in the first week they were shipped. Again, it's not surprising is it? Microsoft is not an electronics manufacturer. Same way as Sony software falling on its arse far more that Microsoft software (and that's saying something).

whats happened with the 360 is that its had a over heating problem which has cost them millions to repair and all your warranties are now 3 years instead of 1 because of this

Another problem with the 360 is that one of the LED's only joins up with another once it's heated, and isn't joined all the time. (or something like that, my memory is fuzzy)

This can be temporarily fixed with the 'towel trick' where you put a towel around the 360 completely, turn it on for 10 minutes (with the 3 red lights) turn it off for another 10. Then it works. It worked for me once, then the next time it crashed.

I'm now waiting for Microsoft to repair my Xbox, been 2 weeks so far.

That usually only happens if you have the 360 in a standing position.

It shouldn't happen at all. Apparently from what I have read, a simple 1p little plastic damper could stop it. I believe this is called value engineering, because if you are planning to sell 50 million consoles, 50 million 1ps would mount up to a quite a bit of cash.

You think that's funny, it gets worse. It is also my 2nd 360 since the other one WAS out of warranty.

I'll get that repaired too and ebay it though.

I think it's funny for the reasons I stated. It's a software company from a PC background trying to make consumer electronics. How is the Zune doing? I think Apple is crazy trying to get into mobile phones, and the iTV thing is crazy, they are trying to do things outside their natural box. Ok, they pulled it off with the iPod, but that was just a freak.
