Hypothetically speaking, who would be the better fit for United: Mbappe or Kane?

This place has gone mad. Mbappe by about 1000 miles.

Mpabbe plays off the left, where we have Rashford and Garnacho. Sancho is also better off the left than the right.

Mpabbe, while talented is also a massive bell end whose ego would become disruptive to put it mildly. ETH likes players with hardworking values and team players. Mpabbe just does not fit our criteria. He's also Madrid bound, even if he went anywhere cos PSG are desperate to offload, he's Madrid bound sooner or later.

Kane brings 25+ goals as a minimum. He's also a pure #9 - which we do not have and are absolutely desperate for.

So out of the two, between the drama of Mpabbe or the assurance of a ready made goal machine - Kane is the easy answer by some distance. It's not even a debate for me

Mbappe is a left winger and we have plenty of them so Kane obviously.

If I was playing FM I’d be getting Kane then giving PSG £60m + Sancho

Either would be phenomenal, and a bit surprised at the majority being on the side of Kane.

Mbappe for me, age is a big factor but i also think his pace gives him the edge over Kane.

Kane would probably be here longer, as well. You'd get about 4 years out of Kane. Mbappe would be kicking up a fuss next year.

Kane

/thread

Mbappe is a petulant, spoiled child who'd destabilise the club, the squad and just stop trying for half the games.

Kane is tactically a better fit. But you still have to take Mbappe. Just like nobody is ever taking Drogba over peak Messi regardless of the squad you have.

Agree 100%.
Kane would be better for us, but for the same amount money/wages, etc Mbappe is tantalising proposition.

Realistically though, Wout Weghorst is what we can actually afford.

Kane will be the better “fit” for the squad in technical offering, position and attitude - but Mbappe is a better, and generational, player.

About sums it up.

Kane.

I am not really into the idea of either. But I'd sooner take the aging player that is a guarantee for goals for the next 3 years or so that we know just gets on with the job and doesn't attract any drama or create divisiveness.

Mbappe would be a heck of a lot of hassle if he came here. There would be constant, and I mean constant speculation every single summer about whether he'd like to go to Spain, or to Saudi, or to wherever else. There would probably be week to week speculation about how he sees the club, the tactics, the manager. A fantastic player but building a great XI is never about one player, so for all he would give with his quality, I can't shake the feeling that it wouldn't be entirely worth it at the end of all that.

Mbappe is obviously the better player, and would get the highest individual total number of goals.

But Kane+Rashford would score more goals as a partnership than Mbappe+Rashford, so the answer is that Kane would be better for the team.

Mbappe. Easy choice. Will be colossal for us for many years to come.

Kane is one of them players who not only scores you goals, but will score you goals in important games like Liverpool away, Arsenal away. A player who no doubt will be the difference on some of last seasons losses into draws and draws into wins.

Personally, I prefer Mbappes play style more and I think given some time he would absolutely bully some defences with his sheer raw pace off the shoulder of the defender. That said, Kane knows the league, big game player and a leader in his own right. Fine margins.

I think it's Kane. I believe he is more plug-and-play and opens up so much for the wings and Bruno playing just behind him. I could see him and Rashford both scoring in the high 20's and Bruno possibly not far behind.

I mean I'd take either but it'd obviously be Mbappe if it was one of the two. This forum is mad

One of them has won their country the world cup and dragged them to the final of another, has most of their career ahead of them and arguably the greatest player of their generation.

The other scores lots of goals for Tottenham as long as it means almost no one else ever scores for Tottenham.

One of the things people don't factor in with Kane is he'd probably get close to 30 goals a season, but it would also probably be in exchange for players like Rashford and Fernandes getting about 3.

2-3 year approach: Kane
4+ years approach: Mbappe

Kylian is extraordinary, but you have to take into account that he'll probably need at least half a season to get used to the league/team/coach etc. plus the drama of his last year of contract. If there's 2 to 3 years of fantastic performances between them, then it's worth it.

Mbappe is best player in the world and will be in years to come. So Mbappe.

And come on, this thread is mad. Kane is a great player and shit but Mbappe is another level.

If EtH is serious about us being the best transition team in the league/world, it's surely Mbappe.

Kane is the exact type of striker that would excel in our system.

In terms of what we need and what he provides there isn't a bigger slam-dunk in the transfer market in all of football. We'd be absolutely mental not to sign him if we were given a real opportunity to.

For what we actually need, Kane.

We also wouldn't have Madrid knocking on our door in a season or two.

The amount of people that are saying we cant have him and Rashford in the same team because they are both bad pressers - What has Rashford done to allow his this curtesy on not pressing? He needs to improve there.

If you have a hypothetical choice between Mbappe & [Player X] this answer is Mbappe. Mbappe & Kane

Both in the final year of their contracts with owners preferring to sell rather than letting them run their contracts down.

Both will cost £100 million + and obscene wages.

Who would be the better fit for us? 3-4 years ago I’d have said Mbappe due to my inner muppet. Now it has to be Kane.

Mbappe. He's the better player, far more dynamic, and alongside Rashford makes us the most dangerous countering team in the world instantly.

He wouldn't need half a season, he's the best player in the world for feck sake. This isn't buying some young budding star from a foreign league.

Kane for sure. I think we have to take in non-footballing considerations when we judge players suitability. Mbappe is a better player but can potentially be super disruptive to the team whether he wants it or not. We can really do without the media fanfare or breaking the bank for one player.

Mbappe.

Feel he's incredibly under-rated on this forum. He scored a hattrick for France in the world cup final ffs.
See I think he's actually regressed in many ways compared to how he was a few years ago. To me his strength was always his maturity. While there are players who are as quick as he is, his maturity really made him stand out. Nowadays whenever I see him he seems to think he's like Neymar and can dribble past players when in my eyes his dribbling was never that great. He just always seemed to make the correct decision. I do think that at a proper club under a proper manager that gets sorted out though.
