Do any of you cnuts hunt?

I went on a hunt the other day and it seems like a great hobby. Great nature experience and I saw this guy shoot a deer and a wild boar. Also saw two moose walk by only a few metres from where we where standing, but the season is over so you can't shoot them over here anymore.
I know there's some controversy with the fox hunts in the UK etc but personally I fail to see anything immoral about it as long as you follow the rules. At the end of the day animals who live in the wild have a much better and "humane" life than the ones who live in the modern meat factories.

I went hunting today with my mum. I didn't ride, I can't, but followed in a Defender taking pictures. I am just sorting out some pictures of it now, so will hoick them up when they are done.

As an experience, superb. Morally, I whole heartedly agree with it as the most humane method of killing foxes.

Looking forward to seeing those pictures. And the Defender is a great car :)

Half way through sixty of them.

It was my first time actually out with them, although I had been to meets before. I was amazed, there were 150 people there, and about 40 of them were children. Everyone was very friendly, lots of free food and port at the meet, and it came across very family orientated.

I was a new face, so at first, people were a bit hesitant, and when I got in the car with a random woman who was following (her 8 year old daughter was out riding) the first question was why I was photographing. The tension between the hunters and the anti brigade is massive. It's a shame I wasn't going next week, as they are hunting in anti territory.

Anyway, a touch of new today, the mon convicted for illegal hunting on Exmoor (or Dartmoor, I can't remember) has had his ban overturned.

I went for the first time the other day and I can't wait to get my licence now. I'm not accustomed with how you hunt foxes but when you say ride do you mean horse riding? The hunt I went to was organised in the way that 5-6 hunters where stationed in different places in the forest and then 3 different guys with dogs went around to provoke the boars/deer to move in the hunters direction. Was a bit slow at first(not to mention -6 degrees Celsius) but you get a great adrenaline kick when a couple of boars come rushing in your direction.

Over here(Sweden) the big debate is not about foxes, but wolves. There have been a lot of cases where dogs and cattle have been killed by wolves but a hunter can't touch them as they used to have a very low "population"(they were practically exctinct 20 years ago), but that's changed. One hunter killed a wolf which attacked his dog and went to prison! But now the stock is growing and a lot of people want to be able to kill some of them off. But you have the 'animal friends'(who always seem to live in urban areas) who won't listen to reason. Hunters seems to be one of the most hated groups in modern society.

Then you have the brown bears. A guy and his dog was killed by a bear a month ago. But you can shoot some bears during a period though. That would probably make me shit myself tbh seeing a bear in the forrest. If you don't kill it on your first shot they get very aggressive and come at you and they will run faster and climb better than you. There are practically never any in my area though.

Yes, I mean on horse. The way the Warwickshire hunt worked today was the group split into three. The leaders with the hounds, the field who follow and are along for the ride, and the juniors and helpers, who are getting used to it and enjoying it.

Legally, you cannot kill a fox with a dog, but there is no law against a falcon being trained, so there is always a falconer on a Quad Bike. The hounds sniff them out and the falcon swoops.

You find the urbanites who are against it don't know the full story about hunting. They don't see foxes as a pest because they look cute and fluffy. The fact is, when you own animals for a living, they are cnuts. We had our entire chicken stock wiped out when I was little. That was a fortune in lost income, and on stock replenishment. Hounds are the quickest way of killing a fox, one bite to the neck and they are gone. If you shoot a fox, you are more than likely to seriously wound it and it will die slowly.

While for many of those who go on the hunt, it is a fun day out, for farmers, it is vital. It is also interesting to note that if a person expresses he doesn't want the hunt on his land, they will strictly adhere to it.

Do you live in a cave too or has that bit of you evolved? Its illegal for a reason and dont bother putting up any pics its disgusting.

Actually, the hunt today fell foul of now laws. Please do continue to bang you knee on the table.

If its so great why not let them scent you up next time then leg it through the countryside to give the dogs their exercise?its harmless etc,no?thought not!!

its banned why do it?sad and pathetic

Using dogs to kill foxes is banned. It isn't illegal to use them to flush foxes out. It isn't illegal to flush them out and shoot them. It isn't illegal to drag hunt (dragging a dead fox for the hounds to chase).

Pray tell me, what is your objection to hunting with dogs?

I'm not a pest love (well maybe a sex pest, but I have to sign a register for that).

You're full of prejudice. One might argue that's sad and pathetic. ;)

Nice pics Saints.

My grandparents lived in the Country, properly way out.He worked the land back in the days when ploughing filelds meant using shire horses etc so dont start with the towny crap.
As a little kid we witnessed the local hunt in action-ripping through the village, the dogs tearing up the gardens, watching a neighbours cat caught by the hounds etc. That is not a sport and not all country folk support it either. Both are dead now but my grandparents throught it was barbaric too.

me,you were asked not to post them as they would cause offence to some and you went ahead.Im a moderator so removed them.If you want to share them with like minded posters please use p/m or email.

I showed nothing illegal and nothing that would offend anyone. You deleted them because they didn't fit in with you agenda.

So it is ok to shoot a fox, paralyse it and let it starve to death? Or to shoot it and let it bleed to death. Or gas a hole and let them asphyxiate, or get out and the gasses slowly affect their muscles and they die slowly over a period of weeks?

Or is it ok to let their numbers spiral and put a risk to local livelihoods and the already dying rural economy?

Any basis to that opinion or just what the city dwelling mass media tell you to believe?

I think it's not a hobby to kill animals for fun, for fecks sake. And concerning the problem that famers have with foxes: There are other ways to keep foxes away from your feckin chickens or whatever. I'm so glad that you English people arent allowed anymore to hunt foxes.
For fecks sake how can that be a hobby? I just dont get it...

Yes, we are allowed to hunt foxes. Just not using dogs to kill them. ;)

And it isn't a hobby, it is a service to the community.

yep,let em breed-local livelihoods being huntsmen?dog handlers?yep let them find alternative work.
As Ive already said, not all country folk want and support the hunt-where does their opinion come into it?

Why cant they scent you up and you'll give then something to chase?give the dogs their exercise and the nobs their chance to say "tally-ho".You dont fancy running like feck until you collapse and are set upon by baying dogs in the name of sport?Ahh but its ok as foxes eat chickens?Do you eat chicken?

well but thats a good step forward. Oh come on what service is it for the community? That is so senseless, i cant believe it. For some farmers who think they cant get rid of the problem with other ways probably.
Foxes a pretty rare already, and you keep on killing them, great, really.

No, but 57% of the population want the ban overturned...

Because I am not a pest, I don't eat their income, I create it.

Saying it is about running round going "tally-ho" is precisely the type of prejudice that led to the bans introduction.

More people voted to ban it than keep it.Do you get off on speeding too?

Correction, more MP's. Of course, they are the same MP's that are whipped into party line to pass bills, rather than letting it be guided by their constituents.

Those foxes aren't even given a fecking chance dude! They are chased to the point of exhaustion and then usually ripped to pieces by a pack of dogs!

That is fecking barbaric! I'm English and am glad it's been banned.

For fecks sake, foxes also need something to eat, so is it your right to kill them because of this? Look more carefully after your chickens, that would be a solution.
