How much would you buy Ronaldo for?

More Ronaldo rumours.

Yawn.

Will not happen, not worth anybody's time talking about it or debating it.

It still doesn't make it a good dream. Both clubs being banned and the trophy going to Roma would be a lovely dream.
ANYTHING that involves Liverpool losing in Kiev is a good dream.
If we bought Ronaldo for £142 M, we would rightfully be the laughing stock of football.

Sell Ronaldo in his prime and then buy him back a decade later when he's close to retirement for double the price.
What we sold him for does not matter one iota. It's what he's worth now that matters. Do you think Roma would like to sign Salah back for 100m if they can afford it?

He's worth a lot because of his ability and profile, obviously, but he's 12 years older than SMS and 8 years older than Pogba. When you pay for a player you pay a premium for potential as that's exactly what you want "the potential for them to be great players for you". Ronaldo's potential is logically capped to a limited number of great seasons now whereas Pogba and SMS have years and years to contribute to a club.
That's very true, but a few seasons of 40+ goals in the Premier League, probably a title or 2 is well worth the fee.

Transfer window opens and we are linked to Ronaldo... every time.

If we can get him - obviously. We won't though and this won't happen.

142M is a joke price for a 33 year old footballer and we would be clowns to pay it.

It was too late to bring him back 3 years ago. Is he a better player than what we have currently? Of course but there's too many downsides to signing him.

1) Age - Yes he's defied it "okay" but he's clearly lost some speed and father time is undefeated
2) Media circus - Leaks and constant contract discussions. Imagine the drama from him/the media if he were to struggle here
3) Chemistry - Our squad isn't exactly stellar performers week in and out but most of them seem to be friendly with one another. I feel Ronaldo would clash with the egos we have here currently
4) Position - He basically plays as a striker now, signing him would completely waste signing Lukaku's strenghts

It's clear he's on the decline (although he's still the second best in the world currently). Not interested personally

That ship sailed a long time ago, there is no value in a signing like that. No resale, no longevity to the deal. It would be the most short sighted signing of all time. It would make no sense to our current team or even financially. It wouldn't be a transfer window without Ronaldo being mentioned.

Can he play RW?

Mourinho will say at his presentation: Ronaldo can play LW, No10, Striker, or RW. And then, he will play Ronaldo ONLY in LW, move Sanchez to take over Pogba’s midfield position, and we will bench both Pogba and Martial.

€100m. Don't care what anybody says. The man is gonna be a beast for the next 3 years as usual. Utd spent a 100m on Pogba and didn't get much of him. Ronaldo will win us the league and possibly a CL in those 3 years. THAT has no price

If it happened... I'd have us set up like this;

----Ronaldo---Lukaku----
Pogba-------------------Alexis
-------Matic---New CM
LB---CB-------CB-------Valencia
------------DDG

Madrid would have pulled off the best business in the history of football

Pogba is still young with plenty of time left to prove himself. Ronaldo is 33, likely has another year or two in him at the top but even that's doubtful. Age is cruel, one bad injury and he's finished. I'd buy him but any more than 20-30 million would be ridiculous!

Would I love Ronaldo playing for us ? Yes, would he improve us ? Again yes but do I want us to spend £100+ million on a player that is 33 and isn’t in anyway at all the same player as the flying all action machine he was when he was here before ? No.

Bale, Asenio, Benzema and Isco ALL have to play around Ronaldo and do everything so he gets the chances he does even though it stunts their own natural game and all of them bar Benzema are more creative than anyone we have so Ronaldo wouldn’t get the chances for us that he gets for Real.

Real have Modric and Kroos pulling the strings whilst the others I said put your chances on a plate for Ronaldo but when do you see Ronaldo creating goals out of nothing anymore or even anything outside of the penalty area ? As a goal scorer I’d say Ronaldo is most likely the greatest of all time but look at the players around him getting the chances for him and you see we don’t have those players, we need to get over the whole ‘bring Ronaldo back whatever the cost’ thing as at £100+ million plus £500-£600K a week wages for a season or two of which he’d never replicate what he does at Real is madness.

This. However, I can still see Ronaldo scoring around the 40 goal mark per season for us, both Lukaku and Zlatan were close to 30 and would have probably hit it if it wasn't for their injuries late in the season. If we were to sign some more creative players to feed Ronaldo (a RW and 1-2 midfielders) then he would score even more. The £100+ million plus £500 - £600k wages investment in him would only be worth it if he was able to be a key figure in us winning Premier League and Champion League titles in the 2 -3 years he would likely give us at best. Otherwise, it is not worth it as we have shown we can finish 2nd in the league and win domestic cups with a just above average/good side.

£50m - surely only got 2, 3 at a push years left as a top player, plus he won’t score as many in the EPL.

Why do you assume that Benzema lacks creativity?

If anything, the playmaking aspect is actually one of his strongest assets into his game (doesn't get credit for that) & creates so many goals for RM.

Top 20 LaLiga players with the biggest participation in creating goals by assists + pre-assists per 90 (from April).

Benzema is on 2nd place for that stat, just slightly behind Lionel Messi.

Pretty safe to say that Benzema is definitely more creative than any other Man United player by a country mile.

This probably explains my thoughts in a better way than I do.

Will become evident on Saturday that Ronaldo is finished. Salah will steal the show and put him and RM to shame.

I'd happily sell him for anything over 100 million pounds. We have to move on. He is on the decline and we need to fund future players.

I'd pay all the money for Ronaldo

That's very true, but a few seasons of 40+ goals in the Premier League, probably a title or 2 is well worth the fee.

He's not scoring 40+ goals in the PL, he doesn't even score that in La Liga anymore.

Ronaldo would be a good signing for a team like City, PSG or Bayern that has enough quality for him to shine in front of the goal, he could give them the edge they need to start appearing in UCL finals and winning them and you can't put a price tag on that. But if you take current Ronaldo and put him in the area with current United you would basically burn 140M + wages on a player you can't "feed" on the pitch.

Dunno, feels like Everton getting Pulis as a coach and splashing 150M on Messi, seems logical, but you would be overpaying for a piece your team really doesn't need.

I'm talking about 40 goals in all comps, not just the league, and the last time he failed to score 40 in a season was 8 years ago.

Personally I think it's a combination of Ronaldo getting to the right place at the right time as much as the supply he gets at Real that allows him to score so many.

Let's not forget Jose has managed Ronaldo before and they scored over 100 in La Liga.

He would be a pointless signing for us right now - we can't play football, and he wouldn't really change that. At this point in his career, PSG, Bayern and City (basically teams that can play and just want someone to stick it in the net) could benefit from him, but us? We don't create, and he wouldn't change that.

So.. Free transfer on a one year rolling contract.

I thought you meant 40 PL goals.

Jose coached "another" Ronaldo, and with Real Madrid, not this United side. Ronaldo could be in all the right places he possibly could be and still, if no one gets to put a good cross, pass, or United don't have a decoy guy like Benzema, it's not going to be the same.

Anyway, I don't think it'll happen, Real cannot sell Ronaldo. So no point arguing over hypotheticals

Not even interested on free transfer.

We need to be about the future and building a great team, it'd be horrid to see a sulking, failing here and tarnish the memories.

I don't fecking care how old he is, that he fecked us off for Madrid, that he'd cost an insane amount of money, or owt else.

If we ever got the chance to buy him, buy him. I'll carry Pogba to Madrid if needs be, cause I can't be arsed with him.
