Just curious how much realistically people think we are going to spend?

i see some questioning loans and still after big names so curious

Loans only or perhaps a 17 year old goalkeeper from Slovakia type deal.
Nothing major. We just don't have the funds at the moment.

It'll likely be restricted to loans but could see us spending £5-10m if we have to pay a loan fee for Joao Felix or decide to proceed with a permanent transfer for someone like Thuram. We're operating in the bargain basement right now and Ten Hag has confirmed as much.

Loan of a striker.

The RB decision will come down to if we can get enough money for Wan-Bissaka that we don't think we'd get more in the summer, and Frimpong or another RB the media doesn't know about being gettable at only 3-4M extra for a January premium.

Maybe a youth player Ten Hag wanted Ajax to buy, but probably not.

If the Glazers are truly selling I don’t see why they would green light many if any purchases. It’s not like any signings will guarantee qualification for the champions league. Qualification of course probably helps with the selling process.
Loans most likely but then the fees for Felix for half a season is insane when you could probably buy Thurman for less and then sell him for a decent fee down the line.

If we somehow beat City and Arsenal this month it might FFP allowing inspire some sort of spending.

We clearly have zero intention of any permanent deals hence no interest in Thuram

No one knows. Saying loan or 50 million is the same thing - a guess. How the fk does anyone know what the financial situation is apart from the top executives and Im pretty sure they havnt rang the United Stand and told them that we are broke and can only afford loans

Imagine thinking that the Glazers would spend money when they want to sell the club in a few months. They don't give a feck about our future, all they care about is monies.

Yeah it's why we won't buy Thuram now

I voted loans only but I suppose the Glazers might decide to invest to improve our chances of top 4 for when they sell.

I wouldn’t know how much affect it would have on value if we’re guaranteed to be in the CL at the point of sale but presumably somebody at the club has done that “calculation”. New signings don’t guarantee points but it’s possible the Glazers will be attracted by the odds and return.

Loans only most likely, I guess.

Loans only, spending money on something you will sell in a few weeks makes no sense.

Yes but would we pay a loan fee of say 10mil for felix for 6months? Or buy Thurman for about the same?

if we do anything it’ll be loan deals but you don’t tend to get quality that can step in to the squad and make an impact. ETH has I’m sure said it has to be the right players and no point of just bringing bodies in. Loans still cost money as well which is why I’m sort of leaning in to the we will do nothing camp.

Just seems to me that the only real quality possibly available is Felix but why would anyone pay those sorts of loan fees for him when you can buy a player like Thurman for less or the same.

If the right player becomes attainable I could see us spending +50m.

I really can’t. This time of year drives prices up and we don’t have the money

I'm more thinking in terms of a de Jong. Which is super unlikely. @croadyman definitely not a Gakpo.

That being said, I think we'll end up signing Felix for a bit of money with no option to buy.

Gotta hope he flops now but the real meltdown will come when he plays against us and (if) gets a goal or assist.

That will be lemmings FC unless we can somehow beat Arsenal to Felix and he has a Juanfield like performance

We can spend if we won't. But deals are always robbing Peter to pay Paul, moving money from the summer. People say Bruno - but we chased him the prior summer. There isn't really an equivalent.

Also - just my opinion - if the glazers thought 50m spend would give us a much better chance of CL they would spend it. CL qualification this year optically looks great and adds serious money to our value.

If Ten Hag sees a feasible player at a reasonable price who can improve the team, I think the club could spend the money.

He's exactly what we need. Cover in all three front positions. Young and not too expensive. It's pretty clear ETH wanted him.

Yeah, I'm not too sure about how much cover in "all three positions" he provides, and how much of a left-sided forward he is. He'd have been a hefty outlay with a long contract in any case.

I have no clue. But I'm hoping there aren't any other serious options he'd be willing to accept so Atletico get a bit more down to earth.

Loans only. Butland, striker and possibly Felix. Won't do anything about RB as AWB is going to stay until summer at least and midfield will remain the same. I think it's obvious Glazers will only do loans as they plan to sell the club soon.

Pay 50m to receive 26m back?
