How good are Led Zeppelin?

The are obvioulsy pretty damn good but for some reason they never really did it for me. I liked them rather than loved them. Can't really say why.

Agreed. They were brilliant at what they did (and basically all heavy metal is just footnotes to their oeuvre). But I never liked them that much.

Great band. My only argument against them is that Jimmy Page, while a brilliant composer and guitarist, is a pretty sloppy player IMO.

That statement would be correct until the late 80s but most good metal nowadays take influences from a myriad of different sources.

LOVE Led Zep - "When the levee Breaks" ,"Dazed and confused" and "Since I've been loving you" are amongst my personal faves.

The Rain Song is beautiful, and Since I've been Loving You is superb on so many levels.
