How did this team lose 4-0 against Brentford?

Ronaldo, Maguire, De Gea. Team were having hangover from last season disaster. Brentford is a good team.
United was unlucky that club faced Brighton & Brentford in the first two games but I think these losses were necessary wakeup call for ETH and United.

I know we’ve added some quality since then, but really, how did things get that bad?
