How could you possibly be content with this?

It is like the Trump fans who see him do no wrong. He can do no wrong and whatever he does is acceptable to them. The same with the Ole fans. `he can do no wrong. `if we win, it his his genius plan. If we lose then it is the players. In reality it is the players brilliance that gets us out and it is their mistakes that causes the problems too.
If we are coached properly we do not have to do any of these things as it would be part of a team that can defend as a team and attack as a team.

A very poor generalisation of many United supporters.
Has Ole make good tactical decisions, yes he has, has Ole make poor tactical decisions, yes he has, do I think he is a wonderful manager who can do no wrong, absolutely not. Every manager in every club in the world makes mistakes, every manager in the world can make brilliant decisions. SAF made lost of mistakes in his career, but he also made many many good ones.
The goals we conceded last night displayed to me that our defenders are possibly not coached well, AWB in particular, so I'm not sure who works with the defence on their set up for a match, it's certainly an area where we need to be more switched on, so bringing in a specialist defence coach would be very beneficial I feel.
I'm annoyed that you liken fans who don't want to get rid of Ole now to 'Trump fans', who are blinkered, bigoted, possibly racially motivated people, who listen to the repeated lies, and don't want to see the truth, so please don't tarnish the Ole fans with the same brush.

Reading the first page was painful, what a bunch of cnuts. Too many people have their head in the sand. "We won who cares", "the result is all that matters!".

Did you fall in love with football because of results or the football actually being played on the pitch?

If results are all that matters why do we even watch?

I swear the standards have dropped for so many of our fans.

What a joke.

Ok mate, you keep running around with your arms in there talking nonsense and not reading actual posts

Hey man. Did you enjoy the loss to Palace? Did you enjoy being battered again Brighton as they hit the post 5 times? What about the 6-1 loss to Spurs? Fun? How about the tame draw to Chelsea or loss at home to the worst Arsenal team in a million years? Whats your opinion on the defending against a shit Istanbul side?

Thats just a selection of some of our awful performances. You and some of the other Ole inners are liars. You're lying to yourself just to defend a man who doesn't give a shit about you. At the end of the day, Ole goes to sleep a million pounds richer.

I was content until last night.

Not getting 1 point to qualify from the last 2 CL games is utterly shambolic.

Ole needs to be BETTER.

Little bit surprised this is empty given all the shit some posters were quick to give me a few days ago. Must be content with yet another dreadful performance where our opposition actually battered us AND didn't choke like West Ham or Brighton did. I worry for this team when our luck completely runs out. Sad to see us fall so low. But hey, I should go support someone else.

They must be celebrating the win against fecking Southampton and arguing in other threads about our "progress". I support you on this one, it's quite ridiculous that some actually attacked you for this thread.

We have a fanbase that is obsessed with sentiment. Particularly with ex players & academy players.

It’s clear we’re going nowhere under Ole, just like it’s clear that lads like McTominay & Williams aren’t good enough. Some just can’t look past their sentiment though.

Are comeback wins nice? Yes of course. But long term progression is more important than short term euphoria. There’s no way you can watch the majority of our comebacks this season & come to the conclusion that we are on the right track. We are relying solely on individual brilliance from our very good players. That is not sustainable

Exactly. They cannot see past 1999. I just hope that the crop of kids coming through are better than recent ones, heard that one before? I wish we had a Reece James, Mason Mount, even young Billy Gilmour. They look great until Ole and his coaches get their hands on them.

Laugh it up, you seem to forget how dire and how down everyone felt under moyes, lvg or mourhino time here?
Atleast now we attack teams and have got a team that is actually likeable. Finished third in the league and had good cup runs, all while dealing with injuries to main players.

But he hasn’t won the league or champions league in two years though so let’s all laugh at people who prefer Ole here to the 3 previous managers.

undoubtedly he can be improved on but there’s no garunteed improvement out there, just made up fantasy talk

We don't attack teams, we have scored just 66 goals in the entire league campaign last year, what the feck are you on about?

We are dire in some games just like we were under Mourinho, we probably had even some worse games under Ole. Mourinho finished second m with this team and won Europa League, how is that not better than anything Ole has produced so far? And I think Mou has unerachieved here also and deserved a sack.

Ok

Personally I think Leipzig put themselves in a pickle when they started panicking after the 1 3. They should have played their normal game we were nowhere near for a large chunck of the game. Management should be accountable for yesterdays tactics somewhat but so should the players for letting this group slip against Istanbul (4 to 6 points there) after a brilliant start to the group.

The problem arises from the fact that Ole is meant to be building something for the future yet we get worse with everygame and fans should be happy with awful performances as long as we win.

We've seen 0 progression from the Mourinho days. We play the exact style of football, with almost the exact in game performances and results to his 2nd season.

Christ on a bike. Find a new sport or go and support Liverpool
so you're suggesting this fella go support a team who will win major silverware for the foreseeable future, while their main rivals continue to wallow in mediocrity, and a huge part of their fanbase are delusional about the quality of their squad and the ability of their fans favourite former player ? That's sound advice.

Ok ok, the recent comebacks had gotten us a bit gassed but truth be told, as Neville said, we are relying on moments in games from 4-5 individuals, who can inconsistently get us over the line as we play bad for large parts of most games.

What is alarming for me as our performance (post Fergie) in Europe. It really hammers home how much our stock has fallen and where we are right now as a team. CL quarter final is seen as a great run for us, or our limit. Other big European clubs must think we are trash. Our Euro performance reads;
2014 CL quarters
2015 - did not qualify
2016 Europa last 16 (knocked out of CL groups)
2017 Europa winners
2018 CL Round of 16
2019 CL quarters
2020 Europa Semis
2021 CL groups

Big European clubs must surely not take us seriously anymore and it is hard to take but so long as we keep qualifying for the CL that is seen as achieving something.....

I agree with this. I would imagine to most big clubs around Europe we somewhere around the same equivalence of AC Milan or Inter, a fantastic European powerhouse in the past that in truth has done nowt in Europe for over 6 years.

I can't, I am a die hard fan for close to 40 years. I am calling Ole out for more than 1 year. He has not implemented anything on the pitch. We need a creative midfielder and he buys Bruno. We needs strong defenders and he overpay for Maguire and AWB because they are English. We wants Sancho which would break club record transfer fee. The team that he took over, who has improved??? Why this team cannot defend a set piece?? Why are we conceding silly goals? Why are we always losing the first goals? Why do we set up so defensive against weaker team? Why didn't he buys a DM instead of VDB? He has not done anything for me to back even he finished 3rd. I consider it as a fluke season where Leicester amazing collapse in a pandemic season. Yes, we are top 6 now but I don't forsee him finishing top 4. Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and City is likely finishing above us. I cannot see us controlling a game from start to finish like these 4 teams. Ole is not the man. Good managers can implement system without buying looks at Southampton, Leicester, Wolves. They lose their best players but they can put up a products that compete but Ole can only buy his way to the Top.

He’s improved us more than them.
That's a different reason entirely.

Anyway I just don't see how we can be content with not having unequivocally one of the absolute best managers around. We can't look at Klopp and Pep and honestly think we're fine with Ole. We had the best manager ever in SAF and now we're happy with someone who has done fine, I guess. Improved the culture somewhat, is a bit more progressive than Jose. Neville keeps on harping on about how we should have the 'best in class' director of football. The same should be said for the manager too. We weren't successful under Fergie because we are Manchester United, we were successful because of him. Why are we now expecting that a manager who could potentially be pretty good will make us the best?

You have nailed it with this post

I just wish more people saw it. Individual brilliance can shine even with piss poor management. Didier Drogba & Petr Cech’s brilliance won Di Matteo’s Chelsea a Champions League, and he was gone 6 months later because he simply wasn’t good enough. That’s a Champions League final too! We have fans gassing up Ole for coming back in league games against midtable teams after playing diabolical for an hour. The bar is on the floor. Bruno & Rashford can only save him for so long.

Some people just adopt that back your manager BS no matter how badly we are starting games and can't criticise someone because of what he has done as a player

It’s the same point.

Jose took over a team who just won the FA Cup, level on points with City and signed the worlds most expensive player.

Ole took over a side with a massive wage bill, overpaid, passed their best and full of shite the fans hated.

feck me - how you can look at this forum and say “we are too sentimental” as a fanbase is beyond me. We’re full of bellends who don’t know what supporting a club is. We went out last night 3-2. We almost went through. Does it hurt? Yes. Do I cry and throw my toys out of the pram? No.

He’s improved us more than them =/= we are winning more. Jose had a better win percentage and win trophies ergo he won more.

I literally nowhere said we are too sentimental.

I wasn’t talking to you about that last bit.

Jose took us backwards. Ole has taken us forwards.

Why the feck bring in Trump voters to the discussion? Keep politics away from the football threads please, ffs.

He has made positive steps but shouldn't be allowed to continue when there are better managers out there

Take a break from football mate, maybe stay away from forums too. It's not doing you any favours.

This is the exact issue that I am highlighting. I have been a United fan since 1967. I have seen us in the old 2nd division at places like Oxford United. I am a fan of Manchester United and not any particular manager. I want the best for Manchester United and not what is best for Alex Ferguson or Ole Gunnar.
