Why are guendozey and torreira in the frame to leave? Aren't they basically your best midfielders?

I was talking to my Arsenal supporting cousin towards the end of last season and i told him that Arsenal as a club were doomed. my thoughts were they didn't have the spending power and being so far down in the table with some ageing players would be an irredeemable position. Everything pointed to this with the redundancies etc.

I must admit, now after the cup final, with keeping Auba, investing in the squad and Arteta seeming to know what he's doing i have to admit i was wrong. Still some way off challenging but they've turned a corner. Add Aouar or Partey and they're looking good for a real top 4 challenge.

EPL will dominate for the foreseeable future. Even Everton are pulling global players now!
Dominating in terms of what?

If we look at attractiveness (aka paying the most money) and being the most competitive domestic league, the Premier League has been that for at least the least two decades.

If we look at European success, I doubt the Premier League teams will suddenly start to "dominate" it. The Premier League has actually been second or even third in the UEFA ranking for more than a decade now, all that while having way more money than the rest all along.

Real/Bayern/Barca will continue to be the teams to beat internationally, with others like PSG or Juve also fielding very strong teams.

Xhaka and Ceballos are clearly our best Players.

I still really like Torreira, his first season was quite Good. Then Emery used him as 10 and a longer injury havent helped him. Arteta is not really using a Clear Nr. 6, so it makes more sense to loan or sell him.

Guendouzi is really talented, but raw. And Sounds like his mentality is a Bit difficult, that's Why he wasnt even in the team Training anymore for last season. Not even in the squad in the Carabao Cup. I would loan him out for one season, so he could increase his value again.

No that would be Xhaka...

Torreira started well but has never found that form again, also I don't think he suits Arteta's system and he's never really settled in to living here. Guendouzi while he does have plenty about him needs to polish up a lot of his game. Especially defensively and his awareness around him. He also had a big falling out with Arteta and doesn't look like the club want to keep him around.

Why does he have so many vowels in his last name? Can't he just be called Houssem Ar?

Just saw Ornstein said Arsenal agreed a fee with Lyon. Great signing but not entirely sure how they'll use him. He's definitely an attacking mid type, and if they go 433 they're fine with him in there. Maybe a midfield 3 of Aouar, Xhaka and Ceballos, but thats very soft IMO (and the back 4 would be exposed). Artetas generally been using a 3-4-3 which doesn't have space for a #10 type and he's certainly not a midfield 2 type guy either.

He’s not a 10 and he is definitely not soft.

He handles himself excellently presses and harries opponents well and I think they will play a midfield 3 however even in a 2 he’s played that role alongside Ndombele previously and was excellent.

I really wish I could critique this signing but he’s a perfect modern midfielder and I have full confidence that Arteta will mould him into one of the best in the league.

Laca - £25m, Bellerin - £35m, Torreira - £25m, Guendouzi - £20m. I reckon ballpark those are around kind of figures I think we'd sell at. I agree it isn't a sellers market and we probably will have to consider less. On the other hand if sell for cheap we could potentially buy on the cheap and buy while other clubs are not active.

Absolutely no chance Arsenal will raise that much from sales this summer, surely?

This late in the window no chance, I did post that about 3/4 weeks ago though! Out of those players I listed looks like Torreira will go. Guendouzi I still think a late bid will come in for, the other two I can't see leaving.

They won't.

There will be a lot of fire sales towards the end of this window.

Arsenal will get Aouar for €50m, a lot less than the 70m asked earlier in the window. They will be selling Torreira and Guendo for €10-15m to finance it.

Aouar for 50 million is good value. He's one of those players where whenever I watch him personally he ghosts in games. However Ndombele looked fantastic many times for Lyon and has been abysmal for Spurs given the circumstances. I like the attributes of Aouar seems a press resistant technical midfielder.

Arteta could eclipse Lampard / Ole especially with expectations and he already has by terms of achieving silverware. Arsenal will be a top contender if they can maintain consistency.

You should still be happy even if you only add Aouar, brilliant talent. I'm actually surprised you are the only club after his signature, Covid factor? And if Partey also goes to North London Arsenal would have to be solid favourites for top 4, maybe even more.

I’d sell Pogba and one of Fred/McTominay for Aouar and Partey any day.

As talented as Pogba is, he hasn’t perform to his talent on a consistent basis. He hasn’t upped his game when it counted the most.

This along with Partey reportedly preferring to stay and potentially sign an extension rather than go there gave me a good laugh earlier

Always thought they were the club that could use him the most this window, would be a great move for both sides

We do. With Cuisance on the verge of leaving, I could see us swooping in this week.
If it keeps you strong enough to win another CL and keep Liverpool away from number 7 then by all means.

Would be a brilliant replacement for Thiago. He has potential to be as good as Thiago in the long run.

He's got a point

If the same club was willing to pay Lille's valuation for Pepe last summer, Lyon are well within their right to stick with their own valuation instead of gladly accepting lowball offers from said club

Poor example. Pepe should have cost around 20m lesser.

That may be so but how is it a poor example when you guys still spent 70m+ pounds on him and Auoar is better player

Makes no sense haggling down an already fair valuation (50m) for their best player who's already reportedly reluctant to join

Who decides if the valuation is fair. He could turn out to be worse than Pepe. We've already given the greedy feck 50m for Lacazette. It's time he returns the favour.

By mentioning Pepe he is actually making a case that Arsenal massively over paid for a player. The general consensus now is that Pepe wasn't worth that fee. So is he asking Arsenal to make the same mistake?

Also Aouar isn't an international player yet.

Aulas had a shocker here. Not like him at all as he is usually very clever in what he says to the media.

He's just pointing out that you guys shouldn't expect any discount when you've already gladly paid up full price for other targets recently. Not sure how that's shocking or outrageous on his part at all.

United have found themselves in the same boat when it comes to negotiations after paying up above the odds so much that clubs will now always quote us at exorbitant amounts and I don't blame those clubs for it.

The selling club does obviously given they have the player under contract and can choose or refuse to sell

I don't get calling them greedy or getting upset over them trying to maximize the amount of money they receive for their best player.

The difference now is Arsenal has no money. so Arsenal just can't spend the money they don't have. I don't expect any signing this week for arsenal at all unless we can move on existing players. So no deal.

He'll probably be another midfielder that we'll see breakthrough in other top club and then wonder why we didn't even tried a move when we had the chance, while we complain about Fred and McTominay.

We still have Sokratis, Mustafi, Kolasinac, Ozil, Torreira, Guendouzi on the book that Arteta probably no longer favor. Unless we can move them on I don't think arsenal has resource for more players without CL football and match day income this season. Just like other clubs we need to sell before we can buy.

Good. Rather them than Arsenal.
Neymar is basically taking on the play making role in PSG, right? where will Aouar fit? If Leonardo want him, PSG will probably buy him a month ago. Money is never an issue for PSG anyway.

Could be worthwhile looking at next summer if Pogba leaves? Definitely need another body in the middle alongside a new CDM.

If Pogba goes we'll be needing 2 bodies. Matic can't be our only defensive option. Aouar would need a good partner in midfield, lovely player with lots of potential.

We're good at signing those.
