She was in the king's chambers what, the same night his wife died? I could make a list of all the shit she's pulled from episode 1, she's not a good person at all.
I am neither green nor black. As said before the only villain in this story is the guy playing lego castles. He is the guy who created the dance by messing again and again.
Not sure you can be a saint and produce bastard children whilst also sleeping with a member of the Kingsguard and her Uncle.

there's no outright "good" character to root for like Tyrion or Ned which I do think lets it down at times. I was rooting for young Rhaenerya but I think that's more cause Milly Alcock was so good, her adult version... less so. Think Daemon has become a much more likable character (in a sadistic way) since the time jump too. But yeah, it definitely lacks an out and out good guy, which isn't always a bad thing.
it's more later season GoT than early season, sadly.
This is first time that i first read a book and then watched a show. Never again. Always is better to watch a show and thdn read a book

He's not a villain he's just an idiot. He's probably one of the only good guys in the show. Rhaenerya is no Saint, but alicent is definitely worse. This is based of everything we've seen. The worst she's done is be born a female, and have an innocent killed last episode. Alicent had rhaeneryas baby daddy killed along with the hand that got her father back involved. She hooked up with her best mates dad. She's turned her children against their sibling. Shes openly grooming her son for the throne in which there's already an heir. She literally went after a kid. I'm probably missing some. The biggest villain of the series is probably Otto hightower however, his moves have influenced everything
But but but she had no option as they tried to sleep with Laenor and he couldn't rise to the occasion. Also her lover who loved his children so much was cruelly killed by the Greens version of Littlefinger
The king's a tit and most the blonde kids are arseholes.
This post confirms what I said initially ie the show producers bias towards Rhaenyra.
I'm still kinda shocked you can cut the future Queen without any ramification, even if you're the current Queen consort. When the blood was dripping down I thought things were going to get real, but no, that was the end not the escalation.
Not really, she did that shit no? These are key incidents that happened no? I imagine in the books you'd see more of the reason whys she's done the things she's done, but shes stilll done that shit. Unless the TV series has fully left out fecked up things rhaenerya has done, and added in stuff for alicent to create that narrative which I doubt (more book readers would be pointing this out), then how could it possibly be portrayed as a bias to rhaenerya?
to defend Viscerys a little bit.. he decided on Rhaenrya and told her about the Song of Ice and Fire prophecy which he considers important to only keep in the line of succession, so he is chips in on that train, beyond his love of his daughter
Don't think Queen consort is a thing, she is just the Queen.
Under a competent king you probably can't, but Viserys is weak and avoids confrontation, he wants the easy option at all times so just ignores everything instead of doing something about it. He should clearly have punished the kids more and punished the Queen more but didn't want the resulting conflict. He's a coward.
I think you are being a little unfair to Alicent and are maybe missing a large part of her motivation. The character is very obedient and dutifully, she "hooked up with her best mates dad", because she was ordered to by her father. She clearly didn't want any part of that.
She's told by her father that her children will be in danger and that she needs to prepare Aegon to rule. Which again, she does. Also by law, her son should be the rightful heir.
She didn't have Lyonel and Harwin strong murdered it was Larys. She appeared to be appalled by what had happened (I wish the show had went a little more deeply into that, as it seemed to be just brushed off by the next episode).
Up until this point she hasn't had much of a say, if any, in what has happened to her. She has pretty much inherited this entire shit show from the actions of her father and husband. All she had ever done was her duty as a daughter and wife. Compare that to Rhaenyra who has done what and who ever she pleased and you can see why she has festered a lot of resentment towards her over the years.
All of this comes to a head with her son being maimed. Another example of "the blacks" doing what they please with impunity. Taking a kids eye, sounds pretty bad, but for someone like Alicent, I'm sure the concept of an eye for an eye would be considered just? She then attacks Rhaenyra and honestly this is the first time she has "broken the rules". That's why Otto is so surprised. And she gets no consequences from it, in fact she even gets praise. Maybe a sign of things to come.
Her son is the rightful heir by tradition, not law. The king changed the law, before they were even married if I remember correctly.
She was so appalled by larys actions that she said nothing and told him that she'll call upon him again when needed and is thankful for his loyalty.
Her son was maimed because he was a little cnut who picked up a rock to attack his nephews, after he stole his cousins rightful dragon.
As I said, perhaps the show hasnt gone into enough detail about her motivations but she's clearly done worse then rhaenerya this far.
Saying he stole it isn't really correct. Vhagar chose to accept him.
Dragons aren't typically included as a part of any inheritance.

In defense of Alicent, her own son had just had his own eye ruined and weak Viserys just said it was ended with an apology or something and her feelings have been bubbling up with Rhaenyra having 3 bastards that clearly look nothing like their father while she performed her duty for over a decade. The parental angle plus a decade of resentment is certainly understandable.
And there was nothing to indicate that she had anything to do with Viserys' first wife dying. That was literally shown as being the decision of Viserys for the maesters to cut out the baby because he wanted a son so badly. This was reinforced by the maester telling Daemon that cutting out Laena's baby would result in Laena dying so Alicent had nothing to do with that death.
And before it's mentioned, she clearly was shocked by what Larys did and that was not something she had conceived of or was plotting.
She was put in an impossible situation, first pressured by her scheming father to marry her friend's crusty old father when she was young, then left without an ally when her father was dismissed to fend for herself and unlike Rhaenyra she never seems to have slept around whereas Rhaenyra had her pick of anyone in the realm and still chose someone suspect in Cole after almost getting with her uncle and then flaunts her status by having 3 bastards.
So I don't think Alicent is a bad person at all, her actions are a logical response to everything that shaped her life. I guess I'm team green!

Yeah, it pretty much is unless you have your dragon egg hatch. If your dragon egg hatches, that's your dragon and your entitled to it (and probably already bonded with it) but if not, its whatever dragon you can claim.
Vhagar to wasn't Laena's dragon from egg either. Vhagar was originally the dragon of one of Aegon the Conqueror's sisters. Laena didn't claim Vhagar until she was like 15-16 or something. So when Laena died, it was up to someone else to bond with Vhagar or not (sometimes dragons don't accept another rider). So Aemon didn't steal Vhagar at all. He was bold enough to try to claim Vhagar and he succeeded. He's really correct, that the Velaryon girl should have claimed Vhagar right after her mom passed away. Waiting that long left Vhagar up for grabs basically.

Yeah, and I completely disagree with that. I think Rhaenyra's actions have been clearly worse than anything Alicent did.
What's has rhaenerya done that is worse than the killing of harwin strong and the hand of the king (which she is ultimately fine with as we saw last ep)?

I don't care about the book but the show made a point of showing why Viserys does not want to do any harm to his daughter now. He took a long time for him to come to terms with killing his wife for a son. His own loss and guilt of also depriving his daughter of her mother is something he is unable to deal with. In a sense he is shown to be too "nice" to be a king. So clearly a wrong choice in some way.
She did not but she's clearly fine with it based on last episode no?
