Horror Movie Fans

Quarantine is a poor version of Rec.

Rec is the Spanish made version, then the USA version Quarantine followed. I much prefer Rec, having subtitles doesn't bother me. I just found it a lot more intense and scary than Quarantine, plus the acting was far better.
I know.

I've seen just about every horror movie ever made which is a bit surprising as I almost always find them disappointing. Just addicted to them I suppose. Some good suggestions here.

Some others I'd throw in would be "Jacob's Ladder", "The Changeling" (George C. Scott's from the 80's) and of course "The Exorcist" which still seems by far the scariest to me. "In Dreams" had a few amazing sequences as well, but on the whole wasn't terribly good.

There are some absolutely brilliant old silent horror classics that are worth it for the visuals like "The Man Who Smiles", and obviously "Nosferatu". Not scary anymore, but still beautiful.

I recently saw "The Children" and it managed to get under my skin a bit (a good thing). I see a kid now and I start swinging. Like short people after you see the original Willy Wonka. Just the thought of those moralizing little demons dancing around and chanting like that curls my toes.

Audition
Rosmary's Baby.
The Tenant
Lost Highway
Jacob's Ladder
Omen
Paranormal Activity
The Changeling
Don't Look Now
Tale of Two Sisters
The Exorcist.

I actually started watching The Shining for the first time last night. Got to that first part where they show the two girls and the blood come from the lift and i was like "feck this!" I think i was too switched on last night to be watching shit like that, i would never have slept.

Gonna give it another go on the weekend if i get bored at any point.

I'll tell you a horror movie I thoroughly enjoyed was 1408. I would be well into watching that again

Is that the one with John Cusack? I liked it, too.

When I think back to all the horror flicks I watched as a youngin', none of them would hold up today.

Found it a little disappointing tbh Doc, I love Cusack, big fan of his and thought his performance in it was excellent as most of the movie he is acting on his own, But I felt the film itself left a little to be desired in the end, didn't have the scare factor that I thought it could have done.

I'd rate it a 7.

The Orphange is my favourite 'horror' of recent times, great film.

Anyone seen Rec 2 yet?

Got it here, thinking of having a back to back with the first one as it apparently carries on from where it left off, although I do remember feeling a little let down with the first but that may have just been the mood I was in at the time.

The first Rob Zombie Halloween is OK, you'd be better off watching the original though.

I've not been left with even a tiny shred of scared by a film in ages, so yeah I get ya.

I was coasting through the Japanese version of Ring up until the phone call scene, at which my phone actually rang (I did not answer it). From that point up until the end I was scared shitless. That night I slept in the living room, which had no TV. (The bedroom had one)

Anyway, back on topic: There was an old TV movie called something like The Murder of Mary Phagan which I remember being a bit scary. More of a period thriller, really. But still scary. Just checked; it's not a movie but a miniseries.

'Night of the Demon' is still an effective film after all these years. A real treat if you haven't seen it. Another good oldie is 'Horror Express'.

Somebody recommended 'Triangle' but I haven't watched it yet.

'Re-Animator' is always fun to watch again or maybe 'Angel Heart'.
