What are the best horror games? Has anyone played Siren Blood Curse (PS3)? Heard it's the scariest game ever. Also, can you recommend FEAR 2?

Reviews for Resident Evil 5 look a bit disappointing which is a shame since I loved the PS1 version.

I played the original Siren games on the PS2 and they were eery as feck, so i wouldn't put it past them to make this one even freakier.

Resi 5 wasn't scary at all i thought, still enjoyable though.

Dead Space is a good one, very atmospheric.

I have Siren: Blood Curse. I bought it precisely because I heard the same thing as you. After an hour of not knowing what the feck was going on, and getting increasingly annoyed at the horrible controls, I binned it.

I also have FEAR 2. It's not bad, I'd recommend it if you like FPS games. Plus you can pick it up for less than £10 new.

I also have Resident Evil 5, though I have yet to play it. Apparently it is more action based than survival horror.

Nice collection there ;-)

You really didnt finish Siren? But I can imagine that it's no fun if the controls are crap. Is it really that twisted that you havent got a clue whats happening? Weird game.

I played the FEAR 2 demo and I really liked it. I'll probably get it for a tenner.

Dead Space seems to be good!

What do you guys think of Half-Life 2 and Bioshock? It's not really horror but apparently quite atmospheric?

This is my experience of Siren: Blood Curse.

Started it, there is a cutscene of an American film crew seeing freaks killing people. I start off as a random teenager. A policeman appears and starts shooting at me. It tells me to escape from him. I follow a path to a house. I hide in a cupboard. Zombie policeman wanders around looking for me. He leaves, I try to. He bursts through a wall, and I attack him with a shovel I just picked up. He kills me 27 times. Finally he goes down. I wander down a road until I get to a what appears to be a cliff edge. Policeman returns and shoots me, (I presume) killing me.

I then start off as some other asshole. I have to get by a zombie. I do so. Then I go back to being the shot teenager who I thought was dead. I meet some woman who tells me I have eerie powers that allow me to see through the eyes of the zombies. The screen splits and I do so. I try and get rid of zomebievision2010 but can't figure out how to. I shout at the tv, curse loudly and repeatedly, then eject the disc forever.

Lance i had the same trouble with the controls for the original games. Forbiden Siren 2, you had to wiggle the right stick in certain directions to see through the eyes of zombies. You never knew what was going on and switched between characters constantly. The combat wasn't great either as it mainly consised of running away.

It was eerie, had poor controls but was oddly something that i went back to a few times. I might get this other Siren, and probably get just as annoyed as you!

You can download it from the Playstation Store, but it is supposed to take ages. The installation process is apparently almost as bad. I picked it up used in a shop, which surprised me, somewhat, as I don't think it was that popular.

Resident Evil 5 is a really good game.

But best horror game Ive played is Dead Space.

Is there any good Silent Hill games on Ps3? (I have only ever played part 1 and liked it)

I was considering buying Silent Hill: Homecoming. It didn't get a great review from IGN (I enjoy watching their videos), but the general consensus seems to be that it is above average. Incidentally, while looking for it on youtube, I found a video from some irate asswipe who analyses the IGN review and points out where the reviewer "was wrong." Creepy.

System Shock 2, a bit dated now mind you.

Dead Space isn't all that scary, a good game none the less though.

Oh and BioShock and Half Life 2 aren't scary bar a few parts but they are atmospheric as well as being great games in general, both are must plays.

I had a very brief go at Bioshock on the 360, but I wasn't impressed. Is it a slow starter or something? I do enjoy FPS games.

Best thing about Bioshock it's the environment and setting. It caught me immediately, original, and with some philosophical objectivism thrown in for good measure. Ayn Rand - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I like this and I hope that in the future more and more games begin to think out this stuff deeply and not rely just in action/adventure plots to make it interesting.

That's the one I play. Are they different? I didn't finish it though, I had to put the PS3 away for exams now, I'll pick it up in a month or so.

Resident Evil definitely has moved away from 'Survival Horror' which is a shame. 4 and 5 were great (I preferred 4) but of them all, I think I enjoyed the first the most out them all. The remake for the Gamecube was excellent aswell.

I have no idea. I'm just enquiring to make sure there are no problems with it (screen tearing, etc).

I didn't notice nothing unusual, I don't play in HD though, I have a shitty old CRT TV.

Code Veronica on the Dreamcast is my favourite. I haven't played 4, and I'll start playing 5 soonish.

That dog that jumps into the corridor the first time was probably the biggest scare I ever had while playing a game.

Lance Resident Evil 4 is probably the best game ever, no joke!

You must play it. I actually bought a gamecube from gamestation just to play that game last year at uni, only cost me 30 quid.
I would love to play it, but unfortunately, I was in the non gaming wilderness when it was released, so I missed out. Perhaps I'll see if I can pick up a Gamecube on the cheap.

The wii version is supposed to be very good if you have one. RE5 is good, but 4 was better Imo. One of the d/l packs from RE5 was a bit of a throwback to the old game and far creepier than the main game.

Was Resident Evil 4 not released on Ps2 a year or 2 after the Gamecube?

Played it on GC and it really was immense

Definitely picking up both games. Bought Bioshock 1, cant wait to start playing. Not really getting the concept of Half-Life 2, seems to be a few different games packed on one disc, just had a quick read though and everyone recommends it!
