Hockey Fans - What's Up With Sidney Crosby?

He's got Gretzky's touch with Lemeiux's size and speed. Scores goals for fun. Have only seen him in higlight clips, looks to be legit. Have no idea if he'll reach those lofty heights, but most Junior-level prodigies seem to have solid NHL careers.

The fecking Kings will be back on the ice - quite looking forward to it, now that it's here. Luc Robitaille is the greatest Los Angeles King -ever. This is a topic that is not up for discussion.

he's not nearly as big as Lemieux.

Lemieux was 6'4 and upwards of 220

Crosby is 5'11 195

the Kings

He's still 18 he has time to bulk up. Every 5 years there is a new Gretzky or Lemieux he has a lot to prove.

Kings

Never heard of Gretzky? Or Dionne?
 Kings

at least he doesn't have a mullet.

I think he is only 17 actually.

his weight is fine, but he won't grow much more in the height department probably.

he might tap out at 6 foot eventually.

wanna hear a funny story about a pro hockey player?

I went to school with Bill Guerin, who is a nice guy but dumb as a stump. He cheated off me every test in 2 different classes...

the funny part is that is how dumb he was...he actually cheated off me, and I was stoned most of the time

Isn't he going to Pittsburgh? NHL will be quite interesting this season with the cap and all. Much more even, Calgary might be tough to beat considering they were excellent last time around with a small budget.

His build, FLASH. Not his height, obviously. 25+ lb. difference you mentioned. Just some some shots of him in shorts and t-shirt. The kid looked Crissy Ronaldo built. Very solid - not slight, like Gretz.

You're using the  smilie now...let's see what you'll have to say when the new, salary-cap era LA Kings raise Lord Stanley's pot next spring. Mathieu Garon is the future.

Let's hope there's an :Eating Crow: smilie by then.

Good story Flash

Hockey players are notoriously thick lads, even for Canadians :wenger:

I've heard of both of them and have seen both play - Gretzky on numerous occasions. Once again, Luc Robitaille is the greatest Los Angeles King - ever.

The other two were better players - that's not the point. They weren't the best to wear the sweater. Lucky's going to the Hall of Fame and he's going as a King. Couldn't be prouder of him. He just turned 40 and signed a 1 yr./1m deal yesterday. His final home game, if you get a chance to see it...you will see what I mean. I can't wait until Opening Night. Saw Lucky at Hollywood Stars Night Softball Game @ Dodger Stadium not too long ago. Spent a few innings giving Lucky the "Luuuuuuuuuuuuc" chant every time he came to bat or made it out toward his LF spot. He gave me and my buddy the thumbs up. Class player and a gentleman personafied.

Good for Luc, he always seemed a decent sort. Dionne played in obscurity on the left coast and mostly before I arrived. Having said that I'll still never forgive the Kings (or Gretz) for that high-stick against Gilmore

Dougie had it coming :D

Sorry about '93. That was one of the best series ever. Then I have Marty fecking McSorley to thank for ruining my life immediately after that, so...I feel your pain.

Robitaille is a decent player, not much compared to the boys below.

very Ruud would appreciate the presence of Esa Pirnes in our line-up, at least. If you're an Avs fan, I think I'm done talking to you, Richt.

Avs are screwed but at least I can laugh at Garon

Now that hockey's back with a salary cap the clowns in the Canadian media think that the 6 teams north of the border will be able to attract better players in free agency (if the cash is equal) because 'they will want to play at home'. Is this more bullshits?

You should know better hehe but Canadians always thinks their players wants to play at home rather playing in a sunny place in US especially Maple Leafs fans think so ;)

It might work for the Leafs since this town has mucho dinero. If a player doesn't mind being recognised wherever he goes it's not a bad option.

I'll join the league, too.

Forsberg to Vancouver.

Starting forwards: Naslund - Forsberg - Bertuzzi

eat that :D

(i can hope!)

Living in Texas, I hadn't followed hockey and rarely heard about the sport until the Gretzky trade to the Kings (though I did attend a lot of Fort Worth Texans games in the early 80s as a small child). I really didn't become a fan until the Stars moved to Dallas in 1993. Before then, I'd watch the odd game here or there on ESPN. I was a Super Mario fan though. I have an autographed photo he sent me. My friend and I sent in a request for autographs to the Penguins and they sent a couple back, including Lemieux. I didn't realize he was the best in the game at the time. So I became a big fan of his in 1990.
