Is awesome. Just... awesome.

Who is your favourite character?

And, if you were given a special ability akin to those in the show, what would you have? Please don't take one that's already in the show -- that's boring. I think I'd probably like the ability to make myself look like anyone else.

Definately Sylar, the guy is one of the most intriguing characters i've seen on tv.

I would love to have the power of the force like in star wars.

Btw somebody called betty alderdy has your ability in the show.

Hiro is by far the best character.

I would go with the ability to teleport .

micah's power to cheat machines would set me up financially and a distant second is the british guys invisibility wich would get me in girls locker rooms

the best character is the officer (except in the episode 'five years later' when he turns into a ruthless cop)

That totally doesnt say anything about you now, does it? :)

Awesome show - even the characters that turned out to be irritating or annoying at the start (niki and her perpetual "ooh i don't know what's going on" boringness) turned out awesome at the end of the season.

Favourite characters - that's hard to say. Peter and claire I suppose, I completely bawled during some of the claire storylines.

But yeah, with someone like peter around, it kinda cancels out the "what power would you have?" doesn't it when you can have it all???

Anyway, can someone explain to me why didnt someone just shoot peter at the finale of last season? It's still bugging me.

Have you seen every episode of the first series yet?

I'd love to be able to fly. Makes travelling the world that much cheaper:D

How do you mean? I'm a geek? Wow, you're right. I should crawl into a hole and die.

And, no, I havn't seen all the episodes quite yet, so it looks like someone has that ability. I only picked it because it was one I hadn't seen in the show, my all-time favourite is probably Hiro being able to stop time and teleport.

And, can someone here who understands the show a little better than me explain something? I thought all of the Heroes were different, but it seems to me that at least two powers are shared between people. Claire's real mother and that Ted bloke both seem to be able to control fire, so it's not unique, and Peter and Sylar can both take on other people's abilities.

Coolest character is Isaac and he's the reason I watched the show cause a mate said "watch it, there's a guy who can paint the future when he's high" and I thought that was hilarious.

As for powers I'd obviously have peters since he can take on all the others

Peter and Sylar essentially have the same ability only it works in different ways. Peter can absorb powers simply by touch, Sylars ability to take powers is more a knock on effect of he's ability to "understand how things work" hence he's ability to fix watches that he need to take appart to understand.

This is why he has to kill most of the people he steals powers from, because much like watches he has to take them appart to understand how they do what they do, so he need to see their brains in most cases.

I can't remember who ted is so I can't help you with that.:)

Aha, so Claire's mother can just manipulate fire. Her power is fire. She can burn things, set fire to herself, make things burn etc? Whereas Ted's power is radiation, a by-product of which is that fire can be produced, but he can't control the fire directly?

Makes sense.

But, despite a few logistical differences (ie, the difference between touching someone and killing them), Peter and Sylar are very similar. Somehow I think that that'll become a plot-point somewhere down the line, even if it doesn't in the first series.

I'd heard a lot about it when it was airing in America, but thought it sounded too childish: "people with superpowers." After seeing the first episode on BBC I was hooked... and downloaded the whole season.

It's genius how they managed that - they took something that potentially could have been hideously camp (like the batman movies with val kilmer) or trashy (like smallville) and made it very ... real. Amazing character development.

It's a fair point although they probably own more than a little thanks to M. Night Shyamalan for the film Unbreakable.

Good reference/point. I loved that film - I think I read somewhere that Shyamalan actually intended to have more films developing Bruce Willis' character but those fell through due to the poor response to the first film :( which is a real shame i think.

It sure is a shame as it's the first piece of screen or TV work that I had ever seen portraying the idea of super powers as a logical concept based solely on the idea of evolution of a species.

I think the genius of heroes is to take this idea and combine it with an idea possibly from X-men(and marvel comics in general) the idea of a gene which carries the genetic code for super powers.

Quite smart indeed.

Wow, that episode was awesome. Now I can't wait for the second series :(

They're doing a miniseries, too. Heroes: Origins. Sounds fun, in a way. It'll be six episodes long, and each episode will be stand-alone; introducing a character, giving them and then concluding a story arc in the same episode, so each is a self-contained "chapter". Each of the six episodes will have a different new character, and the stories will not be important to or affect the main Heroes storyline (although some of the main cast may make minor appearances), so it's just fun. Though apparently, when the miniseries has run, there'll be a vote so that audience can decide which of the six new characters should be introduced to the main series.

I wonder about what powers these six new Heroes might have, though. All the good ones have been done already (time-stopping, telekineses, telepathy, invisibility, regeneration, persuasion, fire control, ice control, radiation control, super-strength, flying, shapeshifting, phasing; even a power that's the antithesis to the other powers), so they've got limited options left.

They've already had to come up with stupid ones like sucking oxygen out of the air or controlling the internet with your mind, I hope they don't continue in that vein. Can anyone think of any "classic" powers that they havn't done yet? I can only think of electricity manipulation akin to the ice and fire control already in the series.

And, yes, before other people, like happened earlier in this thread, laugh at me for enjoying the series, I will admit I'm an unashamed geek. At least, I'm a geek in the sense I like geeky things like "Heroes".

I love Heroes.

I'd have mid-air sex with the one that can fly

Nathan?

Dania Ramirez playing Maya

She apparently needs her brother Alejandro (played by Shalim Ortiz) for their powers. They're fraternal twins in the show.
