I've been very critical of this lad. He's been absolutely fantastic tonight so far. Long may it last!

Should have scored 2 from that chance.

*peeks in*

Is he still shite lads?

Another solid outing. Helped by a lot of space but he did very well.

The way he played tonight is the way he has been playing all season bar the Super Cup and second half last Saturday. The only difference is that we were 3-0 up after 35 minutes and this makes his performance be branded good by the very same people who have been criticizing him harshly all season so far.

I have been defending him all along. Tonight himself and Matic bossed things. Martial was very good too. But everything good was coming from Matic and himself.

I can guarantee he will do the same against Palace and that if we are not three nil up at half time, people will criticize him. He is probably our most creative player and one of the few who can see a pass.

That's the thing about him though : he always ends up dividing opinions.

Love him to bits, seems the one player who can crack open the tightest defence!

His inconsistency was still here today, too, but to a lesser extent. Good game and took his goal very well. The chance he missed in the first half was an
outstanding save from their GK.

No he hasn't, tonight he doesn't overrun and lose the ball in the middle of the pitch, he doesn't get out-muscled by the defenders easily, and he release the ball quicker than usual, watch last week game against Basel and if you still say it's the same performance with tonight then maybe we're watching different player

I think most of us know he's one of our most creative and dangerous player, but his lack of consistency clearly is a problem, tonight is clearly his best performance this season

This is why he's so annoying because we've seen how good he can be like tonight and against Spurs, but he is probably the most inconsistent player I've seen play for us. His level can drop so low in a bat of an eyelid. Hopefully he keeps it up against Palace.

Umm, no. We criticise Micky 'cause he loses the ball and makes bad decisions a lot in a full match but both those traits were kept at a minimum today so he has rightly been praised.

But to come here and claim this is a standard michy performance this season is quite frankly revisionism, let's all hope he replicates this kinda performance going forward to match his stats

If he is as bad as some of you have been making out Mourinho would have benched him. If we were not 3-0 up by half time, he would have been criticized. He has been playing the same way tonight in most games, looking for space, trying to make good passes and beat defenders. Yes, he loses the ball or miss places a pass. I counted De Bruyne doing it four times in the first half last night for city.

He has not been playing as bad as some posters have been making out. He is by far our most creative player. Loses his 50/50s a bit too much. But I have been defending him all along against some awful criticism by posters on this website.

He is not far off. Look at his stats, not only assists and 1 goal in PL. Look at the ratings, pass rate and so on. A lot of people over react. Hell, just a guy above you basically claims that he had only 2 good games in United shirt.

Statman Dave put out Miki's numbers after 50 games. 13 goals, 12 assists. Goal average every 146 minute of play.

True, and for whatever reason he seems to perform better in the european competition.

Hope he starts performing like this in the league as well.
Pace of the game and officiating.

If he doesn't have to worry about being bulldozed without being award fouls, he's great. Otherwise he rushes things a lot.

That's not the case though, so he either has to bulk up or learn to draw fouls the way Mata did.

That could be it, but it's easier said than done. Let us hope that he does improve in that area.

That's the thing, you're only referring to stats but football is more than the numbers (though they play a crucial part). For every assist he makes he messes up a couple of chance creating opportunities and though this applies to flair players as a general rule, michy's missed opportunities are quite frequent and frustratingly simple at times

De Bruyne miss placed or lost possession at least four times in the first half last night. David Silva did the same at least five times last night. How do I know? Because I counted them myself, because I knew someone would come on criticizing Mkhitarian. He is the same type of player to them. He loses the ball or misplaces it, but eventually he gets through. All players in that position do.

Instead of criticizing him, get behind him.

Haha, you're a man on a mission ehn.. Can't fault your enthusiasm what with the counting and all

Anyways, I did accept that flair players will lose the ball more than usual so the Silva and de bruyne bits is in lime with my post and I get where you're coming from

If you don't have a problem with michy's performances that's fine but I have my concerns in some areas of his play while acknowledging what he brings to the team

The way he tries to beat a player makes me laugh. It seems the plan is, just run and hope I can get it through the player, or if its stop, try force it through.
Loved how he followed up for his goal. And a lovely finish, made it look so easy.

Had a good game tonight. When he missed early on I thought it was going to be another one of those for him, but he was on the ball (so to speak) tonight for the most part. His goal is the kind you only score if you're being really mobile and involved in the game.

I actually thought the his best bit of play was for his goal. The speed, awareness and quickness of thought he showed to get onto that ball before anyone else was excellent

No CSKA players were picking him up, he just roamed without any trouble.

Excellent player but needs to be more consistent. We need him more than ever now with Pogba out. On his day he can win a game with a defence splitting pass/run but needs to do it in every game.
