Nowhere to be seen. For some reason escapes criticism despite being our worst player on the pitch(check Lingard's thread in comparision).

Not great at all today after two very good games prior. We'll chalk this one off down to fatigue/a joint abysmal team effort for most of the game.

A shite performance and thrown under the bus, aren't we such brilliant balanced fans.

Failed to use his brain today. The space was out wide so naturally both Mkhitaryan and Lingard decided to play inside.

Lingard didn't play at all two days ago. Micky also created that chance Lingard failed to convert.

He was simply OKAY. Not shite like some reactionary fans think.

Should've had an assist though.

Clearly affected by the fatigue, that's not his fault.

Are you sure about that? He broke the Ukrainian goal scoring record in 12/13 season with 25 goals for a midfielder.
Yes, I'm sure. I saw him several times in UCL for Shakhter. He was a terrible finisher back then. You could probably get away in the Ukranian league with such poor finishing because Shakhter used to so dominant in those days, but in UCL you need to be far more clinical.

He was OK today, nothing special, neither particularly good nor bad.

He'll have better days, as will most of the team we put out today.

Not one of his best today, played a bit like how he did vs City at times. Him and Lingard kept switching sides too much and when he moved out on to the left he struggled and kept coming inside to try and get the ball.

Not one of his best days but was not as bad as reading this thread would have you believe.
Dead right. Too many posters have unrealistic expectations of our players. It was a so-so performance from a player capable of the spectacular. Like most of the team today Mhiki looked a little fatigued. The come-back on Boxing day was both physically & mentally draining and it was noticeably apparent. The "fresh"players underperformed today and the sending off negatively affected both teams. Fitness, or lack thereof, may be a factor too. Might be part of the reason Jose was not quick to bed him into the team from the start of the season. Still too good not to start most game imho.

Do people even watch games? Should have had a brilliant assist and had a decent game overall. Can't expect an amazing attacking performance against a team that shuts up shop trying to cram 9 defenders in the box.

This was always a tough match ok. I thought he did well. Wasnt as good as other matches but thats to be expected because its a tough game.

Having watched a lot of games today, most of the players seemed evidently tired in many of those games.

I think this 48 hour turnaround is a terrible marketing gimmick by the league that needs canning.

As for Micky, some people are forgetting that this is his first Winter in the league. It takes some getting used to..

Probably because he started the last match which was 48 hours ago (while Lingard was rested) and probably because he didn't miss a clear chance from 5 yards while the keeper was on his arse. And probably because he is here for just the last 5 months or so and has been injured on half of that time. And probably because he is not adapted to the winter crazy schedule considering that it is his first year here.

Just saying.

Was surprised he started today. Wasnt a great game but its fine, since he started 2 days ago and was at it whole game. Think hes more excusable than Lingard (as mentioned by @Revan).

He actually did ok, not spectacular, but ok. The one touch cross to Valencia, nice pass to Ibra in the box. Spreaded the ball around a bit. He got 7.14 rating at Whoscored. Certainly, not the worst performer in the team.

He has understandably always struggled against teams that park the bus. He doesnt have the height or strength to fight through that traffic, especially when receiving a pass with his back to the goals and a defender climbing over him.
He still did alright though and should've had an assist or two. Some people expect too much.

We have good quality players on the bench that are consistantly making an impact when they enter the game. But it shouldnt be forgotten that they're playing against tired players.
I only say this because people will say Rashford and or Mata should be starting games.

Decent game, not sure what people are on about. West Ham parked the bus mostly and while he wasn't at his best, he was tidy enough and helped our overall play and created a few chances and dangerous positions. The reason he isn't getting any criticism is because, well, he didn't do anything that deserved criticism and the game hardly encouraged any good performances? Rashford and Mata literally the only 2 attackers who did well, as they were the only fresh players there.

He was visibly tired. Not used to back to back games in such short time maybe. With Hammers parking the bus right form the word go, it was always difficult. He tried some of his things though. Overall not a crap game, but ineffective.

Awful game. Sell him. Unless he has a 7/10 game next week, in which case keep him, but if he has an awful game the following week then we should sell him. This thread.

The opinions on here are as ever a bit extreme. To be honest, nobody performed to their top level. You could tell the players were tired from a very busy period. This is Miki's first season here, he has never had to deal with fixture congestion like this before, so give the guy a break, he isn't going to be knocking scorpion kicks in every game.

Yes he wasn't at his best, but he still was one of our most creative players and he is a superb talent.

Well, it's not just Lingard, after one hour of the game people kept talking again about Herrera being average player and bringing nothing to our play. And it's quite easy to imagine the criticism Mata would receive for performance like Mkhi's.

He had a pretty quiet game. He cannot be expected to be man of the match every game so it's of absolute no concern he had a quiet game as he was due one.

Yeah, Herrera's critics were absurd considering that it was clear that he was extremely tired (run more than any other player 2 days before and he plays at such high energy).

Jesus wept. What a ridiculous post that is, I'm sorry.
It's not a ridiculous post, I'm sorry. He had a couple of good moments but overall he was way below his best. It was his first bad game in a pretty long time, in my opinion, which coincides with the back to back game in two days. He was probably running on fumes, which half the team was so I'm not going to hold it against him at all. I was just voicing my opinion that he had a bad game compared to the standard he has reached this season and last.

This place is a nuthouse. A player has a few good games and is world class, the saviour. The same player has one average game and we analyse every single detail. Have people not got anything better to do. We won. We are on a roll. Hopefully we will move dead wood out in January and I am looking forward to the last 5 months

Then Ibra really had a bad game by you standarts. Damian, Lingard as well. He had an ok game. To say that he had a really, really bad game is not fair.

could have easily grabbed an assist to his name, had that happened feedbacks would have been far more nuanced

You said 'he had a really, really bad game'. Which he never, therefore you are wrong. He didn't have a particularly great game but to say what you did is just complete over the top nonsense.

it's not hard to see that he is much better when played with Martial than Lingard. Playing Martial gives width and creates more spaces for him to run at. He is not quite effective against compact teams without players around him in his wavelength. He did fine yesterday considering a missed assist.
