look I'm definitely a conservative, and definitely not pretending as an appeal to common beliefs, but I have to say I'm very concerned about the trend of conservative professors trying to shut down free speech
Guardian said:An irate Santa Claus astonished children at a Christmas event in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, this week when he burst out of his grotto during a fire evacuation to shout and swear at them while tearing off his hat and beard.
The entertainer is understood to have told attendees to “get the f*ck out” after a smoke machine at a family-friendly rave in the same building as his grotto set off a fire alarm.
Well, people did wonder what Weaste was up to these days...
that's what generally happens when you do corporate gigs
yeah, it really would, unless what you're mad about is homophobia being less acceptable than atheism these daysWould never have happened in Bernard Manning's day.

bernard was criticised for being a bigoted cnut in his day
The big, fat manc was someone I'd never pay to go & see, but he made a good living out of it so I doubt he really gave a shit what people thought of him. Harry Enfield took the piss out of people for years & was loved for it, even by the people he took the piss out of. I wonder how acceptable he would be today with this sort of stuff:

Either the Fast show or Harry Enfield show.Surely that has to be satire? I’d be amazed if it wasn’t.
Yeah it rings a bellEither the Fast show or Harry Enfield show.
Huh? Isn't that taking the piss out of old fashioned values?
Christ, next he'll post a Smashy and Nicey vid and say Enfield was supporting Savile-like activities.
What a twonk!
Of course it is. My question was though is how would such a sketch be received today by this generation ? Social media would probably eat itself, especially by those - & let's not kid ourselves they don't exist in their droves - who can't see past the satire.

Mitchell and Webb did a similar sketch relatively recently and it was very well received.
I think anyone who had a brain in their nut would be able to see it for what it is. Mitchell and Webb did a similar sketch relatively recently and it was very well received.
They also covered Theresa May's latest brexit strategy.

I’d say anything is fair game tbh. I haven’t seen the sketch you’re talking about, mind.OK, let me throw the question out there. What is, & what isn't, acceptable as satirical humour ? Is religion as a whole fair game ? Or are certain religions exempt from being lampooned ? Throughout my life I've seen many sketches taking the piss out of priests, vicars, nuns etc. I ask the question because, ironically enough, the BBC had quite a lot of complaints a few years ago when Harry Enfield & Paul Whitehouse were involved in a sketch making fun of a young girl in a burqa. So should your bolded statement above count for everyone ?

Do you guys just ignore all the edgy shite currently in the media in favour of pushing the agenda that you can no longer have edgy shite in the media because PC blah fecking blah....?Of course it is. The anti-PC crowd isn't railing against rules in this or that medium, they're railing against there being more LGBT and non-white people on these mediums. They're complaining that they get called bigoted cnuts when they're being bigoted cnuts. They want the safe spaces that allow same sex couples to kiss to be replaced with safe spaces where they can say the word faggot without being judged, like in the good old days.Of all the anti-PC arguments anything involving a TV show genuinely makes the least sense to me. Until the 1960s plays could be regarded as blasphemous and until about the 90s swearing and nudity was just a no-go. Of all the areas to highlight...that's the medium that if anything highlights how much things have changed for the better and how much more open society is now. Even if there's the occasional weirdo who doesn't understand that the lyrics to Fairytale of New York are clearly from the perspective of a character.
I mean, look at something like Monty Python and the Life of Brian. It was slated heavily...but it's not even that controversial unless you're a fecking weirdo! And, guess what, it wasn't the left who were criticising it. Even if you're an older individual who was never at all offended by any fictional medium, you're being fecking delusional if you pretend a significant portion of your own generation weren't.
I'd love to know exactly what you mean by the term 'you guys'. Surely you're not generalizing a whole swath of people who express their concerns regarding just how much political correctness has gripped societies right across the western world. Because guess what bro, people like me were being kind, respectful, & decent to people of other races, colour, & creed long before you were born. We didn't need PC to let us know that it was offensive & insulting to the aforementioned to single them out for negative treatment because of where they were born, or the colour of their skin, or their religious beliefs. 'You guys' seem to have this massive misconception that we want political correctness to be abolished so that we can embark on some sort of orgy of verbal warfare on people who are non-white, gay, trans-gender etc, etc. This is all about free speech & how it's becoming slowly eroded because of 'you guys'. Self appointed moral guardians of what can, & can't, be said. So 'you guys' really need to wind your respective necks in pretty sharply before you yourselves find yourselves in a situation whereby you have plenty to say but don't have the media platform to say it.
In keeping in line with the comedy theme, you might want to spend the next 10 minutes listening to Rowan Atkinson talking about free-speech on this video clip. Hopefully, it might sink in. But I'm not holding my breath.
