Harry Kane backing into defenders

Thou shalt not criticise Spurs or a Spurs player. It’s the 11th commandment for Spurs fans on here. I’m surprised they aren’t pointing out the United players that do it. Or maybe they can’t.

We rarely criticise Utd players on here because we know it would wind people up and we try to be respectful (mostly). Utd fans on here however like nothing better than to wind up Spurs fans and criticise our players and our manager.

Things Shearer could do when he was playing:

He could elbow with impunity
He could two foot players
He could kick the ball into the stands to water time in front of the ref
He could play gamesmanship against black players by shouting "dirty n*****r" at them

None of them were good things and should be and have been eliminated.

What?!
Where's this come from!?
Couldn't find anything on google.

Surely you can counter any criticism of Spurs without resorting to but ‘United’. Criticism of the manager should be easy to understand.

Not when he is no longer your manager no. The obsession with Jose here is really, really strange to me.

The only reason this has come into the game is that the instigator gets a foul. In the old days the ref would wave play on or favour the one attacking the ball. It doesn’t bother me but it’s dangerous whichever way you look at it and could break a neck.

He's a former United manager who massively polarised opinion. You act like this isn't first and foremost a Manchester United forum.

Has this suddenly come up today because Arsenal Fan TV mentioned it?

I'm not saying he did any of those things as I worded it carefully. Black footballers were abused leading into the 90s.

Having a beef with former players or managers who left in negative circumstances is fairly common place in football.

This forum has such a weird fascination with Harry Kane
Think a fair few need to just accept he's an utterly world class footballer and get on with life
Every striker in the game does the same thing btw

I think I misread it as you saying the stuff he's done before. As the elbowing was obviously a well known one!

Very very dangerous. Come down on your head from that height and you are in trouble.

Doesn’t help when people like Carragher are doing pieces about how these little things are him being “street smart”
When you’re English it’s smart, when you’re foreign you’re an insult to Nobby Stiles memory.

He’s a fantastic player but he gets away with a hell of a lot and playing for Spurs he escapes a lot of scrutiny for it.

Ehh it's a United forum. You should expect everyone here to be biased and shite all over our rivals. If a rival fan wants to post here he should be fine with such things, I believe. The opposite is true too, if a United fan joins a Spurs forum he should be fine seeing United getting mocked there.

Do you think the Spurs forums are full of glowing endorsement for Manchester United or something

I assume this is the current agenda against Kane then? You English guys should be worshipping the ground he walks.

You’re a good poster but I think you’re letting your bias get the better of yourself here a bit. He’s obviously excellent and probably the best player in the league this season currently alongside Fernandes but this part of his game is clearly an issue this season too. It’s really dangerous and it doesn’t really matter if other players did it in the past, there are many things players used to be able to that they can’t and the game is more safe due to that. He’s super lucky that nobody has broken their neck.

World class player, and the best in the league this season together with Bruno and Son. However, this must be brought to light. He did it again just now to Gabriel. It is seriously dangerous and can lead to either head or back injuries for him or his opponent. He is an expert at it and one way or another, it must be stopped. It won’t even take anything away from his brilliant ability.
Sooner or later it will happen.

I agree, he scored a hat trick against Panama in the World Cup. A little bit of respect wouldn't go a miss on here.

I’m English, and think Kane is a terrific player. However, I can assure you, I don’t worship the ground anyone walks on. Perhaps if he scores the winning goal in an international final, I will at least doth my hat to him.

seriously though, fantastic player. When you play at a high level, you will get more analysis, more attention, more criticism. I know this is unusual, as he plays for Spurs. :D

we don’t criticise your manager, we are just waiting for the cycle to complete. We are the same at Chelsea fans. they used to tell us what would happen. We didn’t believe them. We though he has changed. We thought he had finally found his home. They said just wait...

We all know what’s going to happen. We went through the same thing.

when he goes into meltdown, come and join the support group. You will then be able to see with clarity the Jose cycle.

I'd never noticed this before from him. It's bang out of order. Annoys me that refs have not got a clue and wised up to this.

Hand on heart, I can not recall a player doing it with the frequency, or to the extremes, that Kane does it – at least in the last 10/15 years. At any rate, it's irrelevant, it's incredibly dangerous (I do not honestly think you can watch what happens to Gabriel and conclude otherwise) and he needs to stop doing it before he injures someone. It's hardly going to take anything away from his game if he does.

Kevin Davies is the worst I’ve seen, at least with the 10/15 years timeframe.

Defenders should warn Kane beforehand that if tries anything like that on him they will look to shatter his ankles. He won't be long giving up that nasty habit then.

It's one of these areas where footballers or ex-pros will instantly know how dangerous it is, whereas refs are slower to cotton on. Mainly because they haven't gone up for many aerial challenges like that and had their body taken from beneath them. So they have to wait for some bad injury, resulting media outrage, then for refs to come together to figure out a shared position, before we see any response.

Mark Hughes and Alan Shearer were masters at this

All part of the centre forward trade imo... Glad this part of the game is still there. Love the battles between the CF and the CB

Christ people dont want football to be a physical game anymore. The game will be soon a foot version of basketball at this rate  (it's gettin there)

Red card in Rugby.

Potential “disqualification” (red card) if seen as “flagrant” in American Football (15 yard penalty).

Not even a free kick when Harry does it.

Good thread, important to highlight this.

Brilliant player but it really is dangerous. In different sports that would actually be red card/ejection

Regardless of if it's Kane or not, needs to be stamped out quickly.

This comes down to the refs, as soon as a few yellows start being given out for doing it the players will stop. This is not solely a Kane problem, most strikers are instructed to do it, this is literally what you are taught to do as a striker.
