Hannibal Mejbri | Birmingham Loan Watch

After seeing Garnacho last night, this lad is the next 'shoo-in' for me. Really hope he is given a role next season because he can do it all as a midfielder, including kicking people if needed (not a weakness as some think, more a sign he won't be bullied by senior players).

QPR vs Birmingham on Skysports tonight.

Hannibal, Laird and Chong could all be playing.

I would hope that if Laird and Hannibal were challenging each other for the ball, it would be full throttle, 100% determination to win that challenge.

Yellow for Hannibal in the 7th minute. Interesting to see how he can handle that.

And an assist by Hannibal, albeit not the most pretty one (he did tunnel the ref though, before making a short sideways pass). Hannibal has been at the center of everything so far though.

Hannibal with a lovely one-two with the ref before giving an exquisite assist for 2-0.

He is so so rash pretty much all the time.

Just needs to calm and compose himself when on the ball.
He is like this every game, plenty of running, plenty of effort, a little quality every now and then but plenty of rash decisions.

Zero quality. Teams littered with internationals.

Honestly people’s perceptions are so disjointed from reality
What are you talking about? Outside of the second goal this game has had very little technical quality. it’s 100 MPH. It’s very physical. It’s been technically poor.

Neither team has a pass success rate higher than 70% ffs.

If you think Championship players have zero technical ability then I suggest you never watch Sunday league. You’re talking absolutes on something which is patently untrue, pretty much every player at that level is a VERY good player, just because someone isn’t at Manchester City’s level doesn’t mean they are technically poor. It’s utter nonsense.

Think that owes more to the work rate of both teams off the ball than actual technical quality though.
Birmingham employing a very high energetic press, QPR very similar.

There's quality all over the pitch, this game is more of a battle though.

I said this game. It has been low on quality. That doesn’t mean I’m saying every player in it is shit and is always shit. QPR have been miles off their usual standard.

You responded to a post about the EFL agreeing and saying there’s zero quality. It’s literally right there and it’s nonsense.

Not all Championship games are like this, this is being played at a much higher intensity than normal.

Hannibal almost scored with a shot, after a nice little run and dribble only for Ethan Laird to put in a spectacular block.
He is risking a red, he is already on a yellow and still fouling. QPR are going to target him second half.

Hannibal would definitely get some consideration for MoM if it was decided at half time.

Re the standard of play: The Championship game is usually played at a pretty high pace and there are definitely more boring leagues to watch, I rather watch the chip then like a game between two teams in the middle of the standings of La Liga.

I agree for sure, but at the same time, like given how Birgmingham is playing, the talent he is surrounded with, just being patient with the ball by moving it around the team waiting for an opening isn’t an option.

With that said, I definitely don’t think it would hurt him to like go on loan to a better team in Portugal or half solid team in Spain that plays with more possession.

Yeah but I lol’ed at the commentator going ‘Hannibal must calm down, he has a yellow already’. If you have seen Hannibal before, this is how he looks when he really have calmed down. Without the yellow after 6 min he would surely have had a couple of crazy tackles already.

Nope, Chair would beat him in that game,
Nope, Hannibal is quite clear the best I've seen in this game. The takedown from the long kick from Ruddy and the way he took the ball in his stride for the blocked shot was evidence of that.

No. I replied to a poster talking about THIS GAME saying it is disjointed. Which it has been. There have been regular passages of play where the ball will be turned over 6 times in 30 seconds. Twice a player has literally cleared the ball off their own player and out for a throw. It’s chaos. It’s 100mph. It’s very physical. And there’s been a lack of technical quality on the pitch. It’s kick and rush. Now that doesn’t equate to no player having any quality or the EFL has zero quality - it’s specific to this high intensity game - you’ve just made that up in your head to start some pointless argument.

Hannibal is just as we remember him from the U21 - in terms of skills, head and shoulders above everyone else - and balancing the red card-line all the time.

But that goal from Trusty was was quality. One of the contenders for goal of the season - not sure he meant it - but wonderful goal

In this game so far maybe yes, but Chair is undoubtedly the player with the better touch.
There isn't an argument to be had there.
