If he's not going to be regular in the first team next season we should loan him out next year.

I hope he can show his worth to ETH in pre-season...but you just know McTominay will put in a few MotM performances on tour before turning back into Joe Average after the first game of the season.

He may well do, but if he is worried about losing his place, as it will be with all the current squad still here in pre season, then that can only be good for the club.
I rate Hannibal very highly, and if Mctominay does start the season well, I still believe that a better player will eventually usurp him from his position.
Mctominay would still be a decent option off the bench next season, but in subsequent seasons he may struggle to get a spot in the squad if our academy prospects get their opportunity.

There were reports Ralf was livid with him after the Liverpool game but they were either not true or they've made up.

Probably made up (the news) like most of the nonsense written

Probably the only interesting or vaguely positive thing about today.

Ten Hag is in the stands, so it’s a good opportunity to make an impression.

Getting a chance to prove himself in the "tadic" role as well. Wonder how much of an influence ETH had on that selection?

Hope he hasn't been shunted to RW. For me is a CM and can manage as a LM.

Hope he shows everyone what he's all about today, AKA 2 assists, a goal and a red card for dissent.

Totally agree. Only negative is he is playing on the left wing probably and we have plenty of options there (whether good enough or not). Id have loved to have seen him at some point this season playing the Fernandes role or a deep lying play maker, but its a start and wing seems to be a starting poitn for lots of attacking younger players. Also if Clyne is starting, that is a competent and experienced defender which is a good test for him

Needs to be more disciplined. Reminds me of Guendozi, who I rated back when he was at Arsenal, just needs the right guidance.

He isn't ready.
Quite the opposite if you ask me. The first challenge for a youngster when entering men's football is handling the intensity and physicality. Very few showcase their full technical abilities immediately. Today showed that he can cope with the intensity.

We can’t judge him until next season, throwing him into a team on poor form and expecting him to the light the place up is ridiculous.

He needs mental and emotional maturation. He's gotten more cards than shots on goal or key passes played. Talented yes, mentally ready, no way.

Bit of a cheap shot. These are hardly conditions for a young player to thrive are they? Let's see how he and some of the others get on next season under a competent coach and hopefully what will be a renewed attitude.

I'm not saying he isn't good enough or that he doesn't have enough talent, he just doesn't look ready for this level right now.

Needs to be careful to not get a reputation. That foul which he got a yellow would have easily been a just a warning if it was someone else.

But it's impossible to judge that. What if he was being eased into a winning team with confidence under a quality manager? In my opinion, there has never been a time where coaching has been more important than it is now.

The good thing he looks physically ready. Those doubts can be put to bed. We know he has the talent. He played it very safe and you can see he didn't take any risks with the ball.

Thought he did well for his debut. Worked very hard, was neat and tidy. Nearly scored in the 2nd half.

Yes he had that tangle with Zaha but that's something he will always have in him, just needs to work on it.

To say he's 'not ready' is a bit ridiculous when his performance levels were no worse than his colleagues.

If anything i'd say he's more than ready to play a lot more than he's been given time.

So a 6/10 then? I didn't watch but it sounds like he did ok without doing enough to really catch the eye?
