Half time interviews

Why do people always lazily describe stuff like this as ‘Americanisation’? That criticism might have been valid in the 90s but the Premier League and British sport in general has been leading the world in tacky bullshit gimmicks for decades now. American sport is actually pretty conservative

finally. looking forward to “skidder cam” where they go through the dressing room toilets and expose the teams with the worst shit stained toilets. they’ll then be the obligatory vote-in where fans can guess who left the streak.

probably spawn a football fantasy type spin off where you buy players based on their leavings and see who gets the most points.
Thanks god the likes of Steve Evans and Steve Bruce are in the football league.

it may be conservative, but it’s still more advert than sport. Say what you want about the prem, but at least we haven’t cut to a break when there’s a goal kick

Rugby League State of Origin in Oz they interview the coaches mid game.
They get nothing as the coach gives standard answers to questions so the TV stations do not get the 'Reaction' they are craving for.

Who cares. If it's a team captain, he's going to say something bland. If it's the manager, he's going to say something bland. If it's the pundits in the studio, it'll almost always be bland, though there's a small chance of saying something epically, entertainingly, stupid. Bottom line is, there are so many better things you can do at half time. Go outside and smoke a cigarette. Pop in your VHS tape of the best goals from 1982. Break out the ironing board and see if you can still do a shirt the way your Nana taught you when you were nine. Almost anything is going to be better than whatever is on the TV at half time.

Well if we had our corners sponsored by Bud Light maybe we could afford to sack ETH

Half-time in the Superbowl is 66% as long as the actual playing time of the game. And if we take the time the ball is actually In play, as opposed to the clock running while the ball is “dead”, I’d imagine the Half-Time Show is longer. That is absurd.

Seems unnecessary. Would welcome them bringing ref interviews though and NFL style decision announcements during the game.

Sky's half time "coverage" equates to 2 minutes of the pundits talking shite and 13 minutes of adverts. So I don't know where they would even fit this in, unless it's one interview lasting a few seconds.

This has never added any value to the sports I've seen it used for. They reveal even less than they do in post-match interviews.

One thing that has been very revealing and insightful in Australian sports broadcasting is miking up the umpires in Aussie Rules matches so you can hear the interactions between them and the players when they make their decisions. It really helps in making sense of the decisions. And given the players know the mics are on, the interactions are no longer sweary.

They would probably get more reactions and information if they just interviewed fans in the toilets at half time instead.
