Both.
Maybe I am just too into Kane, but I don't think a player will pop up to his level and have us get him in the near future. Him/Augero/Henry etc. are in their own leagues. We were very close with Shearer, I would like us to make the same hunger to try and get Kane because I would like to think he'd prefer to join us. This is where the "we are Manchester United" thing comes into it but I'm sure growing up seeing United win as someone from this country will be a huge thing for him.Hands up I actually said this without checking. He’s only missed about 500 days in his whole career which is pretty decent. Pogba has missed 400 since he moved here for context. Yeah I really like the idea of Kane. He’s another leader. Seems super professional so if he gets a bit of luck with injuries there’s no reason we can’t get quite a long time out of him. It’s also not my money so what do i care. He’d be a class signing. I wonder though. Surely there’s someone under the radar for half the price that could be nearly as effective.

For sure, Haaland is going to have a terrific career. But given how we've overhauled the infrastructure and reset our approach toward long term planning, I don't think he suits us. That's before we consider player for player attributes. So stung after the Sanchez deal but I knew and I said so at the time to anyone who’d listen that he was going to be a bust. This is Kane’s big move. You know he’ll be super psyched to win titles and another cracking player for our youth to look up to. Yeah the more I think about it the more I like it. I’ve been majorly put off Haaland but you know he’s a phenomenon.

Ideally Haaland but I’m half expecting Ed to bump up Martial’s wages with a new contract and sign Martin Braithwaite.
It changes, but only that everyone knows he wants to leave and has a fee. There's no reason for Spurs to be "reasonable", and "reasonable" for one of the top 2 strikers in world football at 27 from one of the richest clubs in the world is already a fee of £120m or more.Eriksen ran down his contract, they wanted to keep him and said they'd match financial demands of other clubs if it was an issue of salary. When he made it clear he was leaving, they decided to sell early in January to get some sort of a fee at least.
Also, the dynamic changes when a player hands in a transfer request. You're absolutely right in saying Spurs are immensely difficult to deal with but their hand becomes a fair bit weaker when a transfer request comes in.
I think if Harry Kane was available for 120m, there will be interest. Players like him and Mbappe are exception players who are proven quantities that are worth moving for when the opportunity is there. Even moreso than Haaland. It changes, but only that everyone knows he wants to leave and has a fee. There's not a chance in hell that Kane leaves during after a full covid season and no attendance revenue IMO. Nobody will pay that.
Haaland has a contract with a 68m release clause in 2022, meaning he will go this summer. But as you said, has age on his side so clubs will be willing to spend more knowing they might have 10 years of service in their investment.
Kane's contract runs out in 2024 and a proven striker in the PL and at 27 still has plenty of years left.
As much as I'd love that debate and get Kane for £100m and a defender alongside Maquire, i don't see a £50m price tag difference between the two given differences in contract.
So, £150m for either - Haaland it is in in a dream world.
Brilliant He can boast about buying a Barca player the next 10 years
We have a team that gets goals from several different players, if we have a Kane type player the risk is that we start playing solely to his strengths and when he gets marked out of the game we’re screwed.
A whole paragraph of the lowest form of witOh no you're right, the newly discovered concept of marking will be the end to football as we know it, I just pray someone figures out how to counter this paralyzing move before every striker in the world retires.
What's to say when Kane signed a new deal he had a private agreement with Levy saying if he hadn't won a trophy in X amount of time he has to let him go? Deals like this are done but not made public for obvious reasons. Contracts are basically there for one thing, decent transfer fee when sold before it runs out.It changes, but only that everyone knows he wants to leave and has a fee. Haaland represents a better long term investment, in my opinion. He's younger and not injury prone like Harry Kane. Plenty of time for Haaland to work on his all round game.
The downside is Mino Raiola.
This. Each one of them comes with their own pros and cons, but both are world class. In terms of immediately lifting this team, I'd guess a fit Kane would be better for now. But both would be massive transfers which would mean spunking our whole budget on one of them (assuming they'd be open to come to us)I'd be absolutely delighted with either. And surprised.
That is a ridiculous statement. One big injury or a sustained drop in form and his value could plummet as it would with any other player.Pretty much. Even if we assume Kane has 4 good seasons left in him, hes going to cost a fortune. Haaland wont drop in value for another 8 years
Really... I mean I get why you say that but let's say he signs a 5 year contract and after 4 years says he won't sign a new deal ... I mean raiola wouldt exactly talk him out of thatPretty much. Even if we assume Kane has 4 good seasons left in him, hes going to cost a fortune. Haaland wont drop in value for another 8 years
Knowing our luck he’d have one good season then start creaking. Just a bit sick of us signing 28 year olds and acting dumbfounded when they need replacing after 18 months.Haaland easily. Can’t believe the amount of people saying Kane, he’d cost just as much, get injured three times as much, and is a lot older.
Exactly this. He's engineered his way into spending his prime years at Spurs with no way out. He's stuck.Kane just has no exit routes, he locked himself there with that 6 year contract. He’s 28 with a history of injuries that haven’t shown any signs of abating. He wants to break all the PL goal scoring records but there’s no club that can pay Spurs what he’s worth to them. The time to move was last summer or the one before. City aren’t dumb enough to commit 100-170 million or whatever ridiculous figure Levy would want.
The only players worth breaking the bank for are Haaland and Mbappe. Every club would love Kane but he’s stuck at Spurs. Either on a free or with a year left on his deal he could get a move. To who will depend on the league and what it looks like then.
