Guinness sales are falling

I've not looked at the link, but it probably means that the barley has been well toasted rather then burnt to the blackness of coal. This will obviously change the flavour slightly.

Is it a new name for what used to be Kilkenny?

The way they described it on the TV Programme was a lighter version of Guinness, trying to win back the lager drinking crowd.

Without getting into detail, there are basically two methods of making beer, top down fermentation and bottom up fermentation, lager being the latter - and this depends on the type of yeast used. Apart from that, the only difference between them really is the amount the cereals are toasted and the amount of hops applied. After that it's all about the gas mix or lack of at the serving point.

I would guess that this is Guinness, but with toasted rather than burnt barley.

Guinness isn't a travelling ale, it is best drank at the source, same as Tetleys'.

I am a Guinness man, especially if I have a massive hangover, I find it is the perfect pick me up.

its a lovely drink to nurse after a bad hangover from the previous night

not my favourite drink to get pissed on but its lovely to sip a couple of pints of it on a Sunday morning over the papers
