Gaming GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas coming out in HD

I’d agree with this, red dead is fun for a while, but gta will keep you coming back for more, I just wish they would make more of them.
Yeah I'm not saying red dead is a poor game, it's great, just not on the same level as GTA for gameplay, you always come back to GTA, never gets old.

It is other way around for me, I played through RDR2 3, 4 times now, and itching to go again, GTA5 I went through story once which I had to force myself to finish even, and never came back to the game.

Btw.

Yeah it's funny how people have a totally different experience of the two games. I like both, just get drawn back a lot more to GTA. Doesn't look all that great in those pics does it. :(

Everything sold to the public is a cash grab though.
Not solely. The original GTA trilogy was a work of art.

This is just blatant minimal effort and slap a high AAA price on it. The originals with a few free mods included are arguably better. This is just typical of the industry right now, release something that they've already made with a fresh lick of paint and charge full whack. The sooner people clock on and stop putting money in these rip-off artists pockets the better.

Look at Skyrim, the thing must have been re-released about 10 times and people still buy it. Madness.

Are they really though? The GTA5 mod that brings back Vice City straight to GTA 5's engine is fantastic. However the actual VC/SA mods I've found are hit and miss and found it difficult to get a decent balance with them visually but maybe I'm trying the wrong ones. Some of them also just hard crash the game or disrupt the story missions.

Mods are always a bit hit and miss. I was watching a video on San Andreas mods the other day and they made it look really good, for example: -

They're 100 percent working on it now. The gap between GTA V and Red dead was 4 years. The capabilities of hardware has increased since Red Dead meaning they can put even more detail into it. I'd stake a claim that GTA VI will be out in 2 years from now.
The latest reliable rumor was that it will not come out before 2025. That rumor came out with rumors of Trilogy remastered and that turned out to be true.
Still I don't care much about GTA 6, never liked GTA V story mode tbf and I am enjoying GTA Online a lot. Started playing in april and even if I grinded for everything there is to buy there is just so much content in Online added through all those DLC's that no new game could rival it.

About the Trilogy remastered. I played San Andreas to death as a kid and I want to play through GTA 3 and Vice City so I will probably buy it. I especially like that they didn't changed the core how games looked so u get true experience with controls updated for latest hardware.

Definitely are. Seen that one before absolutely class! At the moment I'm mainly trying to work on mods for Vice City to stop myself caving in and buying the definitive edition  getting San Andreas on Xbox Game Pass anyway.

Not everyone has a pc to play though and some just want to plug and play rather than fecking about with mods. 50 quid isn’t that bad of a price for 3 games considering it’s going to hit a big nostalgic chord for a lot of adults whom spend more on fecking random day-to-day shite.

That's great and all, but they removed all other versions of the game so you are forced to pay for this overpriced botched cash in.

If they had kept open the choice to buy the other versions and not shut down all the mod developers people might be less critical.

Ah okay I didn’t know that.

Waiting for it to download on the PS store since 330! As I said I never fully got into them when they were released so for the first real pass tryin it with the updates and getting 3 games for 60 quid : pretty good value and definitely something to look forward to. If I’d bought them and played them out a lot at the time I could definitely sympathise with the viewpoint that it’s a bit of a rip off.

The DE three can always be modded also right? Probably with much better results than the ancient code that they'd to work with on the old trilogy. Still I do totally get the uproar.

In theory it could be, but R* have done everything to annoy the modding community (which has been with them for pretty much 2 decades for the games). They've put cease and desists on the existing mods, stopped any more releases and have also limited the definitive edition release to the Rockstar launcher for now - where they have total control and can stop mods as they want.

The best case scenario is they come back when it's eventually released on Steam, but I can't see why they would come back to the game now to start over when all their previous work has been stopped and they have no assurances that they will be allowed through the R* launcher.

There's reports of horrible frame rate issues on both PS5/SX. Both can drop as low as 35fps even on performance mode which is at a lower resolution. How is this acceptable

Edit: Apparently turning off motion blur helps keep it locked to 60

People with 3000 series GPU's hitting 35 fps on pc

Shock horror it sounds shit. With the amount of money they've made they could probably make GTA 6 incredible.

So they've hardly done anything (shock horror!), charged premium money, and fecked over the mod community.

Rockstar really gunning for the CD Projekt Red title.

How have they charged premium money? £55 for GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas is good value.

You pay more than that for one game these days and you are getting three remasters for that price.

Yes. Three ancient games that have barely been touched doesn't make it worth that kind of money.

It's scummy, no matter how much people want to try to justify it and they are rightfully getting shit for it. Not that it will change anything of course, but I'd prefer people call it out then make excuses for it.

People being surprised by any of this is the most surprising thing

Thinking they're getting GTA V levels of graphics and gameplay

I've played an hour of GTA: SA and I don't think nostalgia is going to be able to get me through the full game. It's rough to play.

Why a game like this has performance options I have no idea. For something that looks like this it should just be a locked 4k/60 on current gen. No questions asked.

I'm playing on Series X I don't notice a lot of frames dropped, so far in performance mode. We'll have to wait to see what digital foundry say on that.

I don't mind how it looks, though. For a remaster and not a remake it looks fine.

Overall, I'm glad SA is in GamePass and I didn't pay any money for it.

I know. I didn't want to say anything as feelings get hurt way too easily over this stuff, but some of the bullposts about what they thought was going to happen did make me chuckle

Most of these games should never be remastered unless the company throws A LOT of money at it. Half arsed remasters do nothing, I'd argue they even change people's views about the earlier versions. What was once a good memory of a playthrough gets soured.

The old GTAs are nothing different from the GTA V. Different settings and different music with worse gameplay. Just remembered more fondly because of less expectations back then. Same formula. Even the missions in GTA V are more varied and better overall.

VRR probably makes it more bearable if not noticeable at all. Sony really need to roll it out for PS5 at this stage...

How much money do you expect them to release it for though? No remaster costs less than £20 a game regardless of quality.

Oh, I don't think it's that in my case as my TV is a couple of years old and doesn't support VRR.
