Television Great British Bake Off 2022 | now 2023

Even though he was bland and his creations not very creative, he was the best cook over the series and I'm happy he won.

Was he the best in the final though? I don't know about that.
Crystelle would've won it if she hadn't made a total mess of that last thing.

Think Chigs had the best final, overall. He was good on all three and won the technical. No bad feedback, whereas Giussepe made a balls of the technical.

They only showed the final tonight in the US so I feel I’m late to this discussion.

Would it have said be something if Chigs won, even though he’s been baking only 18 months? Would that mean baking is easy then?
That’s why I was thinking he wouldn’t win.
What says the bake off fans?

And btw, I found Crystelle to be perfect looking. Then again, I have a type; dark hair, brown eyes, tanned skin.

Me. Although I find the 'comedy' sketches at the start cringe inducing to the point that I have to walk out of the room for a bit to regain my composure.

Maxi

seems like a decent standard so far. Irish girl is a bit hopeless though.

edit: oh she just won the technical.

Doesn't look like there is one baker clearly better than everyone else this year which has been the case last few seasons.

It's really open this time round.

Still not sure what a macaron is I know I've never had one in my life nor seen one.

I was thinking they were saying macaroon different from me

The standard has really dropped off over the last two or three series. None of these would've had a chance of getting star baker five years ago.

How can a challenge be completely inedible and you still get through?
Where’s the logic?

There’s about 4 or 5 that have started well. Irish girl and West Country bird probably the next to go

Double firing this week, both deserved to go to be fair. Rebs crying was so funny.

The quality of this years contestants is very low, apart from Janusz and Maxy, the rest are mediocre at best.

Did think that. I know they are 'amateurs' but some of the performances have been terrible.

Wasn't a fan of the cooking aspect in the technical this week. Not exactly baking.

Terrible episode. Those pizzas looked dreadful. Paul on a big of an ego trip too, didn't really know what he was talking about.

Dawn is eliminated.

People hug dawn.

Matt Lucas (after hugging Dawn): Oh, I just remembered you're not a hugger!

Noel Fielding: Group hug!

*everyone group hugs Dawn*

Cut to a preview of next week's show, presumably because Dawn has collapsed.

That's what she gets for being a Boris Johnson fan girl.

Unless Maxy, Janusz, Sandro or Syabira spectacularly feck up I can't see another last 4. Would like Syabira to win.

Seems like she has the highest ceiling but also the lowest floor. Reckon she'll bottle the final, assuming she makes it.

I missed last week but can’t believe Maxy is gone. Thought she would be in line to win the whole thing.

Janusz and Sandro having a poor semi final so far.

Janusz should have sent a couple of weeks ago but they kept him in because he has been good prior to that . A rule Paul and Pru turn to only when it suits them it seems.

It's been a poor year I lost interest in it, the contestants have been far to poor and the tasks are nonsense now. Complicated and badly explained to the point of madness and timed so they know they won't get baked properly

I got bored of this, honestly surprised it's not over yet.

Think I'm done with it now.

Also agree with this - I’m slowly losing interest. They should make it Apprentice style where the contestants hate each other and should try and sabotage each other mid bake. These lot are too nice.

Glad Syabira won, most consistent from week 1.

Right person won it, but what a thoroughly underwhelming series.

That was shocking for a final. Quality this year was really poor. Sandro started pissing me off in the last few weeks. If he stuck to the tasks and didn’t try to over do things I reckon he would have had a strong end to the series. Syabira definitely deserved to win considering her performances in the last few episodes but they really need to either up the quality next series or reformat in some way.

You say that but there was an episode where she was clearly the worst baker of the week and should have been sent home.

That's the problem with the format when they decide to bend the rules to suit their own favourites.

when was that? From my memory she was either the best or middle of the road for the last 4ish episodes.
