Great basslines

Just to be a bit picky it was Jefferson Airplane for White Rabbit and Jefferson Starship by the time they were banging out We Built This City.

doh...i know that obviously...i blame this rather fine pollen ive just got hold of.

wouldnt write off starship as just we built this city...lets not forget that Paul kantner & jefferson starship first took off with Blows against the Empire in 1970...as fine an album of hippy nonsense as youll find..and that this starship was slick, casady, crosby, nash, garcia, hart, kreutzmann etc

still im ashamed for that schoolboy error.

Very true, I have Sunfighter on vinyl which has a similar kind of line up but I have to be honest Blows against the Empire went a bit under my radar. I've heard of it but never heard it and as I never really got into Sunfighter I never went out of my way to hear it either. I'm going to check that out this evening. I think I made a similar error in that by the time they did We Built This City they were just called Starship at that stage.

I love blows against the empire, though I know its not to everyones taste....bit too hippy for some...its much better than sunfighter in my opinion, though I dont mind sunfigther either.

I must say I'm surprised not to see The Jam's Start or Stevie Wonder's Superstition in there.

Start is such a simple yet effective, powerful bassline, whereas Superstition just reeks of pure funk. I love 'em both.

Queen - Another One Bites the Dust

has to surely be not only in the list, but in the top 5.
