Let's pick goals and assists then.
Rashford: 55 goals and 30 assists in 179 appearances by the age of 23.
Grealish: 15 goals and 16 assists in 96 appearances by the age of 25.

Yeah so much better "objectively".

But but but those calves!

Wasn't one of the first things City did when the takeover happened was to setup a "PR" program. I thought I read articles in the past about them inviting members of the media and essentially lobbying for their positive coverage in the media?

This whole "City can't afford" narrative is obviously fake. maybe they don't want to pay certain players certain salaries but it's not because they can't afford it. They've been caught paying people under the table before.

City will pay him a very sensible wage. I am sure he will be fine as I suspect the UAE tourism board will offer him 20 million a year for his undoubted expertise in state infastructure.

They do also pay players off books...

Sensible wage structure? What does that mean?

I know they do, and I thought, wrongly, that others would have the intelligence to read between the lines.

But for arguments sake, you wouldn’t find a player like Lingard, for example, being paid by City what Utd have paid him.

Their wage structure isn’t as much of a laughable clusterf**k as the one that emerged at Utd under Woodward, is it?

He’s a good player but he’d need to improve to justify this investment and hype. I don’t think this is some slam dunk signing from City, necessarily.

Yep, I see what you mean. When it gets to that point, it takes a long time clearing the deadwood. We are a club that give contracts to youth players a bit too quickly.

Chong, Perreira, Williams are all on decent wages without having proved anything. I mean Brandon is on 60k a week. We can't even loan him because clubs cant afford his wages.

This is the key for Ole. A system that allows Pogba and Bruno to play in midfield is what will give us a chance of competing for the title.
As the poster said, magic will be required for that.

Best we can expect is them playing together in the line of three behind the striker in our 4231. Add Sancho and give them all freedom to interchange and we could be onto something.

So the 3 would be,
Pogba Bruno Sancho
Back 4 would be,
Shaw, Varne, Maguire, AWB
That looks tasty on paper!

Rashford - Cavani - Sancho
Pogba - Bruno
Magic DM

This is what everyone wants to see.

I was not replying to you, I have no idea what you are talking about.

To be honest the only time this has been alleged was Mancini over a decade ago. Since then, we haven't heard anything or seen any evidence. We can't just conclude this as fact.

We haven't seen any more evidence of off the books payments as they are now better at hiding it. Scammers always come up with more sophisticated ways to scam. It was a rookie mistake on their part in the first place to talk about financial corruption over E-Mail whilst having poor IT Security.

Players like Aguero & Silva gave their best years to City. Their was never anything in the press intimating that they were thinking of moving on despite the fact that they could have doubled/trebled their reported salaries if they'd asked for transfers. There is never any brinkmanship from City players when they are due to renew contracts. It happens at every other club though.

It won't surprise me if De Bruyne's real wages aren't far off the likes of Ronaldo and Messi.

Sky reporting that Villa offered him higher wages than he's going to get at City, that has to be bullshit right?

Star players try to shake down their clubs for better wages. It happens with us and the likes of Madrid and Barsa over the years despite them paying stupendous wages to top level players.

But you never hear about City players doing it.

Hmm, I wonder why?

Because they're such a well run club who happen to prefer paying wages in brown envelopes left in train station lockers. That's all.
You have to stop with the anti city agenda

Is that not just considered, well, dribbling?
Damn if I knew what it is  Football was simple when I started watching. Apparently Grealish carry the ball forward? I don't know but this is the stat his lovers love to highlight in this thread.

They run 35th richest country in the world. I would be disappointed if they can't control British press coverage.

Its not dribbling, its his ability to take the ball under pressure and drive with it is very good. That is what everyone means by that.

And how does that compare to lets say Sancho? And how a stat capture what is pressure situation and what isn't? Seems like another random state like xG or whatever it is called.

Damn Grealish is one of the few players in the EPL that improves their starting line up. If they get Kane as well they are looking miles better than last year.

I realise it doesn't suit your unsubstantiated assertion but Milner ran down his contract and left for free. It was a reported contract saga over at least 2 seasons.

Multiple players have left City but not a sniff of anything untoward. Strange don't you think?

Or do you have any actual facts/reports to back up your fantasy?

BTW - when United were favourites to win every year how many players played up regarding their contracts? Not many I would guess. Winning is addictive. Every footballer wants to win, why go anywhere else when you are also very well paid and treated?

I think that's not something you get a stat for, its more an eye test. When Villa are under pressure they just find Grealish and he gets them out of it kind of thing.

Obviously, that is also a downside especially when playing for a pep team where he doesn't really need a player doing that, his tactic is more we will pass our way out.

Sancho, is an elite dribbler if you watch Sancho and Grealish you can tell the difference, Sancho will go past players with skill and pace whereas Grealish uses his body better.

So he'll play multiple positions and rotate with Gundogan in case of an injury ? Don't think you'll need 100m player for that, but Grealish is definitely capable.

According to the Daily Express, Grealish is on £300k per week or 15.60 million a year times 5 is £78m for his contract plus bonuses and none declared stuff like Mancini’s other job as a consultant to a crap Abu Dhabi football team that leaked out. £178m for the package. That’s a lot of shirts for one player. Still, now they have two players to ‘draw the fouls’ with Raheem being the master penalty getter. Good luck to him. Small fish, big pond.

No they're poor remember?

He's likely speaking from a wage perspective too. Grealish is apparently joining city on wages less than what was offered by Villa in the renewed deal.

Propaganda, Pep or Money.

Maguire was definitely from a fee perspective, Sanchez would be wage.

So Grealish’s salary will be over 3X more than what we pay McTominay. That is absolutely nuts.

Well at least this will put to bed this ridiculous, almost "moral" ground they had (particularly with people in the media) about how they may spend money, but they don't spend the BIG bucks on a single player like a PSG or a Barca (or even United) do. They have a line that they won't cross. Well, that's the end of that then.

What about going down when an opponent blows on them?

(Edit. Aftertyping, realised could be taken in wrong way. Meant football)

If nothing else he will greatly contribute to the number of penalties they will win next season.

How many did he win for Villa?

It seems like the type of fouls he wins, refs arr more likely to give him fouls outside the box than inside. Especially when this season, they're being asked to up the threshold for a pen after last year's record pens

What a downgrade for Grealish going from a team who won the CL to one that can't do it.

He's going to be in the box wayyyy more for City though. Going to be a nightmare having him and Sterling in the team. And in terms of the threshold thing, I'll believe it when I see it.

Just a thought but did City rush this through before the PL imposed sanctions for breaking FFP rules? They are banged to rights and the PL seem to be dragging their feet as it’s been over two years since they requested documents from City. Normally, City will let it be known they are interested in a player and entice them (and their agents) with big money to force a lower cost transfer, like Mahrez who only saw ££££’s.

They could basically sign anyone apart from a world class striker (who they will probably sign soon in Kane anyway), and it actually wouldn’t matter much.
They already have a ridiculous squad. The difference between playing Grealish instead of Gundogan, Mahrez, Foden, Silva or whoever will be small to non existent.
